Nice friendly staff in the main, although some members of the bar staff seemed to be a bit aloof when they spoke to you !
Hotel itself is a bit tired to be honest, but food was wholesome and a good selection at breakfast, had only one evening meal there, and it did the job would assume there are different staff from the morning team !
Good secure parking and lastly the WI FI needs sorting out, it may be free but if you are not aware that you need the code for EACH of your devices, and your partner cannot get online but you can it can become a bit tense!! Could be sorted out at the reception when you first arrive and explained what you need to do ...........
Would have no problem returning to this hotel.........

Room Tip: There are a few ground floor rooms ! I always wear ear plugs when I travel, as you are next to a h...

This hotel offers value for money and the facilities and staff are good. Check in was slightly disappointing. I had stated on the reservation that I would be checking out at 6 am and was then told at check-in the breakfast times, which were irrelevant. It also took around five minutes for the duty manager to check us in as he was busy in the restaurant. Perhaps a pager attached to the reception buzzer would be a good idea. I would return to the hotel and possibly stay the weekend to take advantage of the leisure facilities, which are clearly good. The hotel is well presented and furnished. The lack of quality broadsheet newspapers was disappointing. Local newspapers were available. The hotel offers spacious lounge and dining areas and reasonably prices cuisine.

17th Century coaching house in a small market town and fits in perfectly. Obviously a dated building and fitted to match, comfortable and homely. If you want chic and modern this definitely is not for you, with dated rooms and public areas but it fits with the hotel like a well worn pair of favourite slippers.
Secure, gated large car park and pool and leisure facilities add to the experience.
The breakfasts were good value, with good supplies of the standard fare, well cooked and presented complimented with pleasant service.
The staff in general were excellent, friendly and welcoming and nothing too much trouble.
The restaurant meal was ok, but probably not much above that. The steak and chicken dishes were good, not exceptional, and my lasagne was disappointing, dry, tough and over done.
Overall it was worth the visit and offers reasonable value for money without the hassles and prices of the bigger cities.

We stayed with our two boys aged 8 for two nights on a B&B basis and found that the room and beds were comfortable, clean and highly practical for us, particularly with the size of the room and the bunk beds for the boys.

The service at the reception when booking in and out was helpful, friendly and efficient. The reception area gave a good impression of the hotel and looked very busy with the local business community.

We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and the food was freshly prepared and cooked which meant that whilst it took longer, it was certainly of good quality. Breakfasts were also well presented with an excellent choice and cooked well.

The Fitness Centre facilities and pool were well cared for, however, our major gripe is with the pool times allowing Children to swim, which were incompatible with the times you would arrive back from being out for the day, and just needed time to wind down with the kids in the pool as well as the times in the morning when you were going out. This limited availability was not mentioned at any time whilst booking.
I guess this will not change as the times are to enable members to have uninterrupted time in the pool and spa area and so my advice is, if the pool is important and you have kids, you might wish to look at other hotels.

We booked for 3 nights from 25/4/14 and enjoyed it so much stayed a further night. The hotel is well placed in the small town centre. Very central for other attractions - we went to ripon races, visited Harrogate and knaresborough all within 10 miles. We had an executive room and whilst it was on the small size, was very comfortable. the view over the flat roof wasn't great but didn't come here to stare out of the window! The public areas are very pretty and comfortable. Happy hour in the bar from 5-7 which made prices more reasonable. Usual prices high as all hotel bars. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice. Staff are excellent. Friendly and nothing too much trouble. The spa is lovely. Good sized pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Good changing facilities. Everything very clean. Gym was good size and didn't seem to be over busy.
Top tip when parking - avoid the trees on right hand side as you enter car park. They are home to many very large birds who make very large deposits, along with twigs and other rubbish! A trip to morrisons car wash was required to put a smile back on the other halfs face, along with specialised bird poo remover for those harder to remove splats!
Boroughbridge is a beautiful town, full of history. The locals are so friendly, especially the Black Bull patrons who made our holiday with their banter. We will definitely return
