Location:- good for walking into local restaurants and driving out to both ends of the Algarve.
First impressions, contemporary designed modern top floor apartment with views overlooking Lagoa. The dining room area is comfortable with plenty of seating with a six person dining room table and large wall mounted flat screen TV with the variety of channels for most languages and very good Wi-Fi. The kitchen was well equipped with all the basics and it was nice to have a bag of ice in the freezer on our arrival. There is a distinct lack of well-placed sockets (there are sockets but we don’t think they are in the appropriate places – for instance the breakfast bar has a shutter open and shut switch, a light switch but no power point which would have been useful for the laptop and the lack of a “down light” over the sink area meant that when using the sink it is in total shadow in the evenings. The cutlery was for 12 people but the crockery was for four. The fridge/freezer is large enough for a family of four for a two week stay.
The bedrooms are square rooms with a large sliding wardrobe, double bed with a minimalist mattress and two bedside tables. But it is obviously still work in progress because the single pendant light was just that and the television cabling was ready for a flat screen TV. It desperately needs a table or worktop area/chair and again, the mirror was hanging on the door – this is not really fit for purpose -the reflective image gives a distorted view - and the electrical socket for the hair dryer was the other side of the room by the window. We were at a loss as to why they have two bedrooms and two separate bathrooms. For a small two bedroom flat why not just make them both en-suite. It meant going out of your bedroom and into the bathroom next door, a rather missed opportunity for comfort for the guests. The bathroom itself was lacking anywhere to hang bathrobes, towels etc. and neither had an extractor fan. All in all throughout the property there was a lack of small details which would have brought it from OK to excellent another example, the lack of a clothes line or similar for drying towels and clothing. This property has obviously been bought as an investment and furnished to a time / price buget.
The garage though was for us in a Nissan X-trail a waste of space. The turning area into the garage was a minimum width of the back street and no amount of manoeuvring into it could be achieved. However, a smaller saloon car would be OK. Having said that, we parked outside the apartment where there was plenty of on road parking.
Ultimately it is a holiday rental. Was it adequate for our purposes? – yes. Could it be improved on? – yes. Would we return? – possibly if only for its location.
