We are about to leave the Katathani and head home after spending 12 nights and 14 days here. May I say that this resort has everything. We were not happy with our room (junior suite Kata Noi wing) when we checked in so asked to be transferred to the junior suite Adaman wing where most of our family was staying. The reception organised this with ease and the next day we were in our room and very happy with it. The resort has quite a few pools around the grounds with bars nearby and different style of restaurants to choose from. There is an activity room with pool table and table tennis and electronic games and there is also free internet available there plus 2 other rooms with free internet. And thats just in the main part of the complex. There is also another wing further down the road with their own facilities, but you are free to use the whole resort. Breakfast was amazing and the nights that we did eat in the restaurants we enjoyed each meal. Staff were friendly and helpful and most spoke english. I absolutely loved staying here. It is out of the way, yet has all the things available that you may need for a holiday. If you feel like a cheap meal, then you just walk down the road to one of 3 restaurants available. The only down side is that if you really want to get anywhere, you have to take a taxi, though the resort also supplies a limited shuttle service to Patong and Phuket Town. I loved this resort. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be back as we found that we prefer to spend our holidays a little closer to home, but if we did have to return, we would stay at the Katathani for sure. The seaview is amazing. The resort itself has a lot of facillities and a few shops as well. And then there are a few shops, restaurants and spas along the street. The resort also has a lot of acitivities on to keep you busy if you like that sort of thing. We just loved relaxing by the pool.

Room Tip: The Adaman wing is much nicer than the Kata Noi wing.

We stayed in a Ocean Front Junior Suite as part of a deal we purchased on Deals.com.au last year. The Suite was situated on the second floor and we were able to sit on the balcony and watch the beautiful sunsets while sipping on a glass of wine or two. The Suite we stayed in was clean and tidy and the king size bed was just what the doctor ordered. If you didn't want to use the stairs there was a lift available to use.

The food served for breakfast was fantastic and there was plenty of variety to choose from. We were also given a dinner for two as part of our deal and we chose to dine at the Italian Restaurant La Scala. This is their finest restaurant and provides a very romantic setting inside for couples. There is soft music being played by a pianist and candlelit tables provide just the right setting for a beautiful evening. The food was exceptional and the service was five star. This was fine dining at its best. Now for the only fault I found was that in some cases the wine was marked up by 700%. A NZ Sauvignon Blanc that you can purchase in Australia for AUD $15-18 was being sold for AUD $120 per bottle. I think that this needs to be rectified as it would turn people away from dining there. You don't mind paying 2 to 3 times the bottle price however 700% makeup is way over the top. Enough of the negatives for now.

The staff at the hotel have been exceptional and are a credit to the Resort. They are always greeting us with a smile and a hello no matter what time of the day it is. The Resort needs to be congratulated on employing and training very good staff.

One thing that was annoying outside the Hotel were the prices charged by the Tuk Tuk drivers for a trip to Patong Beach. 500 Baht one way is ridiculous and cannot be justified. I can see that they are taking advantage of the tourists visiting Phuket and believe this is quite simply highway robbery. The taxis do not use their meter and also demand you pay them 500 Baht as well. The Resort does provide a shuttle service to Patong Beach at night for 150 Baht per person return however it only allows for you to spend 2 hours there before returning to the Resort. I suggest the Resort provide an hourly service to protect its guests from the Taxi and Tuk Tuk Mafia.

It has been a fantastic stay here at Katathani and we will be definitely coming back here again soon.

Room Tip: I would recommend you book a Junior Suite with an Ocean view.

We stayed 4 nights at this place & even though we were booked in for 8 days we decided it wasn't really for us. That doesn't mean it is a bad resort or doesn't have some positives. It just means that it is more an family resort than a couples place & not really the experience we were seeking. The positives are the beach that faces the resort is a great stretch of sand compared to many others in Phuket. The surf is clean & the resort has many large pools. The staff are friendly & the service is quite good. I would stay in the Thani wing as the other wing is a bit away from the action & views. The food is mixed. The Breakfast buffet was ok but nothing special & a bit army mess style as were their buffet theme nights. The meals at the Fishermen's Grill were good & the meal at La Scala was excellent to the point that it felt like it could have been at a much more upmarket resort. The resort is more 4 star than 5 (some reviews said 3* but I think that is unfair) but that is reflected in the price. Basically this is a large resort with lots of families on package deals with lots of kids who will generally have a pleasant holiday experience in the sun. We enjoyed aspects of our short time there....but it is not an intimate, boutique or romantic experience.... so for couples or those looking for something more unique, I personally would look at other options.

Room Tip: Ask for the ocean view Thani junior suite. Try to get one up near the spa on the third level away fr...

We went back in October this year to Katathani after our first visit which was before the tsuami (excuse if spelling wrong), The service and food was very good. the resort is quiet but just over the hill, a 10 minute walk away your in the hubbub of kata beach so its ideal. The beach is great large waves for playing about in.

