“Treated like a prostitute”
Reviewed 14 December 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 8 days. It is a lovely hotel, it was clean and most of the staffs were friendly towards me (they don't seem to treat Asian female with as much respect as they do the Euro-male). It was all fine until day 3. As part of our stay we were allowed access to a breakfast every morning. On the 3rd morning, my partner and I came down to get some breakfast. The waitress who served us every morning (never acknowledge me before) told my partner that I was taken in from the street therefore he has to pay for my breakfast.
Needless to say I was very upset and demand the manager. The waitress decided to lie to the manager about what she said but there were other guess that backed me up. I have never felt so humiliated. Apart from this, the wifi was super expensive and not all that fast.
For such a high class hotel, they should have trained their staffs better. I had better service at a 2 star hotel.

Great hotel that looks after everyone well. Beautiful natural gardens. Big and comfortable rooms especially if you book the Lagoon view family deluxe rooms which can take 2 double beds in each room. Lovely buffet breakfast. Kids were happy with pool. Also the kids club which kept them busy for an hour while adults took a much needed nap! Had a wonderful massage at the spa - ask for Nid, she's 1 of the best masseuse I ever had. Friendly and helpful staff everywhere, from Supaporn our reservations manager to Rai our driver. Located 5mins walk to Karon beach which is a lovely beach with soft white sand. Lots of shops & restaurants outside the hotel . Only problem are the mosquitoes but using insect repellent helps. Would probably stay here again next time we're in Phuket.

If you're going to Phuket to go to Patong beach, stay in Patong Beach. It's a 20 min ride and can get expensive if you wanted to go back and forth.

The hotel is incredible! has everything that you can want. It is, however, more family oriented than for the young single crowd. Lots of families, lots of kids!

If you have children, I would recomend it. If you're a single traveller, and want the night life, Karon beach is not for you.

Well what can I say, for a family who is just starting out on their overseas adventures we have already found a jewel! Centara Karon is fantastic. We arrived after a very long flight with a young child who had travel sickness all the way from Singapore and on arrival the staff just made us feel like family and this continued for our enitre stay. The resort is like a sanctuary it had everything you needed as well as the friendliest and most helpful staff who would point you in the right direction every time and they were fantastic with the kids. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable ( and both myself and husband are not good sleepers ) the breakfast every morning was awsome, it was close to everything you wanted to see and if you needed to go further just ask at the information desk and they arranged everything for you and for a good price. There are some fantastic restaurants around Centara Karon as well, The Red Onion you can not got past this place it doesn't look much from the outside however the food was outstanding. Another favorite was Bamboo the decor was beautiful and the food was sensational and also great prices. The hardest thing for us was getting the kids out of the pool to go and explore what Phuket had to offer. Like I said before I can't wait to go back and we will definately be staying back at Centara Karon.

It's a very very nice hotel. Quite even in the heart of city, near the bach and the best part is food.
Yumm sea food and the entrance to restaurant is it self beautiful. One small shop of traditional thing is there. but bit expensive. Staff is very friendly. market is at stone throwing distance and nearby also nice restaurant you will find easly. We sent 2 Nights here; this hotel is dived in two. One big building and other side resort type double story. we were there in resort, but major staff is in big building. staff are very friendly and happy to help.

This was my very first trip out of Australia so to say the least I was apprehensive from the start. On arrival after our flight was delayed from Perth we were welcomed with a cool drink and our luggage was taken to our rooms. We walked into a Lagoon Room on the top floor overlooking the whole pool area was so pretty. The room was well appointed very clean had 2 showers and a bath. I cant wait to book to return next year even after 1 week we asked to go to a ground floor room due to my own health issues using the stairs and it wasnt a problem. The people at the resort are all friendly and accomodating. There were many activities if you wished to participate 3 pools what more could you want?

I stayed at this hotel last year with my husband. We came for 2 weeks on the 'All Inclusive' deal and stayed in a Cabana room.

