“One of the best mountain view in Thailand. ”

Doi Luang Chiang Dao
Reviewed 26 April 2017 via mobile

Doi Luang Chiang Dao has opening season is between November to March every year.

You can also contact nation park by your self or you could use any agency which are provide you food and sleep.

One day trip is ok.
Two days one night is also a good timing.
But some people make it a three days two nights.

It's a great place to watch birds and butterfly.

Chiang dao is about an hour drive from Chiang mai.

Nice weather the whole day so it's good for your walking.
in night time, it's quite cold. but I can say that the nature still real.

If you love camping and hiking with unique species, Doi Luang Chiang Dao will be a good option. For everyone who visit this place in first time, I will suggest 3 things. First of all, reservation is required. They limit number of tourist in the conservation area.

Second you need 4x4 pick up truck. He will drop you at start point on foot. I do recommend to use local pick up service because they have more experience on the way and those cars already got permission to get in to the conservation area. 1 round ~ 2:30 hrs.
1800฿/car Maximum 8 people. My group has only4

Third the carry man. They are very useful. 1 carry man can bring 20kg. of your stuff to the camp. He will help you set up the tent. If you and he has good relation he might choose really nice place for the tent with nice view and peace.
The last one he can be your local guide.

About how many days you need hare. People usually spend 3days 2night. Actually 2 days 1 night is possible but you might be exhausted. If the weather is cloudy you will not have a chance to see sun rise there. Worst option for me is one day trip. Walk to the top and down in the same day. It's sound like incredible but I saw a couple did it.

This place is wild life conservation area and here's the tips if you want to see some of them.
"Do not close th the big group" noisy will make them away. I saw the gorals on the cliff when my friends and I walk on the way around 2pm. other will take a rest at that time. Hope you enjoy your camping. If you need more info feel free to ask :)

Don´t forget to pay the entrance at wildlife sanctuary office before you wanna go to hike this mountain. Do it one day before or go at 8 in the morning. Possible to overnight up near the summit or go up and down in one day. You sholud come back arround 4pm if you start morning. Take a guide is a must even if you easily find a way. Stunning view, very nice hiking, quite enought up and down in one day.

A +- 4 hour hike up the mountain gives you a great view on the surrounding valleys. You need a guide to hike up the mountain and you can sleep overnight at the mountain top so you can have nice views of the sunset and sunrise. We did it in 1 day (up + down and it is doable in 7 to 8 hours, including some stops).
