The Color Kata
Ranked #47 of 55 Hotels in Kata Beach
Reviewed 24 January 2012

My friend and I consider ourselves budget travelers for this Phuket trip (not quite backpackers) and spent time looking for an inexpensive option in Phuket that wasn't in Patong, and we found it at The Color Kata. The hotel is a ten minute walk from Kata beach (and the hotel offers a free shuttle, but it only leaves every hour on the hour and sine the walk is short it wasn't worth it to us to wait for the shuttle). It's about a 20 minute walk from the shops, restaurants, bars and stalls, so dinner options are plentiful but you can still get a good nights sleep without too much noise! The room is small, but well laid out. The bed was clean, but the towels always had a dirty, grainy feel to them (I guess that's from people taking them to the beach). The computer doubles as a TV screen and Internet is included. My favorite room amenity is the speaker set that gets plugged into your iPod! The bathroom is interesting.. The toilet and shower doors are completely glass, so both cannot be used at the same time - you'd better be very comfortable with your traveling partner too! Our door lock was brokoen on the second day and even though it was a pain in the butt, the staff handled the issue as best they could (which meant fixing the lock but not locking the door after...). The walls are thin, so when drunk, noisy fellow travelers come bumbling into their rooms you will most likely be woken up. Breakfast was ok: pineapple, watermelon and papaya; toast and strawberry jam or marmalade; cornflakes, muesli or cocopuffs; tea, milk and juice. Overall I'm pleased with our choice because our room was only $65/night, but I wouldn't spend a whole lot more for the same thing.

The Color Kata Hotel is under construction....they are working every day in the whole hotel...maybe it is finished within the next months...!?!?
the first days...horror...breakfast room was not ready...
there was no advise in the internet, that the hotel is under construction !!!!

Room Tip: book a room at sawasdee village - not at the color kata hotel!!
