Theva, being a small boutique hotel, will pamper you. The staff, led by the friendly manager Russel and his assistant Kaushal, supported by the able chefs and waiters, ensure that the stay will be memorable. They are all cheerful, which points to a happy workplace. We booked for one night and stayed for two.

Our room had a great view of the distant hills, and the sun set was especially memorable, with the town's twinkling lights coming on gradually.

The meals, although not inexpensive, were classy and served with cheer.

Don't be discouraged by the bad road that leads to the hotel. What awaits you more than justifies this minor inconvenience.

Theva is situated on the top of a mountain overlooking Kandy. The view alone is worth the twisty bumpy road up. We were unable to upgrade to the higher category room, but we were still very satisfied with our "deluxe" room. It had a wall of floor to ceiling windows, a comfortable bed, and all the amenities of a "western" hotel. We did have a problem with the shower on our first night, but that was immediately repaired. The food is EXCELLENT at Theva. Best breakfast I had on the whole trip (and we stayed a a 5 star Hilton right afterwards). Definitely try their 17-dish Sri Lankan curry dinner.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Superb and personal customer service the entire stay. The hotel does not offer driver accommodation (which I imagine is common in the area) so our driver had to stay elsewhere, but that was not a big deal. The decor in all of the rooms and common areas is very modern/spa/clean. Beautiful flowers everywhere. Very relaxing vibe. Overall I would highly recommend this boutique hotel.

Room Tip: reserve in advance - we reserved one month out and were not able to upgrade

This hotel was recommended to me by red dot tours as part of my trip to Sri Lanka in sept 2010

What a gem!

On the drive up the hill you wonder what you have done, but as soon as you enter the gates you realise this is something special.

The open restaurant area was truly breathtaking with some amazing views.

Our room had an open plan bathroom which was decked out beautifully.
We had a jacuzzi tub outside, which we did try to use but couldn't get the water working!

The view from the room was just as breathtaking as the restaurants view and we spent two full days here without leaving the hotel

Food was beautiful and whilst extreme mixture of tastes, I will never forget the chicken lemongrass skewers with orange, followed by a cake for our 1st anniversary.

We were treated really well and would recommend this to anyone!

I was came across with this hotel suddenly and planned a stay there with my wife. It was really nice and amazing place with very attracting surroundings. It was like you stay in another world. Truly amazing architecture elements was really stunning and we both enjoyed whole story there.

The staff is really helpful and food was great. I tried both western and Sri Lankan food.

No doubt of it Theva takes 10 out of 10 for everything.
