We first came here in 2010 and returned again this year September 2012. Last time it was really good but tonight was even better. We sat outside on the terrace overlooking the pretty cove of Benagil and it's eclectic collection of fishing boats and locals going about their day-to-day business. We all ordered something different, my Wife and Dad ordered monkfish to share, Mum ordered grilled fish and I had a mixed meat kebab. The rest of my family were all going "hmmm, yum" and I certainly was tucking into my epic kebab, that took quite some devouring but was beautifully cooked, tender bits of meat with gently mixed herbs and spices. Even the side salad was elegantly presented with a little tarragon and a slight french dressing (or something along those lines).
In a nutshell, take it from the entire Lewis family that Cas Lamy is well worth a visit. Some people have commented here that the service is slow, our orders were taken promptly, the food took awhile to come (fair enough, that is indeed the case) but then we are so used in the UK to eating microwaved food from restaurants which does take seconds to cook and then is served half heartedly by a scowling girl who doesn't want to be working on a Sunday, or indeed ever at all - We should learn from continental restaurants like this that taking time to prepare and serve beautiful, honest food is WELL WORTH the wait! When served with a smile and a friendly piece of banter, that is fantastic!
