This is my second visit to Bantayan Island. I looked at several accommodations in Santa Fe on the internet but decided to stay at Kota Beach Resort. The room given to me was just right for the price, it is just a few steps away from the beach, the resort's Ding Dong Cafe, the "trisikads" right outside the gate if I needed transport to where I wanted to go (I rode in one just once!). The resort was peaceful - no noisy videokes or bars nearby, not too many guests during the four days and three nights I was there, it felt as if I owned the place! The resort is a just short walking distance to the "food strip" for cheap (well some were not!) and a wide variety of food to choose from.

On the whole, the resort is very nice. It is a peaceful and beautiful place. The staff was a bunch of wonderful, friendly and accomodating people. The food at the Cafe was excellent.

Given another chance to visit Bantayan Island, I would surely stay at Kota Beach Resort again. I would also highly recommend the place to my friends.

It was a hassle going to Bantayan with all the air, land and sea travel (i came from Manila), but once I saw the place, everything was worth it! It was peaceful with very few guests. It was like I am on my own private island. :)

We spent our month long vacation in Cebu hunting for all the white sand beaches we can set foot on. this location was highly anticipated. We stayed at Kota Beach because my sister in law had connections and managed to get us a reservation for a cheaper price. they picked us up from the port and took us back when we checked out which i think is very nice and convenient, they had a cute little van/jeep for transit. the Guy who picked us up was very nice although he looked quite intimidating he was very welcoming and chatted with us on the way to the resort. The resort looked like it had a variety of accommodations they can offer depending on your budget and needs.

The Room...
We ended up in a "cottage" like room with the wrap around porch.. we werent exactly "beach front" but we were like pretty close.. just behind 2 rows so it was still nice.
The room was not at all anything special but it was accommodating 2 queen size beds and a very strong air conditioning unit. the bathroom door had trouble closing but that didnt really matter much. The guy was nice enough to offer us extra towels although we brought our own. there was just 2 of us so the room definitely had more than enough space for both of us to run around. opening the door there is also a storage unit for your clothes and a couple of hangers along with a neat little vanity.
the only thing i can complain about the room is there this black dust/sand looking thing that kept showing up near the vanity and the bathroom ( i absolutely have no idea where this is coming from -_-) but other than that everything was fine.

The Beachfront / the actual beach..
the view itself s absolutely stunning.
the sand bar is an absolute plus.. ( we were recommended to stay on this beach because of the sandbar)
the beach before the sandbar though was a bit "dirty" by all means the water was absolutely lovely and crystal clear.. the sand was white and very nice but there was just a lot of accumulated ocean dirt underneath.. like those dusty dead weeds underneath.. im pretty sure this was just due of the fact that we came in a very stormy windy season which is always cause for all the dirt being washed ashore.. but still it was a bit of a bummer.
Now if you go to the water AFTER the sandbar... its just beautiful. crystal clear.. none of the nasty ocean dirt underneath.. just sand and corally peebles..
At night the beach is absolutely pitch black which makes it absolutely perfect to look up and watch the stars.. it is magical. go to the sandbar at night and just sit there... it was definitely an experience i will never forget.. to see that much stars. absolutely perfect.
Ive heard the sunset/sunrise scene in this particular beach is best in Bantayan but as we came in a very unstable weather season... there was barely any sun at all.. but still the view on its own is already stunning enough.
There was however a bunch of black jelly fishes that popped up... ( apparently they are very itchy according to the local kids playing around the area so its best to stay away if you spot one.)

The Restaurant...
Food was great. service was nice.. but they were pretty slow. but it all kind of just got ignored because the restaurant was also the only place that had wifi on the whole beach resort.. so we just used our time efficiently.
the price of the food was moderately higher than regular prices but hey its a resort.. thats expected.

All in all it was a fun 3 day 2 nights stay. we definitely enjoyed the island and wished we couldve stayed even longer. the second day we rented bikes and biked around the island to explore.. the resort is at walking distance to all the food restaurants and the little market so it is quite convenient. dont fall for the local hustlers that bug you to rent a "trisikad" or "habalhabal" and charge you all your money for it.. just walk. explore its nice. ^_^

Room Tip: Dont fall for locals constantly following you selling their "services" sadly most of them...

Traveled with five other friends. Four of us stayed in an airconditioned cottage. Inside are twin beds, which can sleep two each if you have no problems with that, and one mattress on the floor. The ensuite was quite clean, though not spotless.

The cottage has a veranda which has a living set. Your view? The best shoreline in all of Visayas (better than Boracay, in my opinion). The perfect venue for conversation and a couple of beers.

The resort will pick you up from the port. Checking in is a breeze. You can ask the staff almost anything about Bantayan -- what other options there are for lunch, island hopping tours, bike rental. They have helpful answers to those questions.

