We stayed for 6 nights in early January and the photos accurately display this hotel and its marvelous setting. The staff are wonderful, friendly, and helpful, from the front security, reception, housekeeping, and servers. This is a boutique hotel with lots of Thai charm. The pool and grounds make up for the small rooms, providing lots of seating options including huge garden swings, lots of sunbeds around the pool, and various buildings to relax in. The king bed has a foot wide platform on each side that could be done away with and make the rooms feel much larger. We loved the bathroom and the pressure from the rain shower. On the plus side this hotel attracts mainly couples and its a nice group of guests that stay there. If you are organized and have medium size suitcases then the room size is less of a problem.

This was indeed one of the best buffet breakfasts and one night we had a set dinner with wine which was a nice experience in the beautiful dining hall.

There are lots of excellent and pricey restaurants around near the beach (about a 10 minute walk) like Two Chefs, The Horn and Grill Steak House, etc. Serene Kata Noi beach is a 200 baht ride away in a tuk tuk.

The staff was lovely, pool and other surroundings were beautiful and we liked to stay in the hotel area during the hot days since Kata Beach was such a horrible place to go to. Room was a bit on the small side, but very clean and had everything we needed. Also we could borrow an adapter from the reception, which was nice, and the breakfast was super. We thought that maybe the hotel was the best thing about our vacation :D

We loved the decor of the Sawasdee Village. The pool close to our door was just right, the jungle type vegetation gave us the feel of staying out in the wilds and the breakfast smorgasbord was huge! Well done Sawasdee! Your staff was attentive and pleasant! No complaints other than a high taxi fare back to the airport that is not under Sawasdee village control,

Pros:

Lovely grounds
Fabulous breakfast buffet -- omelets and waffles made to order
Clean & quiet
Beautiful dining room
Nearby beach is truly beautiful

Cons:

Very, very small room
Bathroom had an odor
Not on beach - but there was a free shuttle every hour
Street near hotel looked largely like the Jersey Shore on a bad day
