Nice, clean, accommodating place with excellent customer service.

However, we were charged to use the facilities, such as the spa (relaxation area) and the gym. The relaxation area could only be booked for 45 minute sessions. There was no interactive TV service-no movies! The restaurant changed its menu to a fixed menu within 2 days of our stay, which minimised our choice. From reading other people's reviews you may also be charged for using the tennis court. Pool table, computer use, and play station also charged which I feel for guests should be included. The double room we booked was a twin room with beds put together we a make-shift mattress.

Mini bus to town is free and helpful. Restaurant Brasserie Rosal at the back of hotel is a must.

If your looking for a hotel to do absolutely nothing in then this is the place for you.

We wouldn't return to this hotel due to the location. A car is necessary to see more.

If your looking for a no frills home style cooked meal go to Al Forne in the town. Piri pir chicken mmmmmmm! Beware of chili sauce so hot! But very yummy.

4 of us stayed here for 7 nights from 10th October and find it most excellent. We know that it was quite isolated before booking and this was part of it's charm for us - quiet and relaxing. We did not rent a car and found for 10 euros each way you could get to the huge Jumbo hypermarket in Lagoa, so we did our main shop here. The shuttle into Carviero was handy and there was also an option to stop off at the nearby beach. I would say that a car would be useful in general, I just do not want to drive personally. As a travel agent I have visited and stayed in a variety of properties over the years and this one up amongst the best. Usually the reception staff can be quite stuffy and robotic but here they were wonderful and went out of their way for us. I toured all of the rooms on a site visit to ensure I got a feel for the place. The standard rooms are well appointed with good views from the balconies and are more than sufficient for most travellers. The suite has the same facilities but with an added lounge and dining area and a huge balcony, ideal for couples wanting space or families with smaller children. We stayed in a townhouse which was very spacious and cannot recommend highly enough the superior properties, villa 25 was fab and the block we were on was directly facing the small pool which we almost had to ourselves. Overall cannot recommend the place and enough and cannot wait ti go back.

Room Tip: Block where 25 is situated.

What makes this hotel special? Location and staff! The hotel is immaculate in every way. The staff are so friendly that you soon feel like a part of a family, which they appear to be. They work together as a united team to welcome and look after every guest. Yes, it may appear a little slow at times in the pool bar and restaurant area but it is us who need to learn to chill out and benefit from relaxation.
We have stayed for many years in properties to the rear of this hotel and even saw the beginning of it's construction. We have previously frequented it to eat, breakfast, lunch and dinner. We decided to finally stay there and are very glad we did.
It is too rural for some, if you are the Blackpool or Benidorm type then do not visit. We love the peace and quiet but do hire a car for a few days to explore other beaches and local restaurants.
When we arrived our holiday company had failed to convey to the hotel that we were half board. The receptionist told us not to worry about it, to just go ahead and have our evening meal and she would contact the company the following day to rectify matters, which she did. The whole holiday for us was stress free. Transport from the airport, this avoiding the settling of the stupid toll system; immaculate rooms; fantastic buffet breakfast.... Which WAS HOT; shuttle service to and from two different locations; immaculate grounds; not having to shop for and prepare food after deciding what we would cook. Special mention for Jose Pedro, Anna and Isabel on whom I practised my fledgling Portugese.
Although we have already booked our other place to stay in April we will be back to eat and drink with you and say Bom Dia!
We look forward to booking to stay with you again.

I found this hotel on one of the deal websites. It cost 509 euro for 2 adults with 5 nights full board.
My friend and I booked our flights and went in September. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the hotel.
The hotel is quite rural with beautiful gardens. The location may not suit everyone it was perfect for our needs. There wasn't a sound while relaxing in the garden, no children around or loud music.
We enjoyed the spa very much and cost is very reasonable.
The staff were exceptional, food delicious with plenty of choice. The hotel is spotless at all times.
It is the most relaxing holiday we ever had. I'm watching my mails for another offer for this hotel.