Room:
The room was lovely, quite dark as the front private garden had a lot of greenery growing over the wooden pergola. You enter the room into the front garden by means of a gate. One in the front garden you can lock the gate for extra privacy. You enter the room itself through glass doors which lead staight into the bedroom. The bedroom was great - huge (rather firm) bed, large flatscreen tv, mini bar etc.
From the bedroom there is a door and step doen into the large bathroom. The bathroom houses the wardrobe, safe, complimentary beach towels, umbrellas, bathrobes etc. There were excellent toileteries too and an indoor shower with a large window facing onto the back garden where the massive jacuzzi was.
The Jacuzzi was great - it was big enough to float in. There is also an outdoor shower and small garden here too.
Between 6 and 7 we had canapes and cocktails delivered to us every night as part of the Cabana room package.

Hotel:
The reception was good, staff helpful and always smiling.
There were 2 bars - one outside (terrace grill bar) with live music and one inside near reception (the Mix) which was beautifully decorated and had a large screen if you wanted to watch sport etc. There are also 3 pool bars and bars at the other restaurants too.
There are 3 sections to the hotel. The main tower (high rise), the cabana's - near to the tower and then other hotel rooms grouped near to the other other pools.

Pools:
There are 3 pools. They were all large, warm and all had a swim-up bar. The Tower pool (terraces I think it is known as) seemed to be the quietest. The pool at the bottom of the hill near to the restaurant (Lagoon I believe it is called) appealed more to the families with younger kids. There were pool games etc here. The Tropicale pool (above the lagoon one) was more couples and familes with older kids. The Tropicale pool also has the club room that you are entitled to use if you are staying in htese rooms - they have free snacks etc here.

Food and Drinks
I cannot fault the food for an all inclusive deal. The breakfasts were buffet and excellent quality. Lunch a la carte at the restaurant by the lagoon and the dinner in the main restaurant where you could chose to have the buffet option or a la carte. A typical lunch could be 'boozy calamari' or 'seafood cocktail' or 'bruschetta' as a starter followed by pizza, burgers, huge tropical salads, club sandwiches etc. Dinner was fab - the thai curries were excellent. The buffet (especially on a theme night was excellent and included langoustine, huge prawns, Steaks, chicken etc. The a la carte menu was the best though - fillet steak, Monkfish, curries etc. All superb quality.
The all inclusive package gave us free drinks from 10am till 10pm. This included all drinks at all bars: cocktails, soft drinks, beer (chang and singa), wine by the glass, spirits etc. We really enjoyed it and it was exceptional quality for an all inclusive.

Staff
The staff were a little hit and miss. Staff at the Mix bar and the Lagoon restaurant where we had breakfast and lunch were great (although sometimes not so smiley as other staff). We found the staff at the Lotus (main) restaurant to be friendly, but disorganised with drink orders and clearing tables, some seeming to wander around doing nothing whilst there are lots of tables needing clearing. It is a minor point, but one that we felt let the hotel down a little.

Beach
As we were inThailand at the end of the rainy season, we had a fair bit of rain. We didn't spend a great deal of time at the beacj, but did walk the length of it to Kata several times - a lovely walk. The hotel is not on the beach (I didn't expect it to be as I did some research on the hotel before we left, but there are others on here that seem to expect that the hotel is on the beach itself). the beach is not a long walk away though and is pleasant when you get there (don't expect pure white sand - it reminded me more of the beach at Hua Hin than anywhere)

Karon and Kata
The Irish bar opposite the hotel is great -- especially when they have live music from Colin Illy and his band. There are loads of places to eat and drink around Karon - get out and explore as it is a nice town. We also liked Kata a lot too. We were out of season really so nowhere was busy so we were always given great service whereever we went.
We got a tuk-tuk several times to Patong as we like the nightlife and had stayed here before.

All in all, we had a lovely time. I would recommend the hotel, especially if you can get the All Inclusive package (they don't do it all year round - it was out of season when we went). The Cabana room was lovely.
