“Wellness for the soul”
Reviewed 17 July 2013

Although we actually did not make use of the wellness offering, our choice for the Suites Alba resort proved to be the right one. The tranquility, kindness of the staff and the fact that we didn't have to do anything for 11 days in a row, was quite relaxing. Beuatiful location, a bit off-the-road and for scary drivers maybe a bridge too far. But the location makes up for that. Two beautiful beaches (small though and when we were there flooded with seaweed unfortunately). Nice beach bar 'Pirata' with very friendly locals. Only criticism: for the older kids it can be a little too quiet. It would be wise to organize some activities like volleyball, soccer tournament etc. Special thanks to João from the reception. 'Goedmiddag, Goedavond'...;-)

Room Tip: Sea view suites offer best value for money, especially ground floor.

We stayed in early July as a family of 4. Our accommodation was fabulous with a double bedroom, twin bedroom, large living room and a kitchen/dining room. The suites are beautifully appointed and in pristine condition. Having a kitchen with fridge, microwave and cooker was very handy on a couple of occasions as we decided to have a quiet night in. There is also a balcony where it is lovely to sit in the evening with a cool pre-dinner drink (or two).
The resort is located on a low cliff top above a small but quiet beach. To get to the resort you have to drive down a narrow winding road, but it is this remoteness that appeals to many guests. There are no other hotels for miles and very few residences in the area, so it is a very private location.
The resort itself is quite small (or perhaps 'compact et bijou'), but this means it never feels crowded or busy. I would recommend the use of a hire car if you want to do anything other than lie by the pool with a cocktail. There are nearby towns such as Carvoeira or Armacao de Pera where there are restaurants, shops, nightlife etc. For the kids a visit to Slide and Splash is a must. There are also many other activities in the area (but you will need a car) such as watersports, horse riding, jeep tours, karting and of course sightseeing in some of the beautiful small towns and villages.
I would certainly recommend Suites Alba and would go back again without hesitation - but do hire a car unless you intend to put down roots for your entire holiday.

It has been a little while since we returned back on May 8th but I felt I needed to write a review on this stunning resort.
This was advertised as a four star but in my estimation is a clear 5 star in every way.
On arrival at the resort we entered an exceptionally well presented reception area, well presented staff with a warm welcome, informative, relaxed approach, with good communication skills.
We where then transported to our villa suit only moments from reception. First impressions are vital in the business and we where not disappointed. The grounds are immaculate with bursts of colour and fragrant scents in abundance. Entering our suit was a vast living area adjoining the spacious well appointed kitchen dinning area looking out over our own balcony area which then overlooked the resort. You could see the full extent of the spacious resort.
There was various staff milling around maintaining the well tendered public areas.
The quality of the inertia within the suit was first class you could just feel that no expense had been spared. All areas where cleaned daily to a high standard with attention to detail such as fluffy clean dressing gowns for the use of, embroider face towels bed linen all with Alba emblem, all just adding to the experience.
There where 2 double well appointed bedrooms with crisp white linen bed sheets, flat screen TV in both bedrooms, rich hardwood furniture adorned the rooms providing minimalistic elegance in both rooms both with their own air conditioning systems. Making a cool relaxing area with opulent surroundings.
The dinning area was a 5 min stroll from our suit; again this area was spacious and airy providing you with panoramic scenic views of the Carvoeiro coast line which was around 150 yards from the main resort. Breakfast was a variation of tastes ranging from full English breakfast, to meats, chesses, breakfast pastries, salads, as we had booked Bed and Breakfast we obtained this within the deal, we also received Champagne along side our breakfast which was such a nice touch. Again staff where friendly and helpful but discreet.
The infinity pool was well situated set into a decked area again overlooking the Carvoeiro coast line, the pool was a little cold on entry but I felt this was needed as the temperatures where reaching a pleasant 24 degrees. The high degree of tropical plantation within the resort is beautiful as you wander round absorbing the peaceful surroundings adding to the ambiance of the resort. Dotted around the area are cascading sculpture fountains which again add to the overall feel of opulence.
The spar was cool and relaxing as we where treated to 2 full body massages and a Cleopatra bath, well trained staff friendly and open attended to your ever need. This was also covered In the price of our package so no hidden extras there.
There where 2 beaches close by approx 150 yards down from the resort this was also prefect the coast line was breathe taking winding down to 2 secluded beach areas, this appears to be 2 private beaches it has that feel as not many people would use them only over the weekend when locals would descend. They where clean and safe. They are public beaches but it does not feel that way again perfect. Safe for children but I feel for the elderly a little bit too steep of a climb getting down to it.
There always have to be one area that Alba suits could improve on and this would be the transport links into Carvoeiro, Taxis where expensive and would charge various rates ranging from 9 Euros to 19 Euros yes I said 19 for the same journey. A suggestion would be that Alba suits could place a shuttle service on into Carvoeiro at certain times of the day from patrons and at a cost say 6 Euros each way. Alba suits are secluded which is fine but if you do not like driving abroad travelling to and from Carvoeiro can be costly.
Carvoeiro town is beautiful it has a feel of Cannes quite cosmopolitan chic and not brash, no hording groups of hen/stag parties just pleasant tavern’s integrated with traditional sea food restaurants with the obligatory souvenir shops but no lucky lucky men. It is based in a sheltered cove again when eating at night you are viewing the evening sun sets.
So as you will all now be aware Carvoeiro / Alba Suits is a must to see and visits this jewel is worth it.

