It doesn't look like a hotel when you first arrive with the awning outside highlighting " Wine and grill" and the Lobby inside quite non descript .

But walk in further towards the lounge fronting the beach and that's when you can't help but fall in love with the place .

Theres missing all of the loud ostentious fittings you come to expect of a 5 star hotel but instead its one where you can walk around comfortably in beach wear and feel you may just have packed home with you.

Enjoy!

While my stay was unfortunately very short due to a personal problem, the property is very nice, in a great location, with excellent beach and restaurants. But the true standout is the service! From the manager to every other employee, the service could not be beat! They clearly care about their customers and want to ensure a good time. We'll be going back soon!

Sometimes messing with success leaves you with something less than what you started with. Having stayed here a year or two ago we were looking forward to our visit with excitement and anticipation. What we found was a little disappointing. 'Modernising' often results in losing the some of the character of an older resort and this revisionist treatment, with its 'brown reduction' and addition of of a 'two tier' guest system was, in my opinion, a step in the wrong direction. Make no mistake, this is still an elegant and friendly place to stay, but lying next to people wearing coloured bracelets to denote their luxury status does detract from the experience. The tiny brown lift doesn't go any faster because it is painted white. And then there is the staffing. The different parts of the resort; front desk, breakfast area, poolside and beach don't cohere in quite the way they should. The dazzling upscale bar 'Rekata' seems like a completely different enterprise from the hotel itself. The breakfast was poorly organised on two of our three days we struggled for service; the reason? Someone was sick those days. Sorry, not good enough. This is a five star resort, when people are sick there should be better strategies. A similar thing occured at check out when we asked for assistance with bags. The message obviously did not get through. So, did we enjoy ourselves? On balance yes, the check in staff were helpful, the beach front men were really onto it, there were still traces of that old world charm reminiscent of places like the E and O in Penang. But will we go again? Probably not. I feel there are nicer places which cost a lot less.

Room Tip: Choose one away from the huge bank of airconditioners.

one of the most comfortable places i've ever stayed. from hotel entrance to the room. amazing welcome and service. you are like in a protected bubble when you are inside the hotel area including the beach. if i go there, this is the only hotel i'll ever stay. Also need to mention Marie-Laure (General Manager) as she was constantly around herself. Such a great service and a hotel!! Staff trained for European guests and extremely polite..

Looking for a boutique hotel with style, service and location? Then look no further than the fabulous Boathouse on Kata Beach, Phuket (recently Mom Tri's Boathouse). Recently refurbished, this gorgeous establishment is elegant and superbly comfortable, with sensational views across the beach and waters. We normally stay in the third floor suite - just wonderful; luxurious and squeaky clean. We have looked at the other rooms too...also excellent. The suite balcony offers great privacy and spectacular views - perfect for evening drinks whilst watching the incredible sunsets. The breakfasts are to die for, the restaurant is top quality, the staff are just delightful. Kata Beach is a terrific family beach...safe and fun. Boathouse offers its own beach lounges, towels, umbrellas and tables, with attentive service...icy waterand fruit kebabs, along with full bar and menu. The surrounding restaurants are fantastic...we love the Thai food restaurant right on the beach, adjacent to the treehouse SkaBar, which is also heaps of fun. The food here is absolutely delicious and extremely affordable. Gastone's is a genuine Italian trattoria - DELISH and authentic. The Boathouse is just a 15/20 minute taxi or tuk-tuk ride to busy Patong for nightlife and\or shopping, or a great walk to nearby shopping strips. We just adore this place...going back for the fifth time this year!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms have great beach access. Most have sea views. Suite 301 is our favourite, with a balcony o...

Oceanfront rooms were behind pool and resturaunt. ZERO PRIVACY. trees in front of upper floor suites resuted in VERY LIMITED sea or sand view. Beach chairs rented out to anyone, I mean anyone!

WORST seafood meal I've ever had. Old renowned chef no longer there, now beware! Burned canned truffles on chicken for an extra $25.

Stay away not he old Boathouse
