Enquired about the rooms in January, asked that it can only be double bed, put on the request if any problems please let me know. NO contact was made, other then the invoice for the full amount of the weeks stay and that everything was fine. Paid in full for the room. Now 1 week before leaving, i confirmed with the 3 hotels I'm staying with all details are correct and tropical garden emails me back saying, "double room by request only, we will try our best" ??????? i emailed back saying it was requested right from the start, and that i need the double room as it is a romantic holiday for 2, and after more then 2 days still no reply. I have already spoken to my credit card company who will help retrieve the money if the hotel don't refund in full. For a 3/4 star hotel (on there website they claim 4) this is outrageous!!! How is the suitable for couples, married etc.... probably 90% of there clientèle. I can not comment on the hotel further as i have yet to stay there, but for there complete lack of communication, organization and lack to offer even the correct room, this is not a 4 star hotel, this is not even a 1 star hotel, the most basic of taverns allows you to pay and book for double bed rooms, this is the same in Thailand (i lived in Phuket for two years). This hotel falls below all expectations, and now I'm having to find somewhere else to stay.

All in all this is a pretty good 3* hotel, the pool area was good, but the highlight was definitely the view. Downsides were the number of stairs (even to get to the lifts - although thanks for the more toned bum!) and the rooms a little tired with extremely hard beds. Location wise it is great though, near some good restaurants and handy shops.

Almost the same thing as described by liv2travel 81 happened to us. We had booked for the Serene Resort, but we were moved to the Honey Resort due to problems with the airco in the room we booked. We were told that the next day we could go back to Serene Resort (did they tell the truth, was it not an overbooking?).
The next day at the time we should pick up, nobody was there. After a lot of problems an manager promised us we should get an upgrade in the sister hotel Topical Garden Resort. It was better than Serene Resort, she said.
The first impression was okay. The view was nice, but there was a strange smell in the room we could not recognize at that time. After three days we discovered that one pillow was mouldy. We got a new one, but the smell did net disappear completely. Now we think that it was probably the airco in the room, for we both also got health problems since we stayed in that room.

We were moved to Tropical Garden Resort after an "overbooking" at Serene Resort, its sister hotel. The Tropcial Garden was huge, crowded, and FULL of steep stairways. The view from the room was the best part. The room was dated and a bit dirty. The bathroom badly in need of updating. The staff was courteous and helpful, but nothing special. The breakfast was included in our rate, which was good because there was quite a large selection and the eating area had a lovely view of the ocean. However, the rooms were not nice enough to get excited about, especially if you are looking to have a romantic vacation, as my husband and I were! The Tropical Resort (different hotel!) is much nicer and the service is more personal- we moved to the Tropical Resort after 2 nights at Tropical Garden and were so happy after we moved!

just arrived back home on the 18th jan 2010,we only stayed for 5 nights and to be quite honest that was enough, this hotel has got great potential but unfortunately it is tied, filthy and quite run down,it almost seems that it is used as a dumping ground for other hotels to sell off their old furnishings, on arrival the hotel looked great ,its got a nice reception area which is the cleanest area in the whole hotel.we checked into our room after walking up THOSE KILLER STEPS,we booked into a deluxe sea view room on level 4 and had a fantastic view over kata beach, our room was quite adequate but thats about it .the pool area was a playground for bacteria,we always like to use the pool whilst on holiday but not on this occasion,we could not believe the filth in the filters and on the tiles around the edge of the pool ,between 14.00 and 15.00 a golden hour is available around the pool area offering 50% off full lunch menu, however after ordering and eating your food along with a few beers we found out that their full lunch menu means drinks only!!!!!
the breakfast was ok
the staff were not really bothered or concerned.
guests are allowed to stay at a cost of 500 bht and one afternoon five Russians men had invited a lady guest into the hotel and decided to spend their time around the pool (i suppose they had to get more than their monies worth)
we used a metered taxi from the airport was around 370 bht ,however a return taxi can only booked from hotels in kata for around 800 bht,we had to leave early and it ended up costing 1000bht!!!!!!!!!!!
we only used this hotel as a place to sleep and if you can put up with the pathetic Nepalese sellers on the streets with their unfunny banter expecting all british people to be called jimmy and use the words lovely jubbly ,alwite mate and diamond geezer in our everyday conversation then kata is a nice area of phuket the two chefs resturant the various thai shops the kata bar b que grill on the beach are a nice place to spend a evening.
all in all i think this hotel should be closed for a couple of months decorated and cleaned and brought back to how you would imagine a hotel in a supposed paradise island should be, until that time i would discourage people from visiting this 1 star bed and breakfast................

The Resort was built on a cliff, with a nice view to Kata beach. However they didn't think about the guests comfort. Lots of stairs to climb. The lift (4 people one) is on third level. If you are at the superior room, means even more stairs to reach a second lift to finally reach your room. A nightmare if you are tired after a long day. If you have any injuries or motion problem step away. This place is not for you.

Having learn with disappointment that you did not enjoy your holiday with us.As the Tropical Garden Resort is located on the hill side of the beach town of Kata, we cannot deny that all rooms are on the hill. We have provided the information for guests where we are. There are a number of stairs to get to the room is a fact but there are also lifts dotted around to facilitate you. We have a number of repeat guests who have been staying with us because of the manifique sea view from our deluxe sea view rooms. Besides we got a good feed back from our guests regarding the beautiful hotel landscape and beautiful sea view.

For next visit, we would recommend you our sister resort, the Tropical Resort which is on the ground. It will be suitable for you though.

We fully hope that you come back again and stay with us at our sister hotel Tropical Resort.
