We visited this on a trip to Phuket Town and it provided an interesting introduction to the history of the town and of the tin-mining industry there.

The house is from the outside one of the more beautiful houses in Phuket Center. Used to be a school, and now a museum describing the chinese history in Phuket. That history is interesting but easier to understand by reading books about it.
The museum has really no major attractions inside, and since the fee for entrance is 200 Baht (high after Thai satndard for what you get here!) these are better saved for a cup of coffee and a book about Phuket long history for chineses and portugeses. I was really not impressed by the museum.
There is a small cafe in the museum.

Please go and spend some time at this place. It was so interesting. It costs 200THB and so worth it.

This is a very nice museum, with understandable, if not perfect, English translations on the displays. The museum provides a great deal of information on the Chinese immigrants that arrived in Phuket for tin mining and the opium trade, plus history on the town's beautiful old buildings.

I remember thinking the entrance fee was a little overpriced but I can't actually remember what I paid. That aside, the museum is a good place for anyone interested in learning about the local Chinese diaspora and it won't take long to see all of the exhibits - maybe an hour at the most. Combine a visit with a visit to Old Town in general, lunch at the Kopitiam by Wilai down the street (some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten), a visit to Chinpracha House plus the old Governor's Mansion that's now the Blue Elephant (down the street) and a trek to the top of nearby Rang Hill for a view of the city. After that, you have pretty much seen Phuket Town...
