“'More than Picture-Perfect !'”
Reviewed 22 January 2014

We enjoyed our 3-nights-stay in this hotel so much! After the busy stay at crowded Patong-beach, which was a first for us (and probably a last but we enjoyed the experience), we were so happy to arrive at Kata; the Foto Hotel. It's everything you see in the pictures and more, we loved our room! We had a bath-tub on the balcony with a view on Kata-Noi-Beach, which is great for daytime sun-and-swim as well as Kata Beach, you're right in the middle. Imagine waking up and having your coffee here, see picture please. The room was quite large with very high ceilings, the bed was right in the middle which was great for a beautiful wake-up-view, a large day-bed in the room, plenty of closet-space (tucked away everywhere, well done!), the black and white bear and pillows everywhere made me smile all the time and really give a homy feeling to this on the other hand very industrial looking hotel, which I loved! The bed was large and perfect and the bathroom with great shower was wonderful as well. On top of all this there is this superb looking restaurant and pool with great daybeds (which you can 'close' with a hood for a nap or for some shade). If you want to go out you can easily reach Kata and Kata Noi even by foot but back up the hill you might want to catch a taxi; plenty of bars and restaurants around. You can even reach Patong easily from here by taxi (probably 10-15 min.).
The staff is ever so friendly, breakfast was great as well !
If I had to mention one negative side it could be the walk up the hill (10 minutes) if you travel back but we enjoyed this walk twice without a problem. I would love to go back here!

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs ask for a room as high as possible, preferably with bath-tub on balcony...

We spent six days at the Foto Hotel over the New Year holidays and had a fantastic time. The hotel is very modern and the rooms are well-appointed, with excellent air-con and free mini-bar. Our room had a wonderful view over Kata Noi, and the infinity pool on the roof of the hotel had even more outstanding views of the surrounding area.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - English not always perfect, but we're in a foreign country, right?
The breakfast at the hotel was delicious, with a choice of either Thai or Western food.
The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of Kata, but you can walk down to the town and the beaches. Kata Noi beach is highly recommended. Yes, the hotel is on a steep hill, but you can take a taxi if the walk back up is too much for you.
We had a great time and will certainly be coming back to Foto Hotel.

Room Tip: We had a beach-view room which was really great.

I've been here 3 out of a 13 day stay, and I have to say I'm completely wow-ed by the Foto Hotel. I booked despite some negative reviews about rude staff, and I have to say I have not yet experienced that. The staff are all lovely, and apart from a bit of a language barrier, they are always smiling. We got a beautiful Ozone Hall Room, and don't mind not having an Ocean View, because the rooms are so striking. The bathtub on the balcony, the huge bed and wonderful decor make this hotel really special. Some parts of the room are aged, but its incredible value for the price. The hike up the hill can be heavy during the middle of the day, so a scooter is recommended. But your a short walk from bars and restaurants, so walking during the night is fine. Kata Beach is a beautiful area, haven't felt unsafe at all! Overall, so far so good.

Room Tip: Ask for an room that can be reached using the inclinator elevator - will save you a fairly hefty wal...

The ocean-view room was really nice, with a balcony bathtub.
Also the staff were very friendly.
The location is also good that only 5mins walk from market and fruit shop.

One thing to be improved is that the available tv channels are too limited.

We stayed here in December for 3 nights. We stayed in 6 hotels while in Thailand and this is one of our favourites - up there with the Banyan Tree in Bangkok!!

We had a sea view room. We had read on here that the rooms and beds were big but we didnt realise just how big! The beds were nice and comfy too!! Our room was clean and had a nice smell to it (not that I often go around smelling rooms).

The breakfast was very good too, we had the western breakfast. Cooked fresh to order and breakfast is served until 1pm.

The pool, furniture and the view are all brilliant not to mention the sunset!!

As for the staff can't say I spoke to them often except in the restaurant and by the bar but seemed helpful to me. Also when checking in and out we had ni problems.

A tip - Go to kata noi beach rather than kata beach. Can walk there from kata beach or the hotel!

This is one of my favourite hotels that I have stayed in. The hotel is modern and rooms are big, clean and have great views over Kata noi beach. There is a roof top pool over looking the bay, if you are not into this you can head to the beach, either by free shuttle service or rent a motorbike/taxi - it will take 4-5 minutes. Would recommend this hotel to anyone considering a visit to Kata Beach.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are worth upgrading for as you look over Kata Noi beach

This is one of my best hotel experience. We stayed for a week and we had only had positive moments. We had a room that where furthest from the pool and reception. And I see among the review people have some complain about that and that the hotel is up a steep hill. But if you are in average shape there is no problem walking to the town, beach or reception. But maybe if you have COPD or a heart disease you should maybe consider a room closer to the reception...
