We have just returned from Hope Cottage with our dog Betsy. This was our first holiday away together and it was wonderful. Sarah made us feel very welcome in her cottage. Thanks for tea and biscuits on arrival. Very thoughtful touch. The
Cottage is beautiful. Full of charm and character and so very clean. Views are amazing. Sitting up stairs looking out of the large window with a coffee or glass of wine , perfect. If it is walks you are after then there are plenty. We parked the car Monday and didn't get back in it until Friday to come home. Nice local pub at the top of the road, although they don't allow dogs in we were able to sit outside as weather was kind to us. Locals very friendly. We did walk to The Lamb Inn about half an hour walk away and had a lovely meal inside with our dog. Would definitely recommend Hope CottNge and the lovely France Lynch. We will be back. Thanks again Sarah for sharing your little bit of paradise. Roger Sally and Betsy.
This cottage is adorable, cosy, with bags of character. We have never had such a relaxing holiday, ever. Sitting in the upstairs lounge or the garden patio, you can gaze over Golden Valley, listen to the birds tweeting, and de-stress to your heart's content! Fantastic pub a minute's walk away, with others minutes away. The immediate area is a dog-walker's paradise. We have never returned to a holiday cottage for a second visit, but we have already discussed returning next year. Sarah is a wonderful host and provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. Seriously impressed!
Hope Cottage was a truly beautiful place to stay. The cottage had real character and was perfect for us and our dog. The courtyard outside was so pretty with wonderful views. It was very peaceful and serene. Sarah emailed regularly prior to our stay and although wasn't around (as on holiday herself), gave us the name and number of someone we could contact if needed. We felt very well looked after. The cottage was a great base for us to explore the Cotswolds. There was a really helpful folder in the kitchen and all queries were catered for. Tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits were there for our arrival. As a first-time visitor to the Cotswolds, I can happily say we loved our visit and plan to return next year. Thank you Sarah xx
We loved our time at Hope Cottage. It's a sweet and pretty cottage in a beautiful part of England. We recommend the short walk to the local pub for a Guinness, and the walks across the fields to Bisley (a picture-perfect Cotswolds village) and down the hill to Chalford. It's a great location for day trips to places like Stow, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham and Forest of Dean, which are all well worth visiting. A fabulous stay, thank you!
We had a lovely week at Hope Cottage with our young border collie and would thoroughly recommend. The Cottage is lovely inside, with two sitting areas - the lower with a stone fireplace and wood burner and the upper with a beautiful view over Golden Valley. The kitchen is really well fitted out and larger than it looks in the picture. However, the real highlight for us was the beautiful courtyard garden, again with fabulous views, where we sat out every evening except one wet one. There are good walks straight from the cottage (and others a short drive away - Sarah leaves a very helpful folder with lots of maps and walking routes) and if you've got kids or dogs there's an excellent park just five minutes walk away.
France Lynch/Chalford is a great base for the southern part of the Cotswolds. Highlights for us within a short drive were the lovely town of Cirencester (and its outstanding Corinium museum), Chedworth Roman Villa, Cheltenham (and specifically the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway which runs from the Racecourse), boat trips at Gloucester docks as well as the lovely Gloucester cathedral, Woodchester Park and lots of walks (including along the abandoned Severn Thames Canal, gradually being restored, which runs past Chalford - worth also going to the canal visitors centre in Stroud). There are lots of great places to eat nearby, including the King's Head two minutes walk away, and many other great Cotswolds pubs within a short drive, as is the highly recommended Winstones ice cream at Rodborough Common.
All in all, we had a great holiday, but staying at Hope Cottage for the week is what really made it for us. In fact the only downside was that there was so much to do, we could have done with an extra week to do all the relaxing in the cottage that we'd anticipated doing!
The location of Hope Cottage is just divine, perfect peace in the pretty courtyard garden and comfortably equipped throughout. We loved the first-floor sun room for late-night drinks and the unusual mezzanine level for daytime naps after attempting some of the wonderful local walks. Sarah kept in touch and we really felt cared for throughout our stay. The (very) local pub had great food and were very friendly, to both us and our dog! We really couldn't fault Hope Cottage as a holiday base and as a peaceful retreat from life, we shall be back!
Stayed here for a long weekend. The cottage is in the tiny village of France Lynch, but there are two pubs within walking distance ( one allows dogs)
The cottage is quite small but is very cosy, has everything you need and has been presented very well. It was immaculately clean with some really thoughtful touches, like slippers in the bedroom.
There are lovely walks straight from the door step. I would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and restful location to relax and unwind