The resort is within walking distance to restaurants, a church and local convenience stores. Ideal location for anything you need and want to do. Bike rental is PHP 150 good for 24 hours. You can bike around Sta. Fe (the baranggay where the beach is) or walk if you wish. Exploring the locale is fun and relaxing to do with either. We parked our bikes in front of the cottage. Very safe and secure :)

Kota Beach Resort is just one reason why our trip to Bantayan Island is the best vacation we've ever had. Their staff made us feel welcome! Don't hesitate in choosing this hotel to be your home in this beautiful paradise.

Room Tip: Choose a beachfront cottage. And by the way, there's no TV in the rooms, but you don't need...

We were looking forward to a weekend at Bantayan. The kids counted the days like they were counting stars. Everything was planned, from the swim wear to the food joints to the mojitos and margaritas. We prepared so much for this long overdue vacation. But little did we know that only Kota Beach would rob us of the joy and excitement that we so rightly deserve.

The receptionist is as cold as ice. Her demeanor adds up to the scorching heat inside the reception area. Kota Beach needs to do job movement. For God' sake, find a receptionist who knows the job. We stayed at the Amihan room. If not for the sight of the not-so-powdery white sand and the beach, one would think we were in a ward of a public hospital. The knob of the bathroom door is broken. By modern standards, bathrooms should have a soap holder. Not sure with the other rooms but ours didn't have one so we were in a dilemma where to put our soap and shampoo. Even if we found a slim stand, it would still be useless. Nothing else fits in the bathroom except the pail and the bather. But my brother-in-law had to transfer to a pension house because he wouldn't fit in.

The restaurant menu shows a wide array of food choices. But less than half of them was available. Save for the spectacular view of the sunrise and the nice beachfront, Kota Beach is very disappointing. The staff and the kind of service that they have make our stay at Kota Beach a nightmare. It is one of the nightmares that I will never forget. When I go back to Bantayan, I will never set foot on Kota Beach. But I will always remember its staff who made me realize the importance and value of customer service.

We chose Kota Beach because the owner is a friend of my cousin yet our stay is unimaginable. We got an unfriendly & non service oriented customer service. The receptionist is rude. They even wont extend extra mileage by even allowing us to store our marketed products. They charged BIG time.

The rooms we got was like a ward room of a public hospital. Its their AMIHAN rooms. The aircon sucks, the CR would remind you of a horror movie--- door handle broken, bathroom lights flickered on & off, and whats worst, my cousin couldn't fit (literally) inside the cubicle. They didn't provide towels & basic toiletries (soap, shampoo).

The beachfront rooms are ok but that would compensate the view you can get from the balcony.

The penthouse room got a funtastic view but the aircon sucks. It couldn't compensate the heat.

The restaurant has a nice view but the food choices is limited & the service is snail-paced.

Their amenities like billiard is not free & charges guests P15/game.

The only positive feedback i could give is the panoramic view and the beach scene.

I would definitely be back in Bantayan but I wont ever GO BACK to this resort ever again! This is a THUMBS DOWN for us!

I stayed at Kota Beach almost a year ago with 3 of my friends when we were in Bantayan Island. What we loved about this resort is the beachfront. There are other resorts around the area, and we also tried to explore them (their surroundings at least) during our stay. Most of them, if not all, probably offer even better accommodation options than Kota Beach, but Kota has the better beachfront in that area. I loved the view during sunrise and sunset! It's really peaceful and serene. We woke up a little earlier in the morning and stayed a little bit more outside before twilight because it was what we originally wanted to see before we booked a room here.

Although it's more expensive, we stayed at one of the cottages fronting the beach so that we could take advantage of the view. Aside from that, there was nothing special about it. It was average to say the least. The cottage is actually a mid-sized room with a bathroom plus a small porch outside where you can chill and spend lazy afternoons reading a book or drinking coffee if it's your kind of thing. Aside from the beachfront, the free round-trip port transfers pretty much sealed the deal. The port is not too far however, so you may take a tricycle or "potpot" for example. Most of the beach resorts here offer free airport transfers by the way, so you have a lot of options. In Kota, there are also other accommodation types aside from the cottages, so you can choose the type that would fit your needs and budget.

At that time, I'm not sure if they already offered free Wi-Fi, but they did offer the basic amenities like towels and toiletries. The hotel also has a restaurant near the lobby. The prices are reasonable and the food palatable, but there are a few restaurants and bars outside the resort (within walking distance) where you can dine. They offer more options, and you'll be able to see a lot of tourists in that area also. The resort has bikes for rent for those who would like to explore the place more. It was in my bucket list, but we weren't able to do that because we chose to go island hopping and snorkeling for the most part. Nevertheless, there's a lot to see. Although small, the island is beautiful. I would like to go back some time in the future. :)

Room Tip: Choose the beachfront cottages for a fantastic view during sunrise and sunset :)
