“Delicious dinner, spacious room!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2013

I stayed at the Weingut Weis with my mother and aunt for one night as we toured the beautiful city of Trier. My aunt had been in charge of booking this leg of our trip, and she booked us here. Upon arrival, we were awed by the rolling vineyards. Absolutely stunning! We also noticed that the entire building smelled like meat, but I suppose that is to be expected when staying in a rural German inn. The front desk manager was lovely and helpful, although I'm quite sure he was the only person in the hotel who spoke any English. We ate at the hotel's restaurant for dinner, and we were assured that our waiter spoke English... it soon became apparent that his English, bless his heart, was about as good as our German (which is nearly non-existant). Despite the awkward language barrier, we had an excellent dinner of traditional German food. My aunt and I had the weiner schnitzel, and my mother had the pork cheeks. Everything was absolutely delicious. The breakfast, included in the price I believe, was also very good. An excellent spread!

Our room was a triple room, and it was absolutely massive. A very clean bathroom as well. However, the wireless internet did not quite reach our room, as it was in the far front corner of the building. I must have made for an interesting sight for the other guests... the young Canadian woman sitting with her laptop in the hallway in her pyjamas at 10pm!

Overall it was a lovely, if not slightly surreal, experience. A comfortable room and a delicious dinner. What more could we have asked for?

I´ve stayed in many hotels around the world. But this one is so near the top of the best. Not only is the hotel spotless but the staff is "spotless" as well. Had a room that was spacious, well appointed, and had a balcony. (As a smoker in a smoke-less world, the balcony was my respite. and found that the room maids even washed my ash tray.) As other reviews indicate, the hotel is part of a working winery. This area of Germany IS wine. The steep hills surround you no mater where you are. Fascinating. The name "Weingut" in the hotel name has a big significance in the Germany wine world. Weis is the family name. Seems the family is in its 4th generation of wine people in this area. Close to Trier, Luxembourg, and France by motorway. WILL stay there for certain again. Have left our email to be notified for next years grape picking time. Want to see humans work the hills of grapes.
The dining area is lovely, the service wonderfully "old fashioned," and the menu, though limited is a combination of local items and international.
Breakfast buffet included in room cost is quite fine!

Room Tip: I would suggest a room with a balcony.

We stayed here for three nights on our way to Luxembourg. It is a working vineyard, and the wine is good! The Hotel is spotless and the staff are genuine in trying to help. Little English is spoken, but if you try a litle German, you get by. The locals seem to enjoy the restaurant. which is also very good. The best part is the location: in a little village a few minutes from Trier itself. You need a car to get around and the next village has a couple of restaurants. The double room was comfortable, but basic, though the bathroom was new, which is always welcome. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a front room looking over the valley. Very pretty with a little balcony.

I stayed here about 4-5 times the last 4 years. It is a good place to visit Trier (5 min by car to
the city centre) and Luxembourg (about 40 km to drive-it takes 30 min via the Motorway) to
avoid the very expensive Luxembourg gastronomy. I stayed in a single room (quite small but
ok for one night). The double rooms overlook the ruver valley - my single room had a view ower the vinyards (very bucolic in the afternoon - but dont forget you a visiting an operating
wine producing farm so a little bit of noise in the morning). Sleeping quality was good, tidiness good, service quality faultless. The big positive point is the restaurant: very good
choice, copious wine list (very fair prices), professionel service also quite popular with locals

We've made overnight stays here twice. Rooms have both looked out over the vineyards and the Ruwer valley and were well equipped (but the wireless internet didn't work except in the reception area). Hotel has a nice quiet location. Big car park.

The restaurants (4 separate rooms in total) must be very popuplar with locals as they were almost full both times though the hotel itself had many rooms unlet as it was out of season. Most of the staff spoke some English, though our basic German helped. Dinners good, extensive buffet breakfasts were excellent.

Arriving early on one overnight stay, we asked the receptionist to suggest a wark, and we tood a very pleasant walk of about an hour all through the vineyards and woods around the village.
