Description: The chetnole is a country inn boasting a good range of real ales. we have a lunchtime snack menu for a quick light lunch as well as our full menu if you wish to treat yourselves. Our menu is complimented by a wide selection of wines. We have a lovely beer garden for those nice sunny days and log burners for the cold winter nights. Your four legged friends are welcome in our snug bar where they will find buscuits and a water bowl. Children are more than welcome and can eat off there own menu or smaller portions of some of the main dishes can be arranged.

I had lunch here today. The food was fine, not remarkable. The staff did their job but I didn't feel particularly welcome and the place lacked atmosphere. Maybe I just hit a bad day because all the other reviews have been great. But I'm just being honest!

My grandparents live in Chetnole, and I always love coming to visit them from the States because it means coming to eat at the Chetnole Inn. This time, I had the wild boar sausages with mashed potatoes, and it was absolutely delicious. We had whitefish to start (yummy!), and we all enjoyed trying the local ales. Can't wait to be back.

The food at this little inn, in Chetnole Dorset is right up there with the best in London...
We ate in Scotts and Wolsey over the last few weeks and they dont come anywhere near the taste of the great cooking at this little inn .... just excellent. We ate at Corrigans in Mayfair on the 8th Feb 13 .. the wine was cheap but expensive the meal was not bad but the bill was pathetic for what we had 170.00 gbp for two ... and the taste comes no where near the Chetnole Inn.
When I return to the UK it is straight to the Chetnole for me..... keep it up guys.

We have visited the Chetnole Inn on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent, the staff pleasant and helpful and the pub itself is charming.

Following the advice of Tripadvisor we had lunch in this pub whilst travelling through Dorset. It was a good stop! The atmosphere in the pub was pleasant - with a warm fire in the "snug" and with hops hanging from the beams. The menu was varied with interesting choices. We ate the "Lamb 3 ways" and the Sea- bass with chilli and crab pancakes. We followed with ice-cream and lemon tart with balsamic strawberries and cream. Both meals were very good and well presented. The rather boring salad and the rather too overpowering balsamic vinegar on the strawberries were the only disappointing items - but these did not spoil a good meal. The service was fast and efficient. Several locals came in to drink at the bar while we were there and the other tables were full. Some interesting food events were advertised including a "Game Evening" with all the menu based on game and served tapas style. We would certainly recommend this as a great place to eat.
