Stayed here recently for a long weekend with the missus. Great location for exploring the local area including Stratford, Cotswold villages etc.

Room - Average (Premier Inn is slightly better) - we booked a regular double.
Breakfast - good, lots of choice.
Decor - basic (bathrooms are a little tired)
Bed - very soft mattress that left you rolling into the middle. I left with a slightly bad back.
Staff - Excellent. All very polite and good attention to detail even during a busy breakfast.
Pool - Nice with sauna and jacuzzi. Gym is a little small and cramped.

Like the a previous reviewer the room was a bit cold when we arrived. We put the radiator on and it warmed up a little but then in the middle of the night, it was raging hot!! Definitely needs better temperature control.

Note this hotel caters for weddings on the weekends and though we didn't experience much noise I can see how if you get the wrong room, you are in for a night of noisy revellers.

The hotel is basically a business hotel in the week and a wedding hotel on the weekend.

Thank you for your review following your recent stay with us. Whilst we are a reasonably large hotel with 130 bedrooms and 15 meeting rooms which does operate in the conference and wedding markets we also pride ourselves on being able to deliver the level of service and product to suit the leisure guest too. Sorry if you feel this was not the case during your visit.

Kind regards
Stuart Fleming - General Manager

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The hotel is very large but there is a good level of personal service which you don't often find, especially in the restaurant in the evening. The reception is efficient (if a little lacking in warmth when checking in) and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped.

I booked a 2 night break at the Ettington Chase Hotel on a Groupon offer which seemed like a good deal when I booked it. However it seems that this hotel caters mainly for weddings as for the two days we were there there was a wedding on both days. The room that myself and my husband were allocated (Room 319) couldn't have been in a worse location, overlooking the front entrance and facing on to the wedding function room where loud music up until 1.00 am both nights, rather inebriated wedding guests having loud conversations under our room up until approx 2.00 am, and from 7.00 am the loud noise of people pulling suitcases across the flagstones on both mornings meant we didn't really get much sleep. It certainly wasn't the relaxing break in the countryside that we were expecting and we've returned home rather sleep-deprived!

Surely it would make more sense for the hotel to allocate this room to wedding guests staying for whom the music and partying wouldn't present much of a problem. The hotel must surely be aware of the problems experienced in this room by now. My advice is if you are a couple and want a relaxing weekend break then the Ettington Chase Hotel is not the ideal venue.

Room Tip: Check in advance if there is a wedding/s on during your stay. If so opt for a smaller, quieter hote...

Sorry to read that your stay was disturbed by other guests. We do ask that all guests consider others when returning to their bedrooms after 11pm. We try and allocate guests a room appropriate to their reason for visiting but on occasion this may not be possible. I apologise if this caused you any inconvenience. I would add that after you experienced a disturbance on the first night of your stay had you notified our management team of this they may have been able to offer you an alternative bedroom for the second night.

Kind regards

This pleasant hotel is about 6 miles from Stratford upon Avon and were were staying at the hotel as part of a Groupon deal.

On arrival at the huge car park of the hotel we checked in at reception where we were greeted, quickly processed and were soon in our very pleasant room.
Our short walk from reception to our room was interesting especially as the walls were decorated with excellent black and white photographic pictures.

The en-suite double room was pleasantly decorated but slightly cool in temperature. This situation was partly remedied by changing the setting on the radiator to fully open but the radiator only got warm. We were therefore surprised to be woken up in the middle of the night to find that it was now extremely hot???

We had two very comfortable quiet nights in the hotel.

The double bed was comfortable with a large double duvet and 4 pillows. There was more than adequate drawer and hanging space for our 2 night stay. We were surprised to find that there was an ironing board in the clothes hanging space which took up all of the space. This was promptly moved to another part of the room so that we could hang our clothes.

Tea and coffee making equipment was available in the room and an adequate flat screen television. The room also had a telephone and a radio alarm clock.

A safe was installed in the wardrobe but despite having a service engineer check it out we were unable to get the locking mechanism to work.

The reasonable sized bathroom consisted of a bath, including a shower unit over the bath, wash basin and toilet. Toiletries consisted of soap, shower gel and shampoo. Very nice fluffy towels were available but the room lacked sufficient hooks/rails upon which to hang all of the towels (two small and 2 bath towels). There was no cupboard space but there was a very adequate shelf beneath the huge mirror upon which to put our wash-bags etc.

We made use of both the wonderful and spacious indoor swimming pool and the jacuzzi. The swimming pool water was delightfully warm and the jacuzzi was much warmer and very pleasant.
There was also a sauna and gym equipment for all to use.

Meals were available in the Tempus Restaurant. We had a very good dinner there and two very enjoyable buffet breakfasts. Service was good, as was the food quality.

The hotel has a bar but we did not make use of it.

Within a 5 minute walk were two public houses that served food. We had a meal in the Chequers Inn which was excellent.

We would certainly recommend this hotel and would make use of the hotel again should we visit the area again.

On arrival staff in Reception were most welcoming and they quickly arranged for our luggage to be taken from the car and up to our room - the staff throughout were friendly and helpful. Our room was delightful - the beds the most comfortable we have ever found - and the accessible bathroom quickly won praise from my friend who is physically disabled. Maybe our only (very small) criticism was that the television was a little too small for the size of the room! The service in the restaurant was good but not rushed and the food excellent. The pool and Jacuzzi were an added bonus. The countryside around the hotel is peaceful yet within easy reach of Stratford which we visited on 23 April (not being Shakespeare's greatest fans, we were unaware this was his birthday !) We saw Stratford under blue skies and in warm sunshine, enjoying a leisurely lunch at one of the many street cafes and wandering along the tow path by the Avon to visit the church. We returned home with happy memories of a delightful stay and certainly plan a re-visit.
Note for those with physical disabilities: There is a sloping path up to the rooms - easily negotiated in an electric buggy but possibly not so convenient for someone (maybe an older person) pushing a manual wheelchair

Room Tip: Room 302 has facilities for people with physical disabilities

The gallery on the website showed a beautiful building with newly renovated rooms. This was far from reality. As we drove into the site, we thought we were in the wrong place as it looked like a nursing home/ student flats. Once past the fantastic reception (in the gothic style original building) we were back in the nursing home with dated furniture, a phone I remember from the 80s, toilet that didn't flush properly, tiny bath, stained throw on the bed, TV remote that didn't work (even though we didn't go to watch TV, it's always nice to have it on when you're getting ready to go out), thin walls so we could hear next door, the bed was so soft we kept on 'falling' into the middle as it had no support, WiFi only for thirty minutes a time, and the check out queue was out of the reception room and down the corridor. Look closely at one of their photographs, you can just see the nursing home/ student flat accommodation. What a let down! Glad it was an offer and we didn't pay full price.

We stayed at Ettington Chase just for one night as a groupon deal, we found it good value, the two course meal included was from a restricted choice but was still very nice, all the staff we met were very friendly and welcoming, the room was basic but clean and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel was chosen as a base to visit the surrounding area and was a good choice.
