“Good service & lots of choice”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

Chang Siam is located adjacent to Phuket Scuba Club and we ate here several times in conduction with business at PSC. We were not disappointed with any of our varied selections from curry to calamari, to french fries, to fresh fish. Don't expect a high end wine list at this Burmese-operated establishment, but do expect large portions and repeatably good quality. The service was good and the host even taught us to pick out the freshest fish from his selection.

“Good value”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

If we like a restaurant we return and eat there again. Simple as that. We had dinner three times here on our recent trip. The seafood is excellent and good value for money, while the service is friendly and fast. It's a fairly new restaurant compared to the others on this road but I think they learn quickly from customers suggestions and we didn't encounter any of the issues mentioned in earlier posts. I think it's worthwhile to try it for yourself.

“Don't know what others are saying”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

Honestly the food is really good here. Don't listen to the others. Not the nicest looking place but food portions and quality are great. Very resonable prices. Try it out

“Get your free salad bar here ... it certainly attracts some tourists ... but is very ordinary”
Reviewed 22 April 2013

It seems that there are band of tourist who just love something that is free. Well we went to the Chang Siam expecting a reasonable meal based on the advertising literature and photographs of the food available on the footpath and inside their menu. We did not see great value in the free salad offered although some Russian tourists thought they were on to a good thing and were making sure that they were well lubricated before ordering anything by getting stuck into the free watermelon, pineapple, coleslaw, corn, cucumber and grape tomatoes. We had two pieces of watermelon which was lovely before ordering an entree of spring rolls, which were very nice (3 on the plate). We had Chicken Satay and ordered what looked to be a magnificent meal in the photograph (!) of ginger duck and two serves of white rice together with the usual cold Singha and a Watermelon shake for the boss. We were considering having sweets, but watched a rather largish waitress preparing an icecream dessert and decided against dessert after watching her spread the nuts and flavouring with her bare fingers.
Apart from that, the duck was average and the serve was small, the satay comprised three sticks and a reasonable peanut sauce.
One serve of Rice accompanied the meal and we noticed that we were not charged for this.
At the end of the meal we needed to ask for the advertised 20% discount, which was subsequently deducted from our bill.
No airconditioning, the restaurant is located on an open verandah-type of arrangement and also suffered from the incredible noise of traffic roaring down the narrow street in front of the restaurant.
The staff were friendly and polite - although we were a little concerned about the hygiene aspect.
We will not be hurrying back.
