Mom Tri's Villa Royale

Gorgeous hotel set in hillside overlooking the ocean and Kata Beach. Quiet, serene with lush vegetation all around well-maintained grounds. Unique rooms and suite looking out over ocean or beach. Many suites have private or semi-private outdoor balcony areas. Breakfast was good and Mom Tri's restaurants are amazing. We didn't want to leave and wondered why everyone didn't stay at this hotel if they come to Kata! Perfect for couples.

Kata beach was beautiful....lots of waves for people who like to surf or boogey board. Plenty of shops and restaurants in this area but also just 20 minutes from Patong.

Can only acknowledge multiple previous reviews that this place is outstanding.
As the tab was picked up by my sons I cannot even fault the value!
The rooms are architecturally ethnic and worth many photos, the location is prime on a rocky outcropping between two sandy beaches, the grounds are very natural & tropical but I suspect heavily maintained and the service was constantly available (with smiles) but never obtrusive. If there is a need to indulge consider the Mom Tris.

Tranquil, beautiful, food to die for, incredible setting, amazing romos (stayed in three different ones during lengthy stay so got a really good idea) and best of all, the staff are just wonderful, wonderful wonderful -the hotel's best asset. spent honeymoon there and just adored it. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Prior reviews hit the major points so I will simply emphasize the pros and (few) cons:

PROS: the following all qualify as truly 5-star: rooms, landscaping, layout of hotel, breakfast, management (Sylvie, a charming refugee from LA), beach access. Simply put, it's a classy operation that is a world apart from Patong. I was not particularly stoked about Phuket (as opposed to Ko Samui and Ko Phi Phi Lei), but this hotel turned me into a believer.

CONS: ongoing construction to expand the hotel is a minor bummer--I wld check to see where your prospective room wld be located; the walk from the hotel to the main Kata beach is short but malodorous due to other properties' practice of leaving garbage outside to marinate in the Thai heat. I'd recoomend doing it as a jog or, even better, on a minibike!

My husband and I were here on our honeymoon and stayed for 5 nights. From the moment we got there until the moment we left everything was perfect. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. The property was beautiful!!! If I ever go back to Phuket I would stay here again!

Mom Tri's Villa Royale is one of my favorite hotels in the world - what an incredible place to stay! It is located on an incredible beach - Kata Beach Noi (10 minute walk to Kata Beach). Kata Beach Noi is absolutely wonderful - crystal clear waters, snorkeling, amazing sunsets, and not very crowded. Kata Beach is where Mom Tri's Boathouse is located (which also looked very nice) but is definitely more crowded than Kata Beach Noi. The hotel is built into a hill but you have direct beach access from the hotel (just a few minute walk). It's about 20 minutes by taxi to Patong (which is much seedier/dirtier - but more nightlife).

The hotel has multiple room choices - we actually stayed in both the Kata Suite and the Beachwing Suite. We actually preferred the Beachwing Suite over the Kata Suite (even though the Kata was larger and more expensive). Our Beachwing Suite had terrific views of Kata Beach Noi (I believe it was room 25) and a wonderful private balconuy area. The Kata suite was definitely larger (w an amazing bathroom) but didnt have the views (I believe we were in room 27).

Mom Tri's has a wonderful breakfast that was included in our cost of the room. Fresh fruits, bread, omelette station, juice station, etc.

I would absolutely stay at Mom Tri's Villa Royale again in Phuket and would recommend it to everyone I know. The only downfall of this place (which still did not stop me from giving it 5 stars) is that there is a little construction going on next door. Our rooms were located on the other side of the property so we did not hear a thing. However, at breakfast (which was located closer to the construction), we could hear it.

Our experience with Mom Tri’s Villa Royale Hotel in Kata Noi, Phuket began long before our Thailand vacation started. I contacted the hotel weeks earlier to ask if we could store our luggage there for four days preceding our scheduled stay while we went off on a liveaboard boat to dive the Andaman Sea. The response was quick and unconditional; yes they would gladly hold our luggage in a secure place while we were away at sea.

