Summer Breeze Inn Hotel
Ranked #15 of 93 Hotels in Phuket Town
Reviewed 19 February 2012

LOCATION -This 5 room B & B is quite unique. It is situated in a middle-class, Thai residential area in Phuket Town. It is about 40 min. from Phuket Intnl. Airport and, I believe, about 15 - 20 min. from the ferries to Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta. The largest Dept. Store on the island, Robinsons, which is in the heart of Puket Town, is about 15 min. drive away. The Bus Station is about 15 min. away. The neighbourhood is very quiet and conducive to a good night's sleep. For a foreigner like me from Canada it was fascinating to be able to observe first-hand the daily life in action of the friendly neighbours. If guests don't have their own transportation they may feel a bit stranded unless they are good walkers or are prepared to pay for taxis. Manit, the owner, will sometimes give you a ride on his motorbike or in his car if his schedule permits. To get to the local business area where taxi's, motorbike taxis and songtaew services are readily available takes about 15 - 20 min. walking. The cheapest and most fun way to get to the centre of Phuket Town from the Summer Breeze is to walk to the round-a-bout where the Tesco Mini Store is located (15 min. fast walking) and then catch the songtaew (PINK in color) from there for the 10 THB, 20 min. trip to the Robinson's Dept. Store.
RESTAURANTS - There are a couple of Thai restaurants located about an 8 - 10 min. walk from the B & B. The first one you come to, right at the foot of the hill, is quite good and prices are reasonable. It is located on an arm of the sea and they catch some of their fish right there. If you walk about 15 min. further towards town you will come to the main commercial area and there are numerous small restaurants there to choose from. If you are wishing more up-scale dining it will be necessary to go into downtown Phuket Town. Even then, there isn't a great selection of classier dining spots. Best selection of these would be found in or around 4/5* hotels on the west coast or on the SE coast in the Chalong/ Rawai area.
ACCOMODATION - The Summer Breeze Inn is a most comfortable place to spend a few days if you are in transit somewhere else, either by bus or ferry, or if you are wishing to explore the interesting, historical townsite of Phuket Town. The 5 rooms, 2 on main and 3 up, are all clean and well-equipped w/ ensuite, tv, free WIFI, comfortable beds, 2 free daily waters and fridge. Rooms are decorated in a nautical theme and have a homey feeling. 2 of the 3 upper floor rooms face the street with a balcony that runs across the front of the building that affords a nice view of the street life below. Travelling as a single, the room called 'The Sails', which is one of these 2 front-facing rooms, is my choice. I have now stayed at the Summer Breeze on 2 separate trips and I have looked in all 5 rooms.
BREAKFAST - Breakfast, which is included in the room rate, is served on the main floor by reception with 3 tables inside and 1 outside. Menu is set as follows; juice, coffee/tea, yogurt and 2 slices of toast w/ butter & jam.
INTERNET - Free WIFI is available throughout the place with a sharing computer located by the reception desk.
SERVICE - I've saved the best for last. Manit, the owner, along with the 'behind-the -scenes' help from his wife, offer an extraordinary, friendly level of personal service that makes guests feel like they are farmily members. Manit is a walking encyclopedia of information and advice and he does everything humanly possible to make your stay pleasant and memorable. He spent 2 years at university in Britain and his English is excellent. I have travelled to 25 countries world-wide and I've stayed in hundreds of hotels from 1 - 5 stars and, in terms of customer service savvy, this guy doesn't miss a beat. Noone could ever leave this small abode without a warm and fuzzy feeling.
MISC. - There is a tiny convenience store located about 3 min. walk from the front door that carries all the 'necessities of life'.

Room Tip: - The 2 street-facing rooms on the 2nd floor offer a nice vantage point to view neighbourhood life o...

We stopped here for one night on our way through phuket to Phi Phi, set in a village it is a unique experience that shows the more traditional side to Phuket. There is a restaurant not far from the hotel but the owner, Manit kindly dropped us in the old town where we were able to go around at our leisure and had a selection of places to eat. On our way we were shown some of the local sights and it is clear Manit is not only extremely knowledgeable but also very helpful!

Manit arranged our ferry to Phi Phi and the minibus picked us up from right outside the hotel.
The rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable, ideal for a short stay. We stayed in the lovely Boogie board themed room on the first floor.

