For best Kandy views, stay at this property. It is at the top of the hill and has excellent views of the valley from the room. The negative is that there is no wifi in rooms. This is an area which needs to be improved in most of Sri Lankan hotels. The room was well decorated though the shower area in the bathroom was small. The breakfast had many items but the staff at the restaurant was lethargic. I ordered an item at live counter and no body came to serve it. When I took it from the counter, it was already cold and not edible. There were hardly any guests but the staff did not bother to serve it on the table. The food had a local flavour in everything. The pool was clean and the depth of 8 feet on a hill really means something.

Room Tip: Ask for top level rooms for a better view.

You are welcomed with herbal tea, the location is amazing with an awesome view. Located on top of a hill which is around a 20 minute drive from the main city. The breakfast was sumptuous and the meals were good. Good landscaped garden.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms will get you a better view overall.

This is the place, if you want to spend your vacation in Kandy. Welcomed with an herbal tea, but I know that was coriander. 15-20 min drive from the city and the hotel built on top of hills with magnificent view from the room. From the Galaha junction to the hotel road is good condition too, you can easily drive yourself. Don't forget to select a room with the swimming pool view and view with stunning outlook on the valley and distant hills. Room was clean and perfectly arranged at the time of we arrived there. However, deluxe room little bit small comparing to other rooms in most of the hotels in Sri Lanka. Food was excellent, and you have millions of variations. However, you have limited selections of wine glasses and cocktails. So many variations on wine bottles, bit expensive. Dine-in room service is damn quick. Staff is good, but the response is too slow. I've to wait around 20min to get a cup of water on late night dinner at the main restaurant. That makes me angry a lot. Don't forget to have your dinner on outdoor terrace, close to the main restaurant. Make sure to reserve your table at the time of check-in or as early as possible. Check-in and check-out process is quite simple.

Room Tip: Deluxe room is excellent, select a one from the 2nd floor with swimming pool view. Request a queen bed. Some of the deluxe rooms have twin bed, which is not suite for a couple.

This hotel is out in the hills outside of Kandy, which is one if its greatest assets.
Be prepared for a 15-20 minute tuk tuk ride from the station up some hills that will test the tuk tuk's engine. We were staying for two days and after the tuk tuk ride and having checked in, decided we were more than content to spend about 44 hours at Amaya Hills.
The room was great, with a view over the valley, the staff were helpful and friendly, the pool was magic and the buffet breakfast was excellent.
The food is a little expensive but the portions are generous (we shared a few mains) and there are good Sri Lankan and Western options (if you need them).
The only blemish on our stay was that there were a series of weddings that took over the hotel from about 915am until the early afternoon. This was initially not a problem, seeing the wedding procession come through the breakfast area, but the terrible band blaring out off-key covers of western songs until early afternoon really made it difficult to enjoy the pool. I think the hotel should be more up front about this and warn guests about it when booking and offer to compensate guests for the inconvenience - a meal voucher or drinks voucher would at least go some way to acknowledging that not everyone wants to be an incidental guest at a Sri Lankan wedding while trying to enjoy their holiday.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room away from reception and were glad we did as it was away from a Sri Lankan wedding, which was quite noisy.
