The beautiful views, your own private pool and luxurious room make The Shore at Katathani an ideal place to stay. The photos from the website are spot on and our view was simply breathtaking. The staff are very friendly, well versed in English and always helpful. We enjoyed the restaurants on the grounds but it's also close enough to walk to other restaurants or take a short taxi ride into Kata for a myriad of choices. We were lucky enough to arrive for the Loy Krathong festival and they had a special dinner with Loy Krathong floats for each guest and flying lanterns that we lit after dinner and watched fly away. The beach is very nice with no road to cross and the water was lovely. There were enough stands on the beach that you can get a massage, a drink or jet ski but not so much that it's intrusive. We saw a wedding one evening - it looked lovely - and we got to enjoy the fireworks along with the wedding party. We had a most relaxing and enjoyable holiday and I would definitely return to The Shore at Katathani when we need a beach vacation in Phuket.

Never having travelled through Thailand before I wanted to make sure our accomodation was comfortable. What we experienced at The Shore Villas was nothing less than perfection. The Villa was spacious with the best view of the beach imaginable. The plunge pool was much bigger than was advertised in the brochures and the view second to none. Every night we'd come home to a different towel animal folded on our bed and wake upto a fresh fruit basket every morning. From the golf buggy ride to your door to the salute from the security every time you passed, everything was choreographed to perfection. The only problem we faced was having to leave.

We stayed at the Shore for 9 nights and could have easily stayed another 9 nights. The view from the infinity pool on the balcony was amazing. The room was actually larger than it looks in the hotel's website pictures, and the service was exceptionally good.

We had originally booked into the Katathani's Junior Suites, however we changed to the Shore as we got a good deal on Expedia. It was well worth it when we arrived.

We booked an airport transfer through the Shore for 1500 baht each way. The car was a new Toyota with comfortable leather seats. The driver provided bottles of water and cold towels which were appreciated after the 9 hr flight from Australia.

When we arrived at the Shore's reception area, we were welcomed by staff and quickly taken to our room by Buggy. The rest of the check-in was completed in our room following a tour of the room. As it was our anniversary, I had arranged for a bouquet of roses for my wife - it was much larger than expected and The Shore had also given us a cake with Happy Anniversary written on it.

The villa looked brand new and was well designed. The infinity pool on the balcony was much larger and deeper than expected - almost the size of many backyard pools in Australia. The lounge areas next to the pool were spacious and comfortable.

The service at the Shore was exceptionally good. All staff from reception, room service, housekeeping, maintenance and security were very friendly and welcoming. Security staff were particularly good and welcomed us like a friend each time we left and returned to the resort. I have stayed in similar resorts in Thailand a number of times previously but have never experienced the high level of service we received at The Shore.

Guests at the Shore are also able to use the Katathani resort facilities. This makes it feel like you have the best of both resorts - the many facilities, bars, restauarants at Katathani, but also the more personal feel of a smaller resort like the Shore.

An area of the resort that could be improved is the food. While the room service and breakfasts are ok, they are not great. The food at Mom Tris Kitchen and Boathouse was better. Breakfasts were ok, but they need to offer more variety for those staying longer than a couple of days. I would have also liked more asian breakfast options on the menu, as I enjoy these when in Asia. I can eat Bacon, Sausages and Eggs every now and again, but after a few days I'd like the option to eat something else (apart from cereal/toast). The same goes for the katathani resort restaurants. These were mostly almost empty most nights, while most local restaurants were usually busy. I think the reason may be that prices were higher, but the quality (while good) was not worth the price. We ate at Mom Tris Boathouse and Mom Tri's Kitchen a couple of times and, while expensive for Thailand, the quality was high and worth the price. The Shore arranged for a free transfer to Mom Tris Kitchen. (We also ate at Two Chefs in Kata, and the local Thai restaurants in Kata Noi which were good also.) This may not be important for some, however we enjoy eating good food, and both The Shore and the Katathani would be almost perfect if the dining options were improved.

We would definitely recommend The Shore to anyone wanting a relaxing beach holiday away from the crowds of Patong. It is an amazing resort with some of the best views in Phuket. Above all, the service alone is a reason to stay. Having your own private pool with a view of the beach is an added bonus.