Manit definately went the extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyed. My partner left his glasses at the hotel and Manit was outstanding, he packaged them up and managed to get them across to Koh Ngai just before we were due to leave. This took a lot of organising with the ferry companies, speed boat and hotel! A true star!!!

I would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone who was thinking of visiting phuket and I shall definately be returning.

We had an enjoyable stay at Manit's hotel, the Summer Breeze Inn. Manit had a driver waiting for us upon arrival of our delayed flight, which arrived well past midnight from Chiang Mai.

When we arrived, Manit was waiting up for us and gave us a very warm welcome. We were only there a very short time, arriving at 1am and departing in the morning at 8am for the ferry- which Manit helped secure the tickets and ferry shuttle.

We had the Scuba room, which was just fine for our short stay. We'd definitely stay at Manit's hotel again. Thanks, Manit, for the wonderful service!

From the outset the host Manit was very friendly and quick to respond to emails. Like many other reviewers, we arrived on a late flight in the evening and were leaving to go to Ko Lanta the next morning. We were met by a driver at the airport and taken to the guesthouse where we were met by the friendly and ever-smiling Manit. He told us about the ferry he'd booked for us the next morning, what time to be up for breakfast etc and showed us to our room. We stayed in Boogey Board which was upstairs, a nice size with a big comfy bed.
On the landing of the upstairs rooms there's a tuck-shop type place, with cold soft drinks and beers, snacks and even toothpaste in case you forget yours! After putting some money in the honesty box it was nice to have a cold drink on the balcony outside our room. Manit came and had a beer with us and chatted to us for a while about England and his time there.
The next morning Manit was waiting for us in the lobby with our breakfast, which was simple but all we really needed. The shuttle for the ferry was quite late but we made it to the ferry (note this is nothing to do with Manit, he did call to see where they were but it's run by the ferry company).
All in all it was a very good place to stay, and sooo much cheaper than anywhere decent you'll find on the islands. Manit is kind and friendly and the location of the hotel is very convenient for what most travellers seem to use it for - a crash pad between the airport and the ferry. It's also nice to be in suburban Phuket, where there aren't any English signposts!

Room Tip: The stairs are quite steep, so ask for a ground floor room if you think it may be a problem. Boogey...

My husband and I spent a night here before moving onto Koh Phi Phi (Dec 2011). We arrived late into Phuket airport and had transportaion waiting to take us to the hotel. When we arrived we were met by Manit who helped us with our bags and gave us our room key as well as the keys to the front door. Our room was great! Manit was also kind enough to make our ferry reservations and drove us to it.
Summer Breeze Inn Hotel provided us with the very best service we had in 3 wks in Thailand!

Room Tip: Sails room is clean comfortable and a great balcony!

My wife and I stayed at the Summer Breeze Inn twice during the winter of 2011-12 and were very grateful for the helpful reviews that steered us there. We had a late night arrival at Phuket airport and an early ferry the next morning to Koh Lanta, so we needed a good night's rest somewhere reasonably convenient to the ferry terminal. This place was perfect for our needs. We were met at the airport by the hotel's driver - a real treat after a long flight. The room was clean, cheerily decorated, and wonderfully quiet. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept like logs until our requested knock on the door got us up in time to shower and have a nice simple breakfast, which was included in the price. We hired the same driver to take us to the ferry the next morning, as some reviewers had mentioned that the tiny inn was hard to find.

The host (Manit) was very quick to respond to emails we'd sent before our stay, and it was a delight to meet him in person.

The only caveat I can think of is that the stairs leading up to the second floor rooms are very steep, and could be a problem for anyone who was at all mobility impaired. However, there is at least one guest room available on the main floor.

All in all, this was a great spot to get a good night's sleep, and the service was very thorough and friendly.

Room Tip: The inn's website has pictures and descriptions of each room.

Though almost 4 kms away from main city, Summer Breeze Inn is one of the best hotels you can find for your value of money. Calm and quiet place. Rooms are good, though not exceptional. Provided a homely atmosphere for me and my friends. We had a car rented from Bangkok and I believe it was perfect and we didn't waste any money on travel in Phuket (hiring a taxi is very expensive in Phuket).

My group enjoyed the trip very much. Personally, I would like to stay in this hotel in future.
