“Lovely!”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

Our stay at Quiet Mountain was really lovely. The gardens are spectacular! The staff were all extremely kind and accommodating. The food was outstanding and fresh. Overall a fantastic, relaxing getaway only 40 min from PTA/JHB.

I cannot fault this place, but luckily for those in the know, it is quite hard to find. It is small and so hard to secure a booking, and yet that permits a quality of personal service which is quite heart warming to find. It is essential to have your own transport, particularly as the nearby Pilanesberg National Park has to be visited. I have traveled extensively across the world and yet I would rate this place as exceptional in quality of food and accommodation. It struggles with some tech facilities but I happily forgo those for the peace and tranquility this place offers

Very special place just outside Johannesburg. Amazingly genuine feeling with beautiful antiques and decor. John makes an incredible host. The food is beyond gourmet with each of the 4 courses more delicious than the night before!!

I can only agree with all the other reviewers. This is a perfect getaway from the bustle of Joburg. The rooms are beautiful and tastefully decorated and furnished, the gardens look loved and nurtured, the food is superb, and the welcome we received was warm and sincere. This is such a treasure I thought twice about posting a review - it's a place you want to keep a secret! A haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. We will return - many times, I hope.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the suites with a lounge and bedroom - more private and with fireplace for wintr...

En route from Botswana to Joburg and back to London. 90 minutes from O R Tambo Int Airport this is an idyllic place to start or end a South African trip ( or of course a weekend retreat for RSA residents). The cabins are more like apartments, beautifully furnished and the grounds are magnificently kept with fountains and features everywhere. The evening meal was as good as I have eaten anywhere. To work off that food there is a 8k walk up the Quiet Mountain- hard work both ways , but the view makes it all worthwhile - stunning.
2 things not perfect - the magnificent swimming pool replete with lion fountain was icy cold at end of May (but it is winter after all)- and the second thing? I was on my own and this is a place to be shared with your partner. Definitely 6 stars out of a possible 5!

Just under an hour from Johannesburg lies a little slice of heaven. Quiet Mountain, truly, is the perfect weekend getaway. The accommodation is elegantly comfortable, the food superb, and the hosts congenial. Outstanding service from the moment we got here. Will certainly spend more weekends here. It is deserving of 6 stars ( sadly the maximin is 5).

Quiet Mountain is an oasis of calm and tranquility in the foothills of Mageliesberg which is about an hours drive from Johannesburg. With a bit of luck you wont be able to find it so it will remain a haven for me and my friends when we holiday in South Africa. Owned and run by two engaging men it is more of a country house than a hotel, with beautiful gardens and lovely staff. We have just returned from our third visit and it retains its charm and atmosphere.
