Different from the more populated resorts you'll find a small scaled sanctuary of true tranquility and peace. We were welcomed by the bright and shiny personality of Josette who made us feel like home. Make sure to have a chat with Josette before making your reservation. We had an amazing lunch at the beach side, which is a private beach. The water is just stunning at this side. A marvellous hub to explore the island from. Well done!

We spent 5 days at Josettes beautiful B&B in Black River. The room had an amazing view of the ocean and the great sunsets in Mauritius. Breakfast was served at the beach, while you had your feet in the warm sand and a perfect view.
We arrived on a Sunday and all shops were closed, so Josette reserved a table for us in advance at a very good restaurant only 5 walking minutes away along the beach. The rest of the dinners we had at Lantenier Bleus with the other guests.
The food was fantastic!!! Everything was freshly prepared and just...YUMM!
We'd recommend this B&B to anyone. Thanks a lot, Josette, for a beautiful stay in Mauritius.

Les Lataniers bleus is a wonderful place! We enjoyed the gorgeous garden, the beautiful beach, the peace and tranquility of the resort. The host, Madame Josette, takes care of her guests and all our requests and expectations were fulfilled at once. Our room (filao with garden view) was spacious and the bed very comfortable; the bathroom is new and all was very clean. The veranda, where we spent memorable moments watching the sunset, is furnished in the typical Creole style with a very cozy sofa.
I can recommend this hotel to everybody: to in-love-couples, to families and to everybody who is looking for a wonderful place at affordable prices.
thanks for the magic moments we spent there!

Room Tip: Take the Filao room with sea view or garden view, they have both direct access to the beach!

After conducting business in Port Louis I decided to get my wife out from the UK for a 10 day holiday and having spent a working lifetime on aeroplanes and in Hotels wanted something more intimate and laid back for time out.
For us Josette and Olivier's place is perfect and utter bliss, being a unique holiday experience in a world of large soulless hotels, or even small boutique ones that cram every inch of available beach front.
The Hosts and staff are so friendly and helpful, plus every aspect of ones stay is attended to, you can eat in (recommended ) or out, you can buy extras at the local supermarket and augment your breakfast or not, you can use the on site wine and booze or bring in your own.
There is nothing better than Jack Vettriano style sitting at a slate table on the beach sharing a bottle of South African bubbly watching the sun go down over the lagoon beneath the soughing Cassurina trees.
You can veg out on the beach all day with an occasional dip in the Lagoon or go for a cruise on a catamaran, dive beyond the reef, swim with Dolphins or walk in the magnificent forests of the Black River Gorge, I did it all but preferred hanging out at the Les Lataniers Bleus.
This is the tropics and mosquitoes are a fact of life so be prepared however in May not so much a problem and all the rooms are protected. We are not talking about 5 star luxury accommodation, its much better than that.
In my experience best guest house on the planet.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 5 Flambouyant House which was prefect for us. There is a fair choice of accommodatio...

The host is very friendly and makes for interesting conversations. The setting and the beach are nice enough, if not exceptional. One problem we had is that there simply are too many mosquitoes. Also, not really good value for money.

I stayed at the Lataniers Bleus for a week and had a great time. The thing that impressed me the most was the great customer service. Owners Josette and Olivier are very friendly and got ouf of their way to make sure that the guests are satisfied. They are both entrepreneurs with interesting backgrounds which make for great conversations. The hotel is quiet and has its own beach on the lagoon. The water is shallow , and while it's not ideal for swimming it's great and very safe for young kids. You can also walk a few minutes south to the public beach which has deeper water. Jogging on the beach was great. My room was in a "villa" (small, independent house) and was very nice and clean. Breakfast was delicious (bread, fresh fruits, pancakes etc...), served by the beach, and the hotel went out of their way to accomodate my gluten-free request. They also serve dinners, which guests take together sitting at a great table - family style. Dinner was always great, offering excellent local (créole) dishes. Besides the beach, Josette will book for you different activities on your request. I spent a day on a catamaran (great scenery, dolphins, snorkeling, and very good BBQ on the boat), and also took a short boat ride to snorkel with the dolphins nearby, which was an unforgettable experience. The beautiful "Mornes" mountain and peninsula are only a few miles south. There can be a few mosquitoes in the early morning and in the evening so I would recommend bringing a mosquito spray. I would also bring water sandals, especially for kids because of the corral.
As mentioned in other reviews, this is not a big luxury resort, so if this is what you expect this would be the wrong place. If, on the other hand, you expect a friendly, relaxing, quiet place with friendly people and great customer service, then you should love it. I was on my own on a business trip and am now strongly considering going back with my family as I'm sure that my wife and kids would love it. Josette and Olivier, thank you very much for the warm welcome.

Room Tip: The villas are very nice, and there is one right on the beach which has unmatched views.
