Bastide Les Aliberts
Reviewed 10 August 2014

This truly was a dream holiday. My husband and I took our two young boys (4 and 6) to stay in the 'Batik' gite at Les Aliberts. We were treated so wonderfully by Monique and Pascal, from arranging our visit, to our arrival....seamless. Our gite was beautifully arranged, stylish and comfortable. The surroundings are breathtaking. I was lucky enough to paint whilst I as there and I MUST go back again soon to paint Les Aliberts in the autumn. If you are looking for a holiday where you want to relax...really relax in rural surroundings and be taken really good care of, this is the holiday for you!

From my first inquiry to Les ALIBERTS, I found responses timely and so helpful. Pascal and Monique were always there before and during our week's stay to assure us a dream adventure. Both are a wealth of information and ready to make a reservation any where you desire! The bastide is charming, well equipped and peaceful with mountain, gorge and vineyard views. With the large windows open, the breezes flow through the rooms providing fresh air and natural cool temperatures even in July! Fresh croissants and bread hang on your door each morning if you desire and wine and cheese on your terrace each evening is something to look forward to! The location is perfect...a five minute drive to the lovely Minerve (one of France's lovely villages) with a five star restaurant (we visited two times for dinner), shops, walls and an historical story that is both sad and intriguing. A large market on Tuesday is in another village about fifteen minutes drive from Les ALIBERTS...a must European experience. Carcassonne is a lovely thirty minute drive on roads that meander the vineyards...we visited this medieval city two times during our week. So, rent a car, communicate with Pascal and Monique and enjoy a French countryside week forever imprinted as a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Check the website...we had a three bedroom, two bath accommodation...not a hotel but a gite.

We stayed in the charming setting of La Bastide Des Aliberts, a 13th century fortified hamlet converted into five gites, set amidst vineyards, with a pool, and overlooking the canyon of the Cesse river and the Cathar fortress of Minerve. Our days at Les Aliberts began with freshly baked croissants and bread brought to our gite by the gently spoken Monique. Her homemade apricot preserve was in the fridge on our arrival, along with some welcoming provisions. Les Aliberts was a haven of tranquility and an ideal setting to get away from it all. Our gite was a great base from which to explore the beautiful Minervois region. Our hosts, Pascal and Monique, were charming and welcoming and were most helpful in every way, from making restaurant reservations to general advice what to see and do. We enjoyed a lovely get together the evening before our departure when we joined other guests for an aperitif in the main house. We highly recommend this medieval country house, complete with its two friendly resident dogs!

Just got back from a few days in Languedoc and staying in a fantastic place that I would call Paradise on Earth. The location of Alibert is on the hill with exceptional 360 degrees views including Minerve as well as Pyrennes.
The accomodation is spacious, arranged with a lot of taste and gives a feeling of serenity and harmony.
The gites are well equipped ,well heated so they can be used all year round.
It was too cold to use the swimming pool but I have profited from jacuzzi and steam room. You can also book a massage if you wish.
The autumn colours were magical and the hospitality and warmth of Monique and Pascal made the stay very, very special.

We have just returned to Dublin ,Ireland after four lovely nights spent here with Pascal and Monique as our hosts. They were so helpful and welcoming ,they gave us loads of local information regarding places to visit in the surrounding area . Carcasonne is approximately 40km away and that is a must see. There is a gorgeous outdoor pool where we sat each afternoon relaxing in the sun and swimming after returning from exploring some local village, vinyard or market . The place was so tranquil with only the sound of tractors harvesting grapes in the local vinyards. Minerve is a beautiful village just 1km away with a very interesting sad history ,some lovely restaurants . We would highly a trip to ''La Bastide Les Alberts'. Ryan air fly into Carcasonne on a Monday and return on Friday. A perfect short break.

A magical place to stay!!! The views are amazing and each Gite is totally private creating a very tranquil atmosphere. The pool area is just gorgeous with a spa and and a fabulous steam room for hours of relaxation. We weren't fortunate enough to meet Pascal as he was away but Monique was just wonderful, such a lovely person, nothing was too much trouble. The fresh croissants and fresh bread delivered to hang on your door every morning were delicious, a lovely touch! The atmosphere created here is so warm and welcoming and the gite provides everything you could possibly need and so beautifully fitted out. It's actually hard to put into words how much we enjoyed our stay and we hope to go back again soon and look forward to meeting Pascal , certainly a great sense of humour on the phone!!! We have been visitiing France from Australia for a few years now and have to say it's one of the best places we have stayed in.

Room Tip: All the Gites are lovely!

Our family stayed 2 weeks at Les Aliberts and were enchanted with it from the start. The scenery is beautiful and the gite was very well furnished and very comfortable. The pool area is very nice as are the grounds around Le Bastide. This place is made truly special by the fact that owners Monique and Pascal are the heart and soul of this place through their generosity, warmth and attention. We will happily return here as so many others do!
