On arrival a bit taken aback by the decor - but really warmed to it! The service, food and ambience impeccable. Welcomed warmly by Gareth - we had a lovely room (No 2) at rear of building - excellent facilities, probably one of the best showers we have experienced. We ate from the a la carte menu - absolutely superb. As previously mentioned by a reviewer the young lady who served in the bar, restaurant and at breakfast is a great asset to the place as is Gareth. Also a bonus Friday's is a half price 'fizz day' - lovely way to start the weekend. We also found all the shops we visited during our stay to have very friendly staff - so in our books when we travel north Boroughbridge and the Grantham Arms will definitely be our No 1 stop

Stayed at this hotel for the weekend. It is a lovely hotel with a nice atmosphere and an excellent chef who dealt well with requests not on the menu and produced some fine meals.
The young girl who served us breakfast and did numerous other things was so quiet, efficient and polite, she is a wonderful asset to the hotel.
Only two little niggles, there were dead flies and moths in the lampshade, but to be fair, unless the cleaners had the main light on they wouldn't see that. Also chef, how nice it would be to get thicker bread for the toast. Well done to everyone.

We stayed here for one night with another couple. We were greeted by a very pleasant, professional young man who was obviously expecting us and the booking in was done very quickly with offers of help with our luggage. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. Lovely en suite with a power shower. The beds were comfortable and rooms quiet even though it is situated on a roundabout. We ate in the restaurant and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The staff were friendly, smart and gave excellent service. Our stay was very happy and we would certainly recommend it and would be more than happy to return.

Both I and my colleagues have stayed in most if not all of the Hotels in Boroughbridge and the surrounding area when working at our sister company based in the town. The high standard of the rooms, quality of the food and the welcoming friendly nature of Gareth and his staff (Even when we roll in at 1am after a long days work or a night out in the likes of York / Knaresborough) is why the Grantham Arms is our always our first Hotel of choice when we are in the area.

If you are looking for a Hotel in Boroughbridge you can't beat the Grantham Arms (And we should know as we've tried them all)

I have been staying here a lot recently with work colleagues and am thoroughly impressed. The quality of the rooms is of a very high standard, and no matter how untidy you make it during the stay, it is back to its pristine, immaculate self the next day.

In addition to this, the staff are very friendly and very accommodating. No matter who is working behind the bar you always get good conversation coupled with a very sufficient choice of drinks, and a more than sufficient choice of gins!

Then, stumbling back to the hotel in the late hours of the night, after maybe one too many, Kevin (the night-watchmen) is there to serve you a nightcap (or two) before its time to make haste to sleepy land.

I, myself, have not eaten in the restaurant, however a few of my colleagues have done.
They all agree that it is of a mouth-wateringly high standard.

All in all, it is of a very high quality, at a reasonable price and we will definitely be staying here in the future.

Stayed with friends for a night and booked a meal in the restaurant. Rooms very good staff helpful,
meal excellent. One of the best meals we've had any where for the price. Don't understand some of the previous reviewers comments as we had a great experience.

We called in one lunchtime a few weeks ago en route to the Crab and Lobster at Asenby and noted the makeover it had had since our last visit a couple of years back. We were intrigued by the Hollywood decor (all purple and silver) and on checking the menu we thought - must try this out!
So we booked a room midweek and arrived on a sunny afternoon for wine and nibbles on the terrace. It's just across from the canal and river if alternatively you fancy a walk.
Our room was smallish but well appointed if a a bit warm, due to sun streaming through the window all day before we arrived.
We tackled a couple for the gins the place noted for as aperitifs. Mine was a Yorkshire made offering - Masons - and had a hint of chocolate about it - very nice.
The restaurant once again has an opulent silver and purple theme - a bit OTT for some but we liked it. The menu was reasonably varied without being huge and we thoroughly enjoyed our starters of crab and duck from the a la carte menu. I had the beef dish to follow whilst my husband chose the chicken. Both were nicely presented, well cooked and tasted delicious. We shared a very pretty and varied assiette of puddings to follow and were well and happily filled by then. The wine prices are not cheap but we had decided to make an event of it as our wedding anniversary comes up in a couple of weeks, and we had a great stay all round. Well recommended.

Room Tip: Room one is smallish but dual aspect and well appointed. Make sure it's been fully shaded (blind...