My husband and I stayed in Phuket for a total of 2 weeks. The first week we stayed closer to Patong (closer to town and the party scene etc) and the second week we stayed at the Shore (a little more secluded and quiet). It was nice to walk around the Patong area, visit some of the surrounding islands (including Phi Phi) and attend the caberet shows, but for me, the highlight of the trip started when we arrived at the Shore. We stayed at many different hotels over the years (my favorite being the St. Regis in Bora Bora, but this comes to a very close 2nd). By the way, the website pictures of the room are very accurate. The rooms along with the views are gorgeous. It actually rained a couple of the days that we were there but we didn't really mind because the rooms are so beautiful. We simply stayed in, lounging and enjoying the view. I loved being able to open all the sliding doors so that I felt like I was effectively outside.

A typical day at the Shore included waking up with breakfast served and set up on the porch. We would have our eggs, toast and coffee with a view of the water every morning. After breakfast, we would usually lounge around in the room for a couple of hours and then wander over to the beach or grounds at Katathani. While the Shore is a small hotel on its own, it is affiliated with the bigger Kathathani Phuket Resort so you had access to all of their amenities (including 3 gyms, tennis courts, at least 4 large pools etc). We would lounge by the pool or beach area for a little while, wander to one of their restaurants for lunch or play tennis (150 baht per racket rental or about $5) or go to the fitness center. The beach was lovely (some small waves, but very warm water). While it is a public beach, it was not crowded and it was right in front of the hotel. A few of the days, my husband got massages on the beach (for 300 baht an hr or about $10). Then we would come back to the room and have a nice soak in the tub. I'm a bath person in general, but loved the tub because it had a beautiful view of the ocean (they also provide bath salts).

In the evenings, we would order food from room service or pick up food from one of the nearby restaurants and eat it on our porch. One evening, we weren't really feeling the room service menu so we asked if we could order off of one of their restaurant menus. Shortly thereafter, someone came to our room with the menu to the restaurant that we asked for! Just an example of how accomodating they try to be. A couple of evenings they would bring by some complimentary fruit. Not a huge deal, but a nice gesture. There was never the feeling that they were trying to nickel and dime you every chance they got.

There is also a small library with books and DVDs available to be borrowed. The selection is not huge but it was sufficient for our one week stay. The affiliate hotel also had an activities rooms (ping pong, pool table etc). In addition, there was pretty much free wifi access everywhere (including the room). I'm not sure if it's free to for everyone, but definitely free if you stay at the Shore.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking to "get away". The rooms are so lovely with the private porch and private infinity pool that you will spend quite a bit of time there and totally secluded. After working our crazy schedules back home, this was the perfect vacation that we needed.

My Husband & I stayed here for our first 4 nights of our Honeymoon. We were soo impressed from the minute we arrived upon being greeted with a cool drink, selction of flowers for our room, Breakfast choices e.t.c.. We stayed in the Pool Villa, which is extremely spacious, modern & exceptionally clean. The Shore at Katathani is right at the end of Katanoi Beach. The Hotel manager told us that they opened in April, so all the furnishings are brand spanking new! The hotwl offers free WiFi, Free dvd usage & my husband used their very well equipped Gym. If you are too hot & bothered to walk up the hill to your Villa they offer complimentary buggy rides to your door.
We would both be back in a heartbeat & recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Phuket away from the hustle & bustle.

my husband and i just went to phuket over the long weekend for 3D2N. our stay at the shore was amazing. the only bad thing is that the trip was too short!! we both wish we could stay longer. while the ride from the airport to the hotel was a bit longer than expected, we were totally impressed by the hotel and its staff from the very first moment we got there. the staff was friendly & helpful. the room we got was very nice, clean, and spacious. we love a little outfoor lounge/sofa area right next to a private infinity pool. the best thing? the beach and ocean view from our room. it was simply stunning! we were pretty much lounging by the pool the whole day ;) room service was good and fast. i got my mani/padi and massage done in the room itself. the place was peaceful and quiet, just perfect for us. if you are looking for a phuket nightlife and clubbing scene, this might not be the right place for you. time flies! the trip had come to an end. it was a memorable and a completely relaxing getaway trip for the both of us. what else could you ask for? :)

I stayed at the Shore for a week and i can honestly say its the most beautiful room i ever stayed in. And comfortable. The bed was enormous and perfect. I had the best sleeps ever. I loved the privacy of my own sundeck and pool. I loved the room service and the friendly service overall. It felt really safe for a solo female traveller. The weather when i went in July was not so great - rained alot - but i just stayed in my room and read and relaxed and watched wimbledon in bed!!! and looked at the wonderful view from my huge ocean front window. Food in the restaurant was great and they were very happy to cater for my dietary requirements. I also ate food of my own in the room and that was fine too. The views were breathtaking even tho it was not possible to swim in the sea (red flags all week) but i still went for a walk along the beach, used the wonderful spa facilities and had the most relaxing time. Its worth going this far even for a week!
