We spent 2 pleasant nights at the the Gorilla Bambou lodge (village). The service was without any fault and the staff always smiling and efficient. The rooms are clean and well furnished, the fire place will keep you warm during the cold nights. The breakfast and the diner buffets are very good. The place is well maintained and very green which provides a quite and peaceful environment to rest after the mountain trekking. Little bonus, they clean your shoes after the gorilla expedition.
Highly recommended.

My friend and I stayed at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for two nights either side of our gorilla trek in mid-June. We had the lodge to ourselves which meant undivided attention and service by the team there. Prior to arriving we had arranged a pick up from Kigali, with the lodge owner Emmanuel driving us himself. On our departure his wife Jackie was our driver/guide on to our next stop. A great service.

Emmanuel, Jackie and Terer, the lodge manager, were so welcoming and helpful we were made to feel completely at home. They were on hand to help at all times. The rest of the staff were also very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the dancing by the local children on our arrival day and the post-trek boot cleaning was also a welcome surprise and much needed.

The lodge is comfortable and cosy and the perfect base for the treks here, only a short drive from the meeting point on trek day. The rooms are individual cottages which were private and each had a fireplace adding warmth and charm. On the downside, the bathroom was pretty small and not that well-appointed but did the trick. At least there was hot water and electricity available at all times which isn’t always guaranteed in the mountains.

Food was very plentiful but a bit hit and miss with some good dishes and some not so great…

Overall we were very happy with our stay and for the price and service we received I would gladly recommend Le Bambou to others.

The people are very friendly here, but we were disappointed with the food and the temperature of our bungalow. Since it's in the Volcano area, it was damp and cold -- our bedspread even felt wet! This was not too comfy, as we had just driven a long way and seen the gorillas. The lodge does have a good location and the staff was very service oriented. But, we were quite disappointed with the food -- it was mediocre at best.

Le bambou gorilla village is a very comfortable place to stay for your gorilla trekking. It is located at the foot of mountain gorillas, the home of mountain gorillas. The cottage are large and well furnished with nice beds hand made in bamboo. Rooms are giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation. There are fire place in the cottage and staff provide a hot water bottle to warm the room. The staff are very helpful, attentive and the food was fine, varied and of a good quality. Drinks are not cheap if you drink imported stuff but if you take local beers (Made in Rwanda) you will not spend much money. We really enjoyed the place and would like to recommend it to anyone who like to visit gorillas in virunga national park.

Room Tip: Please choose room number 3 with a great view of mountain volcanoes.

Our stay was characterised by fantastic service....nothing was too much trouble for them and they were very thoughtful.

The separate bungalows were modern, spotless and well appointed.

Highly recommended.
