“Beautiful but secluded!”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

The resort is absolutely beautiful and would be the ultimate getaway if you're looking for some peace and quiet. Only downsides to it is that we stayed during off peak season, which meant that only one restaurant was operating, which seemed rather disappointing since there were no close-by restaurants outside the resort. Besides that, the resort is also a 35 minute drive from Patong beach, where most of the fun and action is so if that's what you're looking for and you still want to stay at the Westin, you're better off renting a car rather than forking out tons of money on taxi fare.

Food is great, lovely breakfast spread and beautiful pools, staffs are friendly and attentive. Rooms are clean and nice with a beautiful view! Do note to check on the weather forecast before coming, as you may be disappointed with the heavy rain. The spa is also having 50% off all packages due to off peak season, so enjoy that if you plan on visiting.

All in all, great resort and enjoyed my stay! :)

If you're looking for a place far away from the vibrant Patong beach area... then this is the place. The rooms are built on a hillside facing the sea... beautiful. The staffs are friendly too.
Just be prepared that it is quite a distance to all the famous beaches ... i.e. Patong, Karon, Kata, etc, etc.
So, for you lovebirds and honeymooners... then this is the place. And for you guys looking for the wild side of Patong... then this is not the place for you... hehe

The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are huge and the pools are spectacular. We had a great time at the hotel and having dinner while watching the sunset was really awesome. Very clean hotel and the service was great. All and all I would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a nice place that you want to spend a good amount of time at (rather than exploring the local area)

There are only two negatives I would point out. The first might be a positive depending on what type of trip you're looking for, but the hotel is pretty isolated. So it's not really possible to walk somewhere close for a cheaper meal or a quick trip to the store...so you need to take cabs or the shuttle the hotel provides (at specific times). The other negative was that internet was not free in the room (it was in common areas). Given the quality of the resort and the fact that there seemed to be free WiFi at virtually EVERY establishment not on the side of the road in Thailand I was pretty shocked by this.

Room Tip: If you plan to eat breakfast at the hotel get it included as part of your room rate otherwise the bu...

We we very warmly welcome by the lady at the front desk. She took time to explain to us the hotel and its facilities.

Our room was situated at the highest peak of the hotel. This mean a 10 minute walk up the hill every time we go back to our room. Luckily they provide buggy service, but most of the time we prefer to walk.

We enjoyed our stay very much in this hotel. The main tourist areas are miles away, which mean to either have to take the taxi (very expensive in Phuket) or you rent a car and drive around (that's what we did). There is a tour desk in front of the reception where you can rent your car and book your trips.

The hotel seems to draw a lot of tour groups from China and Korea. In the morning the restaurant area can be quite overwhelming with the tour groups all having breakfast at the same time.

Stayed here for 3 nights.

It is a decent resort, we got a deal when we booked, so managed to get pretty good value for our money.

It is appropriately 10-15 mins away from phuket town to the east on a mountain. Taxi to and from phuket town was reasonable in price and the hotel provides shuttles to and from the town.

The views here are really good, with a very good command of sirey bay and beyond.

The beach was okay looking, the best thing about it was that it was nice and quiet, with a reasonable range of water sports on offer, exactly what I wanted.

Food was pricey and of an average standard for thailand, much tastier food can be had in phuket town centre. Breakfast was good, there was a wide selections of food on offer.

All in all, we had a decent stay here, and enjoyed our time.

It's a huge resort far away from everything. The staff is super nice. The rooms clean and spacious. The food at the terrace restaurant is very average. The Thai specialities are really nothing special (a bit disappointing I'd rather say). The chocolate ice cream really yummy!
The beach is very sad. Pretty ugly I'd say. If you're planning a trip in Phuket in general I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Being a platinum with Marriott, I was actually looking forward to trying something other than a Marriott property.

Where to start. We were greeted with a welcome drink and refreshing towel which was nice. When checking in we were able to upgrade our room to the pool suite. This was a nice treat, however, I'm still a bit upset that since we paid for an upgrade they didn't wave the extra person charge for us as my mother was traveling with us. I get the fact that they are there to make money, but when someone wants to upgrade and actually pays for it, do you really want to charge them more for the "extra person". The jury is still out on that one.

The property is all up hill. So, if you are disabled or it's hard for you to walk, you will need to take the golf cart. We really didn't have any issues having to wait for them, as 99% of the time they were there to help.

I won't lie, the upgraded room was very nice. The private pool served perfectly for my mother as she could swim when she wanted.

I'm a bit disappointed with the staff in general. The front desk staff was good, however, the breakfast staff, it seemed that they didn't even want to be there. Non-engaging, indifferent.

Now, I want to let you in on the big "tour" secret that we learned. We had picked up some brochures at the airport on boat tours and more. We called the tour company direct to book. No problem, booked at $70us per person. Great, see you at 8am. Well 8am came and went. No tour pick up. We ask at the front desk and come to find out, they had cancelled our tour, BECAUSE, the "Rate" was only given to groups of 50 or more. Really?!?! 50 or more?!?! The tour desk at the hotel told us that the boat tour should have never booked us that tour for us at that rate. That it should have been booked through the hotel, DIRECTLY. THIS is where the chips started to fall together. Why would we have to book the tour through the hotel? OH, that's right, because the hotel wants a cut of the money. The tour desk could get us out that same day for the "hotel" price of an additional $30 for a total of $100us. Basically, the hotel and tour company have their hands in each others pockets. The hotel books the tours, takes a cut and passes the rest on to the tour company. BUT, if you are staying at the Westin you can ONLY book the tour through the hotel, if you book it yourself, be ready to fork over $30 more dollars.

We were apologized to over and over and promised a "sorry basket of flowers" which never came. Whatever, I guess. Just be aware, if you plan on doing any tours it's gonna cost you extra. Our advice, go into town and book there. The hotel won't get their cut then.

On another note, the mosquitoes were awful!

Would I stay here again?? Probably not. Get me back to a Marriott property, STAT!