True to their word, we arrived with our luggage and didn’t even have to explain our purpose. The Front Desk staff said they were expecting us, took our luggage and directed us to the van that was already waiting to take us to the dock to board our floating home for the next few days. Unfortunately, because the van was already there we got no more than a sneak peek of how beautiful Mom Tri’s property was.

When we returned four days later Ying greeted us warmly with a scented cool, moist towel, a traditional flower bracelet and a refreshing fruity punch that we didn’t realize until later was actually a type of tea. As we filled out the hotel paperwork, our luggage appeared and it along with our dive gear was whisked off to our “room”.

We had reserved a studio with a view of the beach. With a smile, Ying told us that she had upgraded us to the largest suite on the property with a reminder that we must return to use it again and tell all of our friends about it. Well, having told everyone we know, here we are telling you and the rest of the world that our jaws dropped and we were speechless when she escorted us to the most magnificent villa we have seen in Thailand to date.

Privacy doors leading to our front door, glass walls everywhere with curtains for privacy when needed. Just outside is a beautiful patio with table, chairs and lounges with an overhead light and shade from the sun. Entering the villa, tranquil music playing through our audio system greeted us. [Later that week, when I asked Ying if we could buy the music to remind us of our stay at Mom Tri’s, she told us to feel free to take the CD home with us.] A TV was on with sound muted in both the living room and the bedroom (flat screen, of course). Atop the glass table surrounded by sofas was a welcome tray of fresh fruit, along with plates, silverware and linen napkins to greet us. Looking around the living area we saw the bar and well stocked refrigerator off to one side, a desk and work area (uh uh, we’ll have none of that please!) in another corner and, looking up towards the ceiling of this “A frame” Great Room was our very own Buddha with focused lighting illuminating it. The air conditioning is controlled separately from the bedroom’s. A set of ornate sliding doors isolates the bedroom from the living space. I have never seen so much closet space and so many drawers! There was even room to hide the four pieces of luggage, the carry-ons and the myriad souvenirs we had accumulated. Beyond the bedroom is a three part bathroom. The main area includes a sink with lots of counter space and a candle warming scented oil plus a huge bathtub. Next to this area is a glass enclosed shower and a separate water closet.

Did I mention fresh cut as well as live orchids everywhere? And yes, we did have a spectacular view of the ocean and beach too!

For the entire length of our stay at Mom Tri’s we never got over the beauty of returning to our new home away from home.

Each day started with an included buffet breakfast. There were eggs made to order, freshly squeezed juices, fruits, and baked goods along with typical Western fare. Traditional Thai breakfast dishes were available each morning as well. We tried not to miss sunset at the bar which coincided with Happy Hour each day. The wait staff was friendly and courteous; they remembered what we liked to drink before we sat down and waved to us every time we walked by.

Because we had a very late flight out on our last day at Mom Tri’s (1:50AM) we planned to check out, leave our luggage at the desk and spend most of the day at the beach. We figured we would clean up as best we could, go to Happy Hour followed by a dinner we had reserved at Mom Tri’s restaurant which we heard was a fine dining experience. When we stopped at the desk to inquire about a later check-out that morning our guardian angel, Ying was there. Actually, day or night, almost every time we approached the front desk Ying was there ready to assist. We told her our plans for the rest of the day and asked if there was a place we could shower before leaving the hotel for the 31 hour trip back to the USA. Ying consulted the hotel schedule and said we could stay in our suite for the rest of the day. We could not believe the astounding treatment we were receiving! We told Ying we would vacate at 6PM on the way to Happy Hour. At 6 Ying insisted that we leave our things in the villa until we were ready to leave in case we wanted to shower or freshen up.

Would we return to Mom Tri’s Villa Royale Hotel? With luck, we’ll be back next year. We hope Ying is still there!
