There seems to be very mixed reviews of this hotel but we really enjoyed our weekend in April 2013. Although I had booked about 4 weeks previously through a Groupon deal, the Receptionist could not find our booking! However fortunately she had a room for us, 111, and it was a lovely, warm, big room in a quiet part of the hotel. The hotel is a little different with dark furniture and dark walls but we really liked it. The bed was comfortable, with a duvet, and extra pillows were delivered within minutes. The bathroom was great as was the shower. Everywhere was very clean and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was an excellent selection at breakfast including fresh fruit, yogurts etc. The cooked breakfast was also very good with a good selection. Although breakfast finished at 10 am we noticed there were guests still coming in until 10.30 am and the staff made no fuss at all and just showed them to a table. We were not particularly impressed with the limited dinner menu and so we ate out both nights. Although the hotel is a little way out of Nottingham, we drove the the Park and Ride and caught the tram into Nottingham. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Room Tip: We had room 111 and it was very quiet.

We visited Dakota for two nights over Friday & Saturday night. From the outside the place does not look like a hotel more like an office block but its a lovely building,

Reception has a lovely high ceiling which makes the place look bigger, large leather sofa's & a separate lounge area off to one side where afternoon tea was being served. The receptionist was friendly enough and we were given good enough directions to our room. I did read quite a few reviews on here that one of the lifts had an odour should we say and it does, the hotel is fully aware and i believe replacing the carpet in the lift will do the trick.

Our room was easy enough to find and was spotless, the bathroom was spotless, clean, fluffy, massive bath towels you could wrap round yourself almost twice. The bathroom was very modern looking and the shower was easily big enough for two (if you wanted). The toiletries were not as advertised on the website but no matter there was some to use, which smelled nice and did the job. One massive bonus of the bath room is the heated towel rail and the full length heated mirror that never steams up. The shower i struggled with but i think its because i couldn't find the right temperature setting. My partner loved the shower & did not have the same problem.

The rooms have the same modern feel with an exposed brick wall and matching dark furniture. They have tried to keep everything to the same standard and theme, however as much lighting as there is, it was a little dark. The room itself was big enough with a nice flat screen wall mounted tv, a nice desk with another mirror and plenty of shelves for your clothes. I would say there is not so much hanging space but how much do you really need for one or two nights. There was also hidden away tea & coffee making facilities. I was a little disappointed only two normal teas, no biscuits or hot chocolate but it did say in the room guide if you wanted more to call reception.

The bed was king size and that was just in a standard rooms which we did not expect, it was quite firm but I like firm. You get one soft pillow each and one firm pillow. If they are not to you liking or prefer feather they will change them for you. There was no duvet only sheets and a blanket, this was not to my liking but my partner preferred this.

There was only one thing that was lacking in service & that was when we needed an iron & ironing board and it took over 40 mins to arrive but it came and was functional at least.

The restaurant is a nice setting, some of the chairs need to be replaced as the leather is worn through to the stuffing on the arms.

Breakfast was a lovely spread, all buffet, which hot & cold selection, cereals, pasties, fruit, yogurts & your usual hot choice. DIY toast was OK, bit like warm bread but OK if you pop through the toaster twice. Jam selection was a little disappointing with only Strawberry Jam Marmalade, Nutella or Marmite but we cant have it all.

All in all a lovely stay, nice staff and comfy room.

This was my fist trip to Dakota Nottingham and what a pleasant surprise. Totally different feel about the place, quality fit out for both the restaurant and hotel, you could take any business colleagues there anytime and in the knowledge they would always be impressed and comfortable. The restaurant is well designed throughout. Staff are most friendly and helpful. Our menu was very comprehensive and providing choices for all tastes. Service was quick but not rushed and the food very well presented and perfectly cooked. Will certainly be back with the family soon.

Room Tip: Didn't stay over on this occasion and so unable to assist with accommodation this time.

We stayed at the hotel on a Saturday evening. The receptionist greeted us with the normal form filling, but did not inform us where the restaurant was, time of breakfast and where this would be.

The hotel's interior is very dark throughout. The reception desk isnt very attractive at all. Some fresh flower arrangements would be nice. The corridors are dark and very dusty. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was nice. Tea/coffee making facilities and also very good aircon. Again though the room was very dark with exposed brickwork and brown walls.

All the staff in the restaurant were extremely friendly, attentive and efficient. The chicken liver parfait starter was far too creamy. Our main courses of pork fillet, and also sirloin steak were very good. Side dishes we thought were overpriced. Wine prices were reasonable. The partitioning in the restaurant was extremely dusty.

Breakfast was very good. Buffet style including cooked things. Good quality too. Everything you would want. Again staff were efficient. Making your own toast is always a nuisance. Also extra cutlery other than spoons should be available.

We enjoyed our stay but felt the public areas need refurbishing and given a thorough cleaning.

I booked a break via groupon and after reading a few reviews I had slightly mixed feelings about me and my boyfriends weekend away. First impressions were good... The entrance is grand and the hotel is very modern. The bedroom was very clean and I liked the decor. The problem started at bedtime. The walls are very thin and guests above had their tv playing music at 2am. I am a light sleeper however I could clearly hear all the words to one direction and many other tunes on the music channel followed by laughing and screaming ... It sounded so loud it felt like they were in our room. Reception did sort the problem very quickly however it has put me off returning. I was looking forward to a nice shower in the morning to wake me up as it was a modern power shower.. I was slightly disappointed to find a rain shower has more water.. The pressure was very low, it was more of a slow trickle. In all the hotel is nice, if your a deep sleeper.. I'm off now to get some sleep zzzzzz
