We have just had 8 days staying in the burri wing for our sons wedding. Unfortunately over 40 of the 60 wedding guests went down with noro virus that hit hard and fast. There was a doctor on hand to give injections, however, the hotel was rather slow in reacting to the outbreak which did not affect just our group. Obviously the hotel is not to blame for the virus but we feel not enough was done quickly enough to help with hygiene.
The wedding was carried out to perfection, full marks to the hotel organisers for this.
Our rooms were disappointing, some smelling of mould and some needing upgrading. Staff were excellent and friendly. The pool area was lacking in staff to serve food and drink.

Room Tip: We would not use the burri wing again, better to choose a room in the main part of hotel.

Very relaxing holiday , great location , food and resort facilities.
Definitely returning next year maybe twice.
Pools at both sections were clean and great for morning and evening swim.
Breakfast and all meals outstanding at all venues.
Parking and security of bikes or cars are well look after.
Beach clean and safe for all ages to swim.
Easy location to either walk to or motor bike to Kata and other locations.

Room Tip: Level Three over looking pool in Bhuri wing

Our initial thoughts on checking into the Katathani was disappointment. The resort is quite old (and in some areas, dated) and their room rates are pretty expensive. Whilst our room at modern furniture and an updated bathroom, it still had an 'old' feel to it. That aside, the resort is beautiful. The lawns and pools are immaculately kept and the resort is right on the beach. It felt like you were in a different world and everything was at your fingertips- massage, food, drinks, beach, pool etc. The service was great and all the staff are very friendly. I would recommend this resort if you are wanting a 'resort' holiday as to spend the amount they charge per room you would want to make the most of their facilities.

My wife and I stayed here for a friends wedding. We were impressed by the facilities, staff, the cleanliness of the hotel, pools and the beach areas. The wedding was also at the hotel and it seemed like the staff were on the ball with everything from start to finish. The setting on the beach with the sunset was just magical!

I think it is great that the hotel is far away from the craziness of the towns, market places and hustle and bustle of the busy roads.

As a South African the food and drinks are a bit on the pricey side so we did eat out in the town for lunch and dinner which was actually very nice.

Over all we really enjoyed every minute of our stay and would most definitely go back!

We have just had five nights at Katathani Resort, our second visit and were a little sceptical being right on the cusp of high season and being warned on many occasions about the influx of Eastern Europeans. That is not a racial comment but we must have experienced the warning at least a dozen times before going.
The resort was just as brilliant as before, great facilities, immaculate gardens, lovely staff, good massage ladies wandering through the gardens, excellent breakfast but can be a bit hectic with volume of people. It sits on a great beach ideal for walking and swimming (with care). Grounds developed to provide good shade. Stayed in a Grand Suite which is starting to look and feel tired and quite dark with the amount of timber. Front balconies also feel hemmed in with dark dividers and heavy timber that semi blocks the view.
Will certainly consider again, but for the money it will need an upgrade of the suits.

We had a large family wedding group staying in different wings of the Katathani resort for a total 14 days in mid October 2013. We were all spread out by choice and opted for different packages, my own direct family group of 5 opting for half board. There was a total of just under 30 of us in 6 or 7 smaller family groups including 10 very young children (1 month up to 7 years.)
Couldn't fault the Service and politeness of the staff, the amenities available, or the food. We all had different styles of rooms and none of us had any complaints about them. The kids loved the various pools and of course the beach, and in particular, the Childrens Club. (It is worth pointing out that this is not a resort for party animals. It is a fairly sedate and quiet place mainly for wedding parties, families and those who want a quiet evening. Although party animals can easily get into town which is less than 10 minutes away.)
Our wedding was well organised and went off without a hitch on perhaps the best day for the glorious beach sunset and we got some stunning photographs.

Overall, and under normal circumstances, I would be happy to go back to this resort. But for one problem. There was a stomach bug at the resort and within 2 or 3 days of arriving, we all started to go down with it, one by one. Luckily it mostly lasted only 24-48 hours but of the 30 of us, about 24 or 25 of us got it over the 14 days. (One lady in our party had 3 separate bouts of it.)
As more of us got it, we learnt that other parties also were affected. And we also learnt the bug had been present at the resort since mid August! But nobody from the hotel staff had made any mention of this when we arrived, and in my view, they should have. Instead, they chose to keep quiet about it, no doubt with an eye to possible cancellations if it got out they had had the bug there for almost 2 full months, with no sign of it going away.
I have read all the recent reviews and am surprised that nobody else has mentioned this bug. Given how widespread it was while we were there. Unless of course, bad reviews mentioning a stomach bug get filtered out! It will be interesting to see if my review gets deleted.

My Partner and I recently stayed 6 nights at the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. When we arrived at the resort we were greeted by friendly staff that spoke a pleasing amount of english.

Our room was average, it was looking a little tired, could definetely benefit from a renovation. Was much more dated than the photos of the resort had shown when we booked the accommodation.

The resort itself was quite large. There were about 5 restaurants in total and a few bars on the beach and by the many pools available. There were also a number of cocktails available in happy hour (which was between 5.30pm and 7pm each night) so after a day spent in the pool or on the beach you could enjoy a cheap and tasty cocktail and watch the sunset.

The beach was beautiful, nice and clean and the water was so clear and warm. Much nicer than the beach at Patong.

This resort was nice and removed from the hustle and bustle of Patong, with the town centre of Kata and Karon not far at all. You could walk to Kata, and a taxi fare for 500 Baht got you to the shopping mecca of Patong.

Overall this resort was fantastic. We didn't have any problems, the staff were friendly and helpful, he restaurants had a great range and good quality of food on offer, and there were even a couple of other independently run restaurants not part of the resort just outside the resort that served a large variety and good quality of food.

Great location and overall fantastic experience.
