“Great for a weekend break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

A nice place in a lovely area of the Cotswolds and great surroundings.
Good leisure facilities, nice menu in the restaurant
Our room was standard and adequate for us, nice and quiet.
Nice breakfast with pleasant service.
Would recommend and stay again.

Having quickly checked other reviews, I would alter my opinion in respect of classifying this only as a conferencing and venues hotel, IF I had booked an upgraded room, but of course, priced accordingly. I had a classic double, which was simply, but pleasantly styled and very spacious. The bathroom was a little dated. Disappointingly, the window, tho styled to match the old house part of the Hotel, is narrow and looked out over the rest of the building. The nicer views are clearly from the upgraded rooms.
The styling of the public areas is pleasant but not characterful, more suited to business meetings (though photos of the restaurant food and dim lighting tends to create an ambience).
I had bar food, which was reasonably priced bearing in mind it is a Hotel, but the sandwich was a bit bland, the bread was a bit chewy at the edges as though recently defrosted. The chowder was pleasant. Staff were very professional and friendly.
The original part of the building is lovely from the outside with a stylish glass door entrance, but the "workings" of the Hotel are primarily in the modern building attached.
For a Hotel of this size, I found the description of the "Spa" was inapt. There is only a pool, and sauna, not sizeable or attractive enough to draw me in.
It is a good hotel but I found it a bit bland compared to other Hotels.

Room Tip: I suggest if you want a nice view, specifically ask for one but expect the room to be priced accordi...

We booked a three night break to celebrate my Husbands Birthday. Arrived on the Friday afternoon, on checking in at Reception we were advised there would be a Wedding on the Saturday into the evening. When we went to the room only 3 pillows. One small bottle of shampoo, one small bottle of shower gel. Tiny bar of soap. Felt a bit basic. We did not eat at the hotel for dinner. On the Saturday when we came back it was very busy because of the wedding. Not enough care given to guests staying that had not anything to do with the wedding. On Sunday we left the room for over 7 hours on our return the room had not been cleaned, we complained and given some teabags and milk to make a drink. We asked that the room be ready when we returned from a swim at the hotel leisure club. When we returned, housekeeping had left us a bottle of red wine and chocolate as an apology. This was much appreciated. The Leisure Club is not maned by staff all of the time towels have to be obtained from reception which is a pain. The emergency telephone by the changing rooms was missing, but one by the pool. All looking a bit tired. Poor lockers. Breakfast on the first morning was good but eggs poor. Rather caotic following two mornings with some foods running out. Not enough attention given to younger staff management. Grounds look nice but could be better. Windows on rooms could be cleaner around frames. A conference hotel needs some updating. All in all a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Difficult to say, ask for a quiet room if that is what you want.

We booked the hotel via special little breaks, with two friends. We had already decided to upgrade to superior rooms before our arrival. The hotel was originally a small country house set in beautiful grounds. To one side an enourmous range of buildings have been added as the hotel caters for conferences. This building houses a inside swimming pool, gym, the restaurant and the majority of the bedrooms. The superior rooms are adjacent to the old house and overlook the pretty grounds at the rear.

Our room was huge, contemporary decor and design. Colours were browns beiges. The bathroom had a double shower one end and bath with shower at the other end. Modern tiles and fittings. All was very clean.

On our second day we had a problem with the lock on our room door. It had broken and could no longer be opened with a card key. We had to ask for a member of staff to let us in each time, with the master key. By way of recompense, the management agreed to waiver the upgrade cost for us and our friends. We were also given the dinner menu from tbe a la carte together with a lovely bottle of chardonnay. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble.

We were very impressed with the wonderful staff, food and overall standard of the food and accommodation. We are planning another visit!

Room Tip: A room away from the conference rooms

This hotel is set in an amazing backdrop. The facilities are brilliant including the leisure area and pool. The staff were really helpful in giving recommendations of where to eat and couldn't do enough for us.
The breakfast was self service and came with everything possible plus it was really tasty.

First impressions were not great. I had originally called the hotel, prior to purchasing the deal, to check the dates were available. After being told there was plenty of availability on the requested date, when I rang the following day to book, the dates I wanted were full! The telephone booking system was also a lengthy process, I was waiting in a queue for about 20 minutes each time.
On arrival we were warmly greeted by friendly staff. The room was nice and clean and spacious but didn't have a great view. The dinner that was included was of a good standard and came out very quickly. If anything we would have preferred a litle more time in between courses. The buffet breakfast was lovely, good choice and nice and hot. The staff were all very friendly. I'd recommend a stay here and would stay again if visiting the area.

Thank you for your positive review following your recent stay with us. I apologise if your preferred dates were not available when calling to make your booking but as these offers can be very popular certain dates do sell out very quickly. I was pleased to read that you had an enjoyable stay with us though and I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
