After spending three nights and four days at this special resort we are concluding our familly have just experienced the best vacation stay ever. Not only does this place offer breathtaking beautifull sceenery, it also offers beautifully decoreded villas and staff that honnestly try to meet any request. Our kids, 3 and 6, enjoyed conveniently located playroom, the pools and the small private beach, even if not suitable for swimming. Prepare to stay at the resort without too many tours to maximize what this place can offer in terms of relaxation, comfortabillity and spiritual experience. A close to religious feeling when leaving! We're hooked and will be back soon again at some Banyan Tree resort

First things first: these villas are jaw dropping gorgeous. Bedroom opening up to private pool & hot tub, huge bathroom+living+kitchen. Before you know it you start to fantasize that you are at the royal summer palace that you (the king/queen) retreat to once a year.
If you're looking for the ultimate in seclusion and VIP treatment, this is the place for you. It can almost be eerily silent at times though -- so if you're seeking a lively atmosphere this resort isn't for you. Make sure to have the buggy (always just a quick phone call away) take you down to the beach access area. Just a few flights of stairs down and you have an endless stretch of raw and desolate beach to yourself. Strong surf so not for swimming but great for taking long walks.

Banyan Tree Ungasan lives up to its five star rating, though has some minor flaws.

Starting with the positives: the staff are wonderful and go out of their way to help. The villas are spacious, clean, private and very well designed. The villa infinity pool is devine and the bed and linen excellent. The views from the cliff top restaurant are amazing. The main pool is stunning.

And the negatives: our villa had a faulty air conditioner and the first night was very hot. An engineer came to repair whilst we were out, but on returning, the engineer had left and the ac still did not work. We called again and it was fixed but shouldn't take two attempts. We also had a blocked vanity which needed to be repaired. The food was good but not great. Not 5 star quality. It is 20 minutes by taxi to the nearest town. Don't come here if you want to do any shopping unless prepared to travel an hour to seminyak. Finally, 'sea view' and 'ocean view' as described are more 'sea and ocean glimpse'. The gym could be better equipped also. Restaurant and bar prices too high also.

All in all, a lovely resort with some fairly minor flaws. The villas and staff are the highlight. This is our first time to Bali so we don't have another resort to compare it to. Probably falls short of the Datai in Langkawi.

Perfect environment for relaxing, all staffs are polite and with high quality of services. In-villa BBQ is worth to take as it brings a private and romantic atmosphere for the dinning. The food is delicious in the Ju Ma La restaurant, also the environment is perfect. The villa equipped with private swimming pool and it is perfect for relax and leisure.

The location is quiet, on top of a cliff over the Indian Ocean. The grounds are lush, the air refreshing, and the beach below very exclusive and breath-taking. Our best time and many great photos came from that beach. Service staff is very friendly and responsive. Villas are of fair design, and take good advantage of the green and water, although certain details could be a bit more chic. Overall, it's a quality place, and well tended by people who care. A solid Banyan Tree.

Absolutely amazing hotel!
We had an ocean view cliff villa and we were not disappointed. The living accommodation is huge - the bathroom is enormous, the bedroom uncluttered and tranquil, the loung/dining area has wonderful views and the pool, patio & jacuzzi are just amazing.
We did not realise that January is the rainy season and when it rained, it pooured down! Still very warm and we did have some nice sunny weather during our short 5 day stay.
You get around the resort by golf buggy - call reception and within a couple of minutes, your tranpsort arrives. It was quiet during our stay and the main pool bar was never open, but we were able to get drinks at the restaurants and also we enjoyed a few in our villa. Food was very good - we ate twice at the main restaurant, once at Tamarind (a Mongolian BBQ) and once at Jumana, the fine dining restaurant which is located on the cliff edge with fabulous views over the ocean.

The staff were wonderful - always smiling and so friendly getting to know you by name and treating you like family rather than residents. On the day we were leaving, after breakfats, every member of staff came to us to say goodbye, have a good journey and we hopw to see you again soon. We were on a half board basis and we were glad as it is expensive. Drinks in particular, especially imported wine, but we tried the local wine (worked out about £28 a bottle) and this was okay.

The hotel is little isolated as it is located on the edge of the peninsula about 30m drive from Kutu, but if you are after a restful, peaceful break away from the chaos of the main city, this place is wonderful and we would love to go back and be able to experience the full service in a sunnier period.

Room Tip: The villas are all private and in beautiful locations, I don't think you could get a bad room.

All I can say is that me and my partner had a wonderful stay at this amazing resort from the time we arrived till the moment we departed. Our villa was fantastic and service from all Banyan Tree staff was consistently impeccable. The GM, Mr Jamal Hussein also made an effort to welcome me and my partner on arrival and sent us off when we checked out of the resort. Thank you Banyan Tree, Ungasan. We'll definitely be back for a visit again.
