Great location, shame about the cabin

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Apr 2010
The ranch is in a great spot, close enough to Disney (if you have a car) and far enough away for some peace and quiet. The reception was fast and smooth (although we did arrive at 7pm). The cabin was pretty dire to be honest. It had an awful smell as we opened the door, the fittings were pretty ancient, bathroom was terrible, cooking facilities were minimal. It is obvious that the cabins have been in use since it opened sometime around 1987 and are badly in need of replacement. On the plus side, the restaurant was ok. Food was generally good, and staff very helpful. The supermarket had most things we needed, most of it vastly overpriced, but then this IS France...although probably 80% of the floor space was given up to Disney© merchandise. All in all although the accommodation was grotty, we enjoyed our stay in France, but this was mainly due to the fact we didn't spend too much time in the cabin.

We booked this place having read other people's reviews and let me tell you we weren't disappointed. Upon booking we had requested one of the new 2 bed cabins and upon our arrival it seemed that we were the first to occupy. We were travelling as a group of 4 adults and 2 children as we were celebrating my nephews birthday in Eurodisney and we found the accomodation adequate. It had 2 bedrooms (not huge) but one with a double bed and en-suite shower room/wc. The other with 3 singles and a family shower room and separate w/c, all of which were VERY clean and looked un-used. Nice size lounge with a small kitchen area, which made it slightly dangerous with young kids running around more so if you've got something on the stove but otherwise/overall excellent. Outside a spacious decked patio area with adequate seeting area for 6/8 people as well as your own BBQ and parking space.

Set on spacious grounds there are a number of things to do dependent on when you're there, having said that the pool is open all of the time and was fun for all. The resteraunt next door is like a glorified Harvester though it is a buffet. Overall the food was nice though the disappointing thing with a number of the items was once it was gone, it was gone !!!

Finally, a car/MPV is a MUST for getting around from here to the theme parks(10 mins max). Not only that but if you get one of the cabins that are closer to the reception then getting to and from the leisure area is a fair walk and dependent on the time of year it can get cold in the evenings to walk back.

we have recently returned from our 5 night stay at the davy crockett ranch. This was our second visit. We travelled by euro tunnel with our 4 children aged 8,6,3,2 and my sister in law and her partner and 6 children ages 14,12,12,11,8,and 3. Its a long drive but we were really pleased as we managed to get a free upgrade to one of the new 2 bed bungalows. (we had originally booked a one bed each) I just basically asked if there were any of the newer cabins available and the receptionist was more than happy to upgrade us !!
It was fabulous we had bungalows next to eachother. Really clean and had everything we needed. The showers are great, the only thing we couldve done with was a toaster! - which you can hire but they wanted a 30.00 euro deposit for one.
We had a huge fridge with a freezer compartment.
The weather was so nice that one evening we actually had a BBQ out on our decking! My husband drove over to the local supermarket -( carrefore) and got the BBQ food. We took alot of food with us actually, like pasta and sauce, bacon, sausages, eggs, water, crisps, beans, soup, ham and cheese, cereal, biscuits etc .
we were able to use the breakfast bread for picnic in the park the next day and we cooked our own meals in the evenings - the cost of food is high in the park and as there were 14 of us it was expensive for us to all eat out together. We had a 5 night / 6day stay and so we were able to do everything - all the rides in both parks and all the shows it was brilliant, the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Last year we only did a 3 night / 4 day stay and didnt manage to fit everything in, but this time we were more organised and having the two extra days meant we could fit it all in without rushing around.
The davy crockett ranch swimming pool is lovely the kids really enjoyed it and being open until 10pm meant we could go for a swim after being at the parks all day and the children enjoyed playing in the small play area at the ranch.
Its worth making the most of the extra magic hours being able to go to the park at 8am (2hours before it opens), we had mc donalds breakfast in the disney village which was good.

