This is a quite basic hotel but this is generally reflected in the prices so no one should be under any illusion it is anything else. The beach front duplex rooms 1 and 2 and triplex rooms 9, 10, 11 and the native cottage are beach front. You have an uninterrupted view of the beach from your veranda, which is the selling point. However, some of the verandas are not the most comfortable places to be with a bench seat stuck to the wall of your room. Our room, a beach front triplex was small, you could only get out of the bed on one side. No hanging space for clothes or drawers. And of course the shower so small its over the toilet. No fridge, no tv. They did appear to be building something at the rear of these triplexes, so whether this is to extend the shower room to a normal size remains to be seen. The rooms were in need of redecoration but this was going on in unoccupied rooms while we were there so again may be completed. Disappointingly the restaurant is not beachfront but behind the couple of rows of beach rooms, probably to keep it out of the constant sea breeze. Its not particularly inviting to look at and again was not a comfortable place. Either benches at tressle tables or rustic wooden furniture. While the rustic furniture looked ok its wasn’t somewhere you wanted to spend long eating or drinking as without cushions it was hard and uncomfortable. Meals at the restaurant were quite good in quality. And the staff, while being very friendly and trying to be helpful were a bit hit and miss. Twice our order was forgotten. A big error when we were two of only four people eating on one occasion. The beach though is great. And cleaned every morning, perhaps in response to previous negative reviews, they do make real efforts to keep the beach looking great. The beach is long enough to enjoy a good stroll and is not built up at all with restaurants and resorts. In fact at night you could only see lights at Beach Placid to eat. This beach is great and this is probably the best hotel on this beach. Your only alternative is to stay in Santa Fe, which has the restaurants for the evening, but the beach isn't as nice, although being more steeply shelving you can swim off Santa Fe beach at all times whereas at Beach Placid swimming at low tide was not possible. Or come here for the beach and travel to Santa Fe for eats and drinks at night. Pedal tricycle ‘taxis’ will take you for 20P per person YES US$1, per trip, its not hard to be a bit more generous. And Virgin island is as nice as everyone says it is and is well worth the trip

Ever since this review, the triplex bathrooms have been expanded and renovated, all rooms have been painted ans updated, we are mow building a new restaurant and we have added a new dining area for beachfront dining. We heard your concerns and we are improving as we go!

On the plus side, this resort has a beautiful sandy beach, nicely priced food available, aircon and friendly, eager staff. As was pointed out by earlier reviewers the rooms are bare basics and we did pay the same amount elsewhere with a few more frills. But our room was cleaned every day. Nice easy access to motorbikes, boats and services. Based on the above, I would have given a higher overall rating but the following were disappointments: first, it was not clear from the website that the room we booked did not have a little kitchenette. Apparently, the building is a duplex but only one has the kitchenette, yet the price is the same for both units so it's misleading. That said, the receptionist offered us the use of another kitchen during our stay. An earlier reviewer also commented on the mattresses which are terribly thin and the fact that you had to beg for toilet paper, you only got another roll once it was used up and we were 4 in our room. The most disappointing thing about the resort though is that relative to other local resorts, the staff here were incredibly pushy about the activities, following you around, asking you what you were doing, and trying to entice you to book a tour, etc. Not all the staff were this way, but we really felt hounded and interrogated by a couple of them. If it weren't for that I would have rated Beach Placid higher.

Room Tip: Choose one of the beachfront units.

Thank you for your review. About the canvassers they are not part of my staff. They may pose as part of the staff but they're not. I don't get involved with the services involving outside activities. Those folks are from the outside trying to make money by asking guests to go island hopping or island tours. The front desk will only offer those activities when asked. From now on I will not let those people go inside the resort.

The rooms are new and tidy. The resort staffs are accommodating and friendly. The owner Joan treats her guests like her own family.

Because the resort is on the quieter side of the island (away from the market or "mercado" where all the restaurants and bars are), there's no better place to take in all the sun, sea and sand away from the crowds. The staff are friendly, the food is alright and the accommodation is right for the price (read BARE ESSENTIALS). If you're picky about hotel rooms then this is definitely NOT the place.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms are the best.

Me and my family visited Bantayan over new years eve 2011, and stayed at beach placid beach resort. The resort was clean and the staff was helpful and very friendly. The beach at the resort was clean, but the beach close to the resort was extremely dirty full with garbage that have come from the sea.

Bantayan was a nice island and it is easy to get into Santa Fe by either a tricycle or by foot. The beach in Santa Fe is better than the one outside the resort.

The resorts restaurants serve good food, that not are over priced. The Internet is free, however the speed is similar to an old modem. The each of the wifi is limited and you can not use the wifi in the bungalows.

During our stay 5 nights they only cleaned the room once and gave us new towels. The room is simple but the beds are ok.
