My wife and I have just spent 3 nights at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it, especially if you can take advantage of some of the great deals that they offer from time to time. (We had 3 nights B&B for £187 total). Just 10 minutes straight along the A422 into Stratford, you can have the best of both worlds.
The hotel sits in its own lovely large grounds (which incl a 3 hole golf course), and is based around a gothic style mansion which has been very tastefully extended to provide modern accommodation. It seems to be undergoing some discreet redecoration at the moment. Public area carpets are brand new, and painters moved into the reception area the day we left. Our room was large and well equipped with plenty of storage and a desk. Limited number of TV channels but then we didn't go all that distance to watch TV.Guests have free access to the swimming pool and mixed use sauna, both of which were excellent. Breakfasts were the usual buffet assortments and fine, with good service form the staff. Dinner food was excellent, but on our first night things were a bit chaotic with people waiting up to an hour for desserts some of which were eventually unavailable. The staff did their best but I think were caught out by a large party of over 20 all turning up at once instead of their prebooked times.
All of the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful, and we would have no hesitation in booking the Ettington Chase next time we go to Stratford.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the front of the hotel.

We stayed for a night and were impressed with the newly refurbished modern interior and the helpful staff. It's about 10 mins drive from Stratford and is a much quieter option than staying in the town. It's mostly a 'conventions' venue but we got a good deal on the room price and it was better value than the Travelodge. There was a murder mystery weekend being hosted and we were politely advised by the staff that we might come across the occasional dead body which we found quite amusing. The bedrooms are clean and well appointed but lack character - this was fine for us on an overnight stay. I wish I'd packed my cozzie as there is a leisure centre and pool which is open to guests. We ate in the bar and although the bar food menu isn't vast we preferred it to the formal restaurant menu. However, the bar staff said we could have anything from the restaurant menu if we wanted.

Went for a two night stay and can't really complain. The staff were nice and friendly. The room was clean, modern and air conditioned. We had an end room not in the main building but only a short walk from reception. The hotel grounds were nice and peaceful. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were great, for a supposedly busy hotel we seemed to be the only people using them ! Don't forget to bring a pound for the locker, something they don't tell you ! Also there is no 'spinner' but plastic bags are supplied. Only problem was that the shower gel/soap wasn't replaced in the mens showers but loads in the ladies. The breakfast was really good, hot and topped up. If i had to complain, not sure if it's really a complaint, but the staff were too keen to remove your plate when you finished breakfast; but no problem just get another plate and fill it up! The coffee was good and brought to us straight away. We didn't have a meal in the evening in the hotel, we went to the Chequers inn in the village which is a two minute walk away, great food and beer but the meal wasn't cheap and the portion could have been bigger. The staff at Chequers were nice and the service was quick. The other pub in the village, the 'white horse inn' is closed down so pubs were limited to say the least. The hotel would benefit from a shuttle bus to Stratford upon avon. Overall, very happy and would stay again no problem. We had two nights for £112 with breakfast which is a bargain (shop around for the best deal!)

We had a fantastic deal at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, the food was good, and the surroundings were lovely. Any problems we had were dealt with immediately, we were made to feel special.

Having read the reviews prior to visiting, I had in mind what to expect and got just that. The place is ok but nothing special. The room was just average and slightly travel lodgeish! We got the hotel on a special offer so wasnt too bothered however I would be if I'd paid full price. Other than that the staff are friendly and the pool is pleasent.

So many negative comments from other posters that, having just returned from Ettington Chase, I found the negativity to really only be appropriate to hotels where you pay a lot more, and unfair to this hotel based on the cost of accomodation. For the price of this weekend break everything was excellent. Sure we could have cause to write some negative comments but this would only be the case had we paid at least double the price and therefore expected a silver service. Staff, location, rooms, cleanliness, food etc all great for such a reasonable price.
