“Wonderful weekend at Hackness”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

What a wonderful weekend again at Hackness. We stayed in January of this year and liked it so much we decided to return.
We stayed on the Autumn 2 night special deal , bed breakfast and evening meal.
The hotel is undergoing refurbishment, and the bedroom that we stayed in was comfortable , very clean and cosy.( number 31, in the court yard.)
Hackness Grange hotel is set in beautiful gardens and is the perfect place for a quiet weekend away .

Room Tip: The court yard rooms are cosy and only a short walk to the main house

As we drove towards Hackness Grange the late Autumn sun was shining on the hotel it looked lovely and as we arrived were greeted by Roger the owner who was more than happy to make sure we wanted for nothing. We were in a very warm room 11 it was clean and nicely presented with tea making facilities and a very good t.v I don't like uht milk but I only had to ask for fresh milk and it was there.
There is construction of a Conference Centre taking place which didn't affect us in any way this will be completed in early 2014 and will also hold Civil Weddings.WOW!!! what a fantastic setting for a wedding the gardens the lake the house everything you could wish for is there.A big thank you to Roger and his staff who were friendly and efficient and we look forward to making a return visit.

We had a lovely drive to the hotel along the Forge Valley and were not disappointed when we arrived. We checked in and our case was carried up to our room, no 10, and were very pleasantly surprised. I was very warm and clean with 2 comfortable chairs and we made ourselves a drink The bathroom, with bath and shower had a warm towel rail and soft towels and toiletries. By now we wondered if we had misread the review of room 10! Dinner was good with a varied choice. We finished off with coffee in the bar/lounge complete with open fire. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and lovely views of the garden and beyond. Staff were friendly and helpful. We look forward to staying here again.

We arrived quite late on, and still had a warm welcome, we were show to our rooms and when we opened the door we were amazed, very modern rooms (fresh smell of paint) so had been recently re-furbished, it was warm and really comfortable .. the size of the room was perfect, not huge or to small, we had a quick look around before going downstairs, the bathroom was clean, modern and had a choice of a bath or a shower, and also complementary shampoos & shower gel.
once downstairs we went into the sitting area, where there was a huge selection of beverages, alcoholic or soft drinks and reasonably priced. and again was clean and warm & had WI-FI access (free)
the staff were perfect .. really helpful, polite and didn't make a fuss.
once we had gone back to the room, the bed was really comfortable, there was TV with free-view. when we woke in the morning we went down to breakfast, where there was a selection of cereals or a cooked breakfast, a toaster to make your own toast & a selection of tea, coffee, apple juice or orange juice.
the cocked breakfast was brilliant, a good serving and really delicious along with some good fresh orange juice.

overall it was a lovely place to stay and we will defiantly return.
the views are amazing and because of where the hotel is situated a peaceful sleep is a definite!

Many thanks
Josh & Leanne

Set in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire this Hotel may appear slightly down at heel on first impressions but the new owners are refurbishing everywhere to a very high standard. So you have to look beyond the areas undergoing updating.
The room we stayed in was tastefully decorated, extremely clean and had amazing views across the lake to countryside. The total ambience of the hotel was one of warmth and safeness like having a big hug from a special person. We dined in the restaurant and the meal overall was good. The staff went out of there way to make you feel welcome and we left feeling good about the place and are looking forward to holding our daughters wedding there next year.

Had dinner in restaurant on Saturday night dining room lovely with oil paintings, mirrors & dim lighting
We had steaks for our main course Food well cooked with good portion sizes
Breakfast selection really good nice to be able to choose how many items you wanted on cooked breakfast
