We managed to get a room by calling the House, as it showed as booked on Late Rooms.
Owner was very accommodating, and made us feel welcome without being intrusive.
Our room was clean and comfortable, and plenty of tea/coffee etc available.
Views across the valley are terrific, and there are many lovely places to visit in easy driving distance. The breakfast was enormous, freshly cooked and very good. Lots of fruit, yoghurts and toast available too. I don't know why people moan about the farm dogs being around - it is a FARM, and also states well-behaved pets welcome. There was NO evidence of having been any pets in our rooms.
We visited Castle Coombe while we where there and it is absolutely beautiful! We will definitely come back

Had an enjoyable one night stay at this bed and breakfast. A clean and tidy room with cottage feel. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. A really comfortable bed. Welcoming but not intrusive host. Breakfast was served in the conservatory with beautiful views over the garden and the countryside. A full English breakfast was offered which was not greasy and a choice of fresh fruit and cereals. Overall a great find!

We were made to feel very welcome at Toghill. The room was spotlessly clean, along with the bedding and towels. The views from the room were amazing. Very tasty breakfast which was served with a smile. The family were more than happy to let our son, who works and lives locally, join us for breakfast each morning. We would certainly go back.

No idea where the 1 star reviews come from?! We managed to book toghill at short notice for one night for a local wedding.

Firstly, Mrs Bishop was incredibly accommodating. She allowed us to check in early to get changed for the wedding and the following day was kind enough to offer us a lift down into wick which we had left at the reception venue the night before. Amazing customer service.

Secondly, the room. We stayed in room 3. It was spacious, traditionally decorated, very clean with a good sized bathroom. In addition it had an adjoining room with two single beds. We didn't take the kids but this would have been perfec for them. Th view over the rolling English countryside was fantastic.

Thirdly, the breakfast. Full English swiftly delivered and very very tasty.

For the price I really can't recommend this place enough, we would definitely come back.

Brilliant.

I recently visited Toghill house farm B & B for one night with my girlfriend whilst we visited Bath, the previous evening we had enjoyed an excellent stay at a nearby hotel which had cost only £7 more but were unfortunately not able to extend the stay for two nights.

The one fault of this accommodation over all others is the price; £82 per night is simply not an acceptable amount to charge for the standard you receive. The price is similar to that you would expect to pay at a hotel but without any of the facilities or reasonably sized space, I felt genuinely ripped off at the amount as soon as I stepped foot in the room- it was impossible to move around in a normal fashion due to the cramped nature of the roof space. The positives are that the property has a good location between Bath and Bristol and the local scenery is impressive, however this was not enough to make up for the negatives- I would certainly recommend against staying here and paying a bit extra if necessary to stay somewhere far nicer as I certainly wish I had done.

Room Tip: certainly don't stay in a loft space room- if the pricing policy is consistent don't stay at...

We booked this accommodation because we wanted somewhere that could offer adjoining rooms. On the website, all looked fine, and indeed it was; however, we received the impression that not enough care was being taken, and indeed Toghill Farm is up for sale, which may be the reason.
The two adjoining rooms we booked were clean, but the decor is twee and fussy. The bathroom was OK but hadn't been updated for years. One of the bottles of water on our tray was half empty - not a big deal, but it makes you wonder how thorough the cleaning had been. On being shown to our room, no key was in the door - this was brought up to the room an hour later - a small thing, but it makes you wonder how thoroughly rooms are checked. Also, although we are dog lovers, we don't allow dogs in our bedrooms at home, but one of the Toghill family pets wandered in and asked for some attention... do hope he hadn't been allowed on the bed before we arrived.....

Breakfast was perfectly OK.

Room Tip: Family room (adjoining rooms) are OK but a little bit cramped if you were to fill all the beds!

My parter and I stayed here for one night whilst visiting relatives in Bristol.

On a positive side the property is very picturesque with beautiful views all around. The main courtyard which the rooms surround is very pretty with lots of flowers.

Unfortunately things then went downhill. We stayed on a B&B basis but were given a room in one of the self catering parts as all the B&B rooms were already taken. The room was rather dated and a bit twee but this is an old farmhouse so that could be forgiven. However, the chest of drawers had a broken front, there were no glasses for us to have a glass of water (let alone bottled water in the room), there was only one bedside cabinet, the tv on the wall was right above the kettle so was covered in steam when making tea and there was no hair dryer or any other thing you might expect in a room costing £88 per night.

Then we moved to the bathroom and were amazed to find the light switch was actually above the bath and within the shower curtain. Incredible!! There was also paint peeling off the walls, no towel rail or toilet roll holder and the spare toilet rolls were soggy as they were at the end of the bath and sprayed with water from the shower.

At least the bed was comfortable!

Oh well - maybe breakfast would make up for it. The choice was cooked or not. In other B&Bs I've stayed in recently I've had a wide choice of breakfasts including kippers, haddock, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs but not here. At that room rate I would expect more. So up came the cooked Full English and it didn't even include a sausage. There were also not enough tables for all the guests (we got the last one) and then we were astonished to see the family dogs wandering around and under peoples tables. Not terribly hygienic where food is being served. We also noticed dogs sitting on the furniture in the guest lounge.

And then the final piece de resistance - when we were leaving the place, there on the main path in front of us was a lovely deposit of dog mess.

This place may have a number of rosettes / stars but it was far from the standard we were expecting and was hugely expensive compared to other far better properties we have stayed in. We wont be back.

Room Tip: Choose another guest house.
