After much excitement about this lovely hotel it only ended up being a disaster.
On arrival, we were taken to our room which looked out onto a solid wall. We were then upgraded for 1000baht (2people) to the garden spa rooms which was more of a downgrade.
The garden spa rooms have such a good view however are in dire need of a makeover!
On departure, management apologised for the condition of the bed we slept on and arranged a free taxi and refund.
The breakfast is no good.

I am not sure where the negativity has come from. The only thing I found mildly irritating was the steep hill you have to walk up to get there - there is a free shuttle bus to alleviate this problem.

We were greeted with the typical Thai hospitality, big smiles, warmth and friendliness. We were shown to our room which was pristine, immaculate and large. We were a bit thrown off when the staff hovered waiting for us to give them a tip. It was a bit awkward as I didn't have cash on me.

After getting over the issue we wondered around the hotel to see that the pools were lovely, with plenty of loungers and a nice poolside bar. The facilities were great!

We headed into Kata for some dinner and experienced the assertive salesmen you get all over Thailand - no i would not like a rolex, no I would not like you to make me an armani suit (yeh exactly!). But the town itself was quite nice although a bit over commercialised and it seemed to be the Russian quarter! But let this not affect the review.

The breakfast was absolutely fine with a huge range of items (I have no idea where other reviewers went for breakfast), it could have been served a bit hotter I suppose, but you can't fault the quality and selection. Eggs cooked to order in front of you and a nice mix of sweet and savoury items.

I probably wouldn't go back, but that is more to do with Kata Beach than the hotel. If the hotel was located in another part of Thailand I would have no hesitation!

Andaman Cannacia Hotel is a quiet hotel, built into the hillside overlooking Kata and Karon beach. This hotel offers lovely views down the coast and it is worth asking for floor 2 to get above the tree line for the view and the light. Wonderful ocean views and sunsets. The pool area is well kept and clean and a decent pool for swimming, alongwith a pool bar and spa pool. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool and food/drinks can be provided poolside. The restaurant is good, but expensive compared to the choice downtown which is much more varied and a whole lot cheaper. There is a free shuttle bus between 9-5, but after 5 you have to take a taxi or hike up a steep hill. Kata beach is the better of the 2 beaches, whereas the shops at Karon beach are cheaper. No mosquitos there, got bitten at Phuket airport though, so keep on the deet! The spa is worth the money for the massage in the hotel, again more expensive than down in the town, but professional and safe within the hotel complex. The shower was powerful, but rooms appear a little run down at the edges, due to the dark wood and some of the fittings have seen better days, would rate this more a 3 star plus by european standards, the bed was large and comfortable, free pool towels, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel was helpful. Good TV, tea/coffee making facility in room and mini bar, (beware the mini bar mounts up if you use it) free bottled water 2 per day. No lift to higher floors. Found the staff polite and helpful, for the price realistically this was good value for money.

Room Tip: Air conditioned and balcony with view on 2nd floor all face the ocean, lower floors suffer from lack...

I would stay at this hotel again as it ticked all the boxes, good power showers, big solid beds, decent TVs, nice pool, good choice @breakfast, nice clean facilities, etc....

There are only 3 minor things and unfortunately 1 MAJOR reason, that would make me think otherwise.......

1. Lack of internet available in rooms, the hotel charges a small fortune for the privilege...
2. Its a bit out of the town, up a very steep hill. I imagine this being a bonus during the busy season as the hotel would be quiet, but something to consider if you like to venture into town/the beach, etc..
3. The food isn't amazing, also more expensive than the town, hence another reason to consider the location....

That Major reason....

On departure we asked if the hotel could help direct us to our next hotel , whether its walking distance or better to book a taxi??

As we didn't know exactly where in kata beach the next hotel was we were just seeking a little guidance.....

They told us it was far, far away (other side of kata beach) and suggested using their hotels taxi service, so we did.

When asking how much we were told 250 BAHT for the 2 of us, this may not seem a lot but bearing in mind a minibus from Phuket airport to the hotel only cost 200 BAHT per person... we considered this to be quite a long journey.

Unfortunately we were mislead and less than 5 mins later we arrived at our new hotel in the center of Kata beach, just 100 meters further than we had walked almost every evening for food.
When stating to the driver that it was a lot of money for such a small journey he then said okay 200 BAHT, and i begrudgingly paid him...

I expected to have to barter with many people in Thailand but not the hotel of which I've stayed for many nights i think it was very unprofessional of their staff and it makes me think how many more guest they have ripped off..

This left a very sower taste in my mouth about the hotel and its overall operations.

Room Tip: Walk out of the resort for taxis as they overcharge..