We enjoyed our week holiday in the resort. The staff was very friendly a helpful. The location is perfect for spending nice and quiet holiday out of town. I recommend rent a car and driving to the resort. The suites are big and good equipped. The cleaning was done daily unfortunately the floors were only washed and never swept. We found sand from the beach every day on the same place as previous day. The food was OK; we would appreciate a little more variety for breakfast. Unfortunately we didn’t get an opportunity to use a nice close beach as it was windy or the beach was covered by black seaweed.

This was a great find in the Algarve and I will definitely be going back.
Imagine finding the only 10km of coastline in the Algarve that are still unspoilt and unbuilt? well, this is it. It's a small winding road to get there, but that just means you're truly in the middle of nowhere. The hotel is surrounded by pine forests, and the sea, and it's an amazing location. Although, if you're arriving from Faro airport, it's worth renting a car, because it'll save you the hassle of having to take a taxi.
The villa suites are great, really lovely done up, with everything you might need. The beds are super comfortable.
And the whole resort is outstanding, the gardens are beautiful, the swimming pool is stunning, and the restaurant served amazing food.
I didn't try the spa, but it looked lovely.

All the staff in the resort was extremely friendly and professional and really going out of their way to making sure we were happy. When you get there, they take you around the resort on a golf buggy and get shown to your suite.
There's a beautiful coastline here too, you can easily walk down to the cliffs to see the view which is amazing (the beach is easily accessible too).

We stayed here this weekend for a two night stay and wish it was longer. The resort is so beautiful, only 50 suites, mainly adults. Great views of the sea, beautiful infinity pool. The suites are done out immaculately with plenty of space, especially just for two. the pool was never busy, plenty of sunbeds and reception staff were very helpful. We didn't eat in the restaurant but drove into Caeveiro which is a cute little spot. If you drive around the little back roads you will also find lots of little restaurants with great food. A lot of reviews said it was hard to find the hotel and even reception asked us on arrival but if you print off the directions from the website before you leave its dead easy!

Only improvements would be breakfast - waiting at the table at least for coffee would have been nice, an the food could be a little cool, although plenty of choice. WiFi also expensive, 7 euros for 24 hours for only one device and it didn't always work.

Room Tip: Unless desperate for a sea view don't bother paying the extra for a smaller room, garden are b...

We booked it online so we could be near family who were already in the resort of carvoeiro it is
16 euro to get to carvoeriro and 10 back and 65 euro from the airport. The villa suites are lovely
massive staff excellent the garden area out back beautiful with the most strange looking birds however although there is a pool ect the bar was not opening until june and we had to get butter on room serivice as there was no shops supermarkets ect and we didnt want to get taxis everyday.
The cliffs are stunning views but my advice is take a car or stay in carvoeiro which is a bubling
resort and suits alba should be billed as being in albandeira not in carvoero and why did it cost us 16 to go and only 10 euros back clearly this was a hotel deal.

Room Tip: take a car