Its definately worth asking for an upgrade as we stayed in an old one bed cabin last year which were a bit run down and need upgrading. But for the amount of time you are in the cabins they are fine we spent every day in the park and pool.
We would definately go back again . Its 2 star so you get what you pay for , we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the ranch. It was a cheap week away all in all it cost us £441 for the ranch for 2 adults and 4 children for 5 nights 6 days so cant complain at that!

We spent three nights at davy crockett ranch and had a fantastic time. The cabins were more then comfortable and served there purpose. i loved the location and so did the children it was an adventure in itself. The on site swimming pool was lovely, and lots of activites that we just couldn't fit in.The breakfasts in the morning were lovely, and the staff very helpful, we asked for more pillows and within a few minutes the staff arrived with them nothing was to much trouble.
the cabins were lovely and warm, and I had a well deserved soak in the bath which had plenty of room im pretty tall for a girl 5"8 and I was very comfey, the shower was also good.
I cannot fault the resort, we had a bargin break and got more then we payed for,of course this is not 5* luxury if thats what you want then your going to have to pay.
It's about 10 minutes from disneyland itself but not a problem for us. We are going again next year and I would be more then happy to stay here again no problem.
We had a lovely time and we were all sad to leave :( .

For a first time driver in france this trip was soooooo easy. the toles are payed at the bottom of the A1 - 20.20euros. We then followed the A104 to the A4. We found the ranch off junc 13 of the A4. The driving took only 3hrs, but we did stop and let the kids stretch their legs. On arrival at the ranch the security was very good and the reception was fantastic. The staff spoke english and were amazing. We got a free upgrade to a two bed cabin and wow it was brilliant. We went to the park, then on our return we were amazed how clean and spacious our lodge was. It was fully kitted out with kitchen equipment, TV was cool and the bathrooms were very very clean and welcoming. The main complex was like being in a old western town. The shop had every thing that you would need and more. The playground was clean and safe, swimming pool was great - bit of advice, get there at 3pm, its quiet and you can use all the facilities real easy.

The park was easy to get to from the ranch. Just get on from junc 13 and stay right to junc 14, drive straight forward to the Disney car park. Parking is soooooo easy at the park. It is very secure and only takes less than 5mins to walk to the park. On leaving the park just drive back to the A4 and get off at junc 13!

The cabin we had was a two bedroom. It was very spacious, had its own parking outside with a veranda and picnic table which was new! The heating was very good, kept our baby daughter very warm indeed. The sliding doors opened up and the kids played in the woods which were right outside and safe as we could see them at all times. Breakfast was collected from a small hut which was served from 7.30am. We got loads of food along with coffee and chocolate, so you dont need to buy bread at the shop! If you have a fussy child like we did who didnt like french breakfasts, BRING YOUR OWN CEREAL, AS THE SHOP CHARGES 7.60euros FOR A CEREAL SELECTION PACK!!!

We will be returning to the ranch again as we truely had a fantastic time. It was quiet in the evenings, relaxing and when the weather wasnt raining me and my wife had drinks on the vernada which was nice as we could monitor the kids at all times.

YOU WONT GO WRONG GOING TO THE DAVEY CROCKET RANCH - GO THERE AND EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF DISNEY.

Just returned from 5 nights at Davy Crockett Ranch. We had one of the older cabins and it was fine. It was clean and in full working order, travelling with our 20 month old meant having the extra space and the ability to do some limited self catering was a real bonus. Breakfast was filling with baguette, brioche and croissants. Farm on site was small but enjoyed by our little girl and we enjoyed the pool, especially the hot tub bit and the little paddling pool as the main pool was quite cool and with the steps under water not easy to navigate with the little one. Disappointing that it seems no Disney characters visit the ranch at this time of year. We enjoyed a meal at the tavern one evening, with a wide choice at the buffet. Our character meal on the last night at Cafe Mickey in Disney Village was great. Make sure to book all these things as early as possible. The ranch was an easy drive to the parks and they were great fun, Saturday and Sunday at the parks were far busier than weekdays, I would try to avoid the weekend if coming again.
