“Ok beach, but not our favorite”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

Kata Beach has a very European look and feel to it. Rows upon rows of beach chairs and umbrellas are aligned up and down the beach. Each color umbrella represents a new vendor. One guy wanted 500 Baht for the day, whereas further up, the price drops to the usual 100 Baht. So shop around. The clientele too, is decidedly European, mainly Russian, German, and British. There are the usual water sport activities like parasailing and jet ski rentals. I prefer a beach where the only noise will be the occasional longboat chugging ashore.
Sand was clean and the water during high tide was clear and warm. Some rocky bottom during low tide. Food available from plenty of food stall owners or restaurants.
All in all an ok beach, but there are nicer ones in Phuket, so go and find them!

“Excellent beach”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

We visited Kata beach a couple of times while in Phuket. We thought that this was the nicest beach we had seen in Phuket. It is smaller than most of the other beaches but still has many shops, restaurants and bars etc. This is an area where we would likely stay on our next trip to Phuket.

“Good beach”
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Kata Beach is one of the nicer beaches in Phuket but, as an Aussie, I don't go to Thailand for the beaches because I live within an hour of some of the best in the world. There are loads of sunbeds but you can find a spare bit of sand if you look around. I doubt I have seen so many sunburnt people in one place. The water was clean and swimming very enjoyable. You can also hire a long boat and go offshore a bit. There are quite a few restaurants along the street and as well as markets and vendors. If you don't like the hustle and bustle of Patong, you will probably like it here. Prices are a little higher here though.