My wife and I stayed there for 7 nights last month and were very pleased we chose this hotel. The pictures on their website really do not do the place justice. The place was spotless, the staff were all genuinely friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. We got an offer that included 3 dinners in the week and that is really the only weak point as there was a lack of choice on the set menu. It has a portuguese 4 star rating and I would go along with that, we had aircon in the room (and it worked!), mini bar that didn't have silly prices and the overall cost of food and drinks was probably on par with the UK. Wasps were a problem if you sat outside for breakfast but you'll suffer that wherever you go.We will be going back next year!

Room Tip: We had a double bed that could have slept 5! They have suites available that are bigger but we did n...

Needed a relaxing holiday and that was exactly what we had. Smart, modern hotel, beautiful pool and grounds. Spotlessly clean bedroom with lovely view and balcony. From arrival to departure the staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. Within 24 hours, everyone knew who we were and greated us with big smiles.Breakfast was superb with everything you could possibly expect and a little more. Transport to Carvoeiro and beach, easy and convenient. And the Spa..... Absolutely wonderful!!! The only small niggle would be that the set menu, designed for half-board which we were, was not brilliant. Not terrible but not brilliant. Chose from the A La Carte Menu on the last night and had a fantastic meal.Quiet, peaceful and wonderful service. Just what we needed. Thank you to all! We will be back!!

Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel for a week in September. The hotel itself is quite modern, pool is very nice, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere in terms of layout and lighting. Our room was probably just above par for Europe - not luxury, but modern and clean. Mini bar was reasonably priced.

I have to say our main problem with our stay was service in the restaurant - it was incredibly slow on every night we ate there (4 nights). One one night, a man lost his temper and left, and on another night, a young couple also left. On the nights we ate there, we waited over an hour to an hour and a half for our main courses. On the fourth night, they did not charge us for our main because of the delay (we didn't complain but presumably other guests had and they were finally taking some action - I have seen several other reviews which said service was slow - it's disappointing that this problem was still ongoing).

Service was definitely lacking - I noticed people who had made reservations who were left standing awkwardly at the entrance, while they waited for a table to become available (there were several tables which were empty but had not been cleared, and the person who greeted them did not make it a priority to have them seated).

The lunch and dinner menus weren't bad, some dishes very nice, others passable, others pretty bad. One dessert for example was a slice of pineapple, a few grapes and a slice of orange - not good enough! Breakfast wasn't overly great, the only patries available were plain croissants.

The reception staff are distinctly more pleasant and helpful than the bar and restaurant staff (who I imagine are rather curt due to receiving so many complaints from hungry guests!) The ladies at reception speak English very well, know the local area and are willing to assist in anything you need - booking taxis, giving directions, arranging trips, as well as the normal requests, my husband fell and needed some first aid supplies which they provided quickly.

The bar staff as I said are rather curt - I would say really quite unfriendly, we didn't have a pleasant encounter with any of them during a week stay!

The hotel provides a shuttle bus to Carvoiero (a small town with a beach and restuarants / bars). The beach is quite small but nice, you can lie on the sand for free, or hire sunbeds with parasols for 20Euro a day. Ladies - there isn't really any shopping here - 2 boutiques at most, plus all the usual shops selling keyrings / towels, so if you want proper shopping, go to Albufeira or Portimao (the "Aqua Centre" in Portimao has alot of shops including Zara Home, underwear shops, Mango, and a food hall). There are a few water parks nearby, we went to Slide and Splash which was good and had a good luch cafe.

The hotel also provides a bus to Miranha beach - the beach has beautiful scenery in terms of big cliffs and caves all around, however we didn't go in the water as it was very very rocky - it wouldn't be comfortable / safe to walk over as the waves were quite powerful.

There is a very nice restaurant just outside the hotel - Brasserie Rosal. It does an all you can eat BBQ on certain nights. Food there is really very good (better than the hotel, so whilst we had paid for dinner on all nights, we chose to eat elsewhere on three as weren't hugely impressed wiht the hotel food).

Overall enjoyable enough, but I wouldn't go back.