I was pleasantly surprised by this resort. The Katathani Phuket resort is large - over 500 rooms, multiple restaurants, multiple swimming pools. I expected crowds but, because it is spread over a large area, it never seemed crowded. Located at the end of a quiet road, away from the bars and tattoo parlors further north, the Katathani resorts occupy all of the Kata Noi beachfront so, although it is a public beach, it has the feel of a private beach. This is one of the stunning beaches for which Phuket is famous - clear water, clean sand, strong surf, rimmed by rocks and palm trees,

Our junior suite room was very nice, located on the third floor with a view of the beach. The discount for Thai residents made the price quite reasonable. Breakfast, included with the room, was standard fare - a mix of Thai, continental, etc. Dinner at La Scala was expensive but good. Dinner at the Fisherman's Wharf was surprisingly good for several reasons. If orders are placed before 6 p.m., the lunch menu and lunch prices were offered. The menu had much more than just seafood including a number of vegetarian options and, located by the beach and with open-air seating, the sunset views were amazing.

As with almost every hotel we have experienced in Thailand, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds are immaculately groomed and secure.

We generally prefer smaller, "boutique" hotels but, despite its size, the Katathani is a resort we would certainly revisit.

Room Tip: The Thani wing has nice views of the beach. The Bhuri wing is on the landward side of the road and...

We stayed here (a group of 4 girls, 2 from Australia and 2 for UK) in beginning of June 2012. Unfortunately we were very unlucky with the weather tagging onto the tail end of a typhoon from China! However it did not dampen our moods :-)
The 2 Oz girls organised their airport transfer from the airport, I think they paid to get on a shuttle bus that stopped at a few hotels around Patong, Karon and Kata. Myself and my fellow UK companion opted to organise our transfer direct with the hotel. No complaints, we were met at the aiport and taken to the hotel in a lovely air conditioned car with cold water for us and cool face towels to freshen up with, great touch after a long journey.
The hotel itself is very well run and very well kept. Our rooms (Junior Suites - ocean front) were immacualte with a fantastic view of the sea and very much away from the main areas of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. We occasionally had lunch by the pool area but went out into town for dinners.
there's a great Thai restaurant opposite hotel to the right, we were eating tons and having carafes of wine and working out to be £6 each!! Food was excellent, it became a regular eating place for us.
Due to the weather there was NOTHING to do at the hotel which is probably the only fault I can add about it's facilities. We were just entering the monsoon season and I was suprised to find no activities organised to do in the hotel itself for rainy days. Many guests felt they didn't want to leave the hotel due to the rain - to give you an idea, it was like a river running down the road outside the hotel over a foot in depth so to a certain extent very much stuck inside. I was thinking if I had been with my husband and children that we would have been very much hotel bound with nothing to do so just an observation.
As we were on a girlie trip it wasn't really much of an issue, we occupied ourselves in the bars, well stocked and great service and we did venture out in the bad weather. The hotel managed to get a truck to take us out, perfect with the river running through the road so we wouldn't get stuck and we ventured into Patong and the various markets and shopping centres. All was not lost!
Great bargains out in the markets and shops and fantastic spa treatments, massages etc.
Liked the fact you could always agree price of Tuk Tuks and taxi before heading off and travel around the area was so cheap.
My first time to Thailand and was overall very impressed. Can't beleive how cheap it was to eat and drink, even the hotel prices which were dearer were still way cheaper than anything we would pay for in London.
Already recommended this hotel to a friend who is actually there right now! Well jealous. she has gone as a family so will be interested to hear how she found it with her kids.
Overall great break with the girls, would def stay here again.

Room Tip: Junior suites are the furthest away from the main areas so I would say probably the quietest and ver...

Three families traveled to Katathani and had the best time. Booked it on the net direct through the hotel site. Fantastic not a problem at all. All booked junior suit ocean front view packages which included pick up, breakfast, a meal and kids club. Arrived to find our van waiting for us (Great start) Arrived to the Katathani and were greeted by the gorgeous staff whom took our bags and checked us in. We were all upgraded to GRAND SUITES on the ground floor. Thanks so much. The rooms were amazing and far better than we could have imagined. The view was spectacular. Massive beds,TV, a spa, small fridge, great sitting area and large balcony area. Rooms serviced well each day and attended each night. Our housekeeper Amporn was gorgeous and did a fantastic job. She would make animal toys from the towels and leave little notes for our daughter. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. Just one thing the floor was really slippery. We did see a few people slip. Mozzies bad as in most places in Thailand, so take your sprays. Pools fantastic and pool staff excellent. We had some lunches by the pool and they were fine. Nothing to flash but ok. Drinks fine and prices not to bad either. We ate at the Italian restaurant for our included meal and it was superb. Could not fault it. The beach was lovely to walk along and we did so in the mornings. Yes Tuk Tuks out the front do have the monopoly but that's how it goes. We took a few rides into Kata for shopping and dinners. We did an elephant ride and the zoo from Katathani as it is closer than Patong. Our kids spent a couple of hours in the kids club on rainy days and they loved it and wanted to stay and go back. The lovely lady in charge there was wonderful with the children. Not much more I can tell you about the Katathani except to say WE WILL BE BACK and THANK YOU for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: If you can afford it the Grand Suites are amazing.
