Description: Nestling in a gloriously green woodland valley, two miles from Barnstaple, Broomhill is a stunning late Victorian hotel with a twist ... there is fantastic art everywhere. With an award-winning restaurant, contemporary art gallery and sculpture gardens displaying an eclectic collection of over 300 sculptures, Broomhill sits in 15 acres of magnificent wild woodland valley and beautifully cultivated gardens. Broomhill’s award winning Terra Madre restaurant subscribes to the ‘slow food’ philosophy with respect for authentic produce and local ingredients paramount to our offering ... pure celebration on a plate. Consisting of mainly Mediterranean cuisine inspired from our travels, and using fresh, organic, fair trade produce from neighbouring farms and the coast, the menu affords splendid choice and excellent value. Pre-booked, 3 course lunch and dinner is served in our intimate restaurant or Tapas and bar meals are served in the Gallery or on the sun-warmed terrace. We invite you to experience our blend of hospitality and passion, inextricably linked through art and food.

We ate lunch here one day in June 2014. The hotel is in a beautiful setting with the added interest of the sculptures in the garden and in the wider forested area. You need to book the restaurant because it is not large. We booked on-line and it went very smoothly. The fixed menu had a good selection and included a couple of quirky offerings. All our food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and helpful. We could not have asked for more as we also thought that the whole experience was excellent value for money, especially as you get free entry to the sculpture park when you are there for lunch.

We always prioritise a visit to Broomhill for lunch when we are in North Devon and have never been disappointed. Food, surroundings, service and value for money are all unsurpassed. The lunchtime menu comrpises three courses of locally source dishes all prepared according to 'slow food' principles. The dishes are imaginative, beautifully presented and invariably delicious. A walk around the spectacular sculpture gardens (included in the price) is a suitable conclusion to the most pleasurable of dining experiences. This really is a special place and fully deserves every success.

Very good meal out, with plenty of choice, especially for vegetarian options. At £15.95 for three courses it is also very good value.

4 adults, one baby - never heard of it- rainy day so booked lunch. The food was exceptional - 3 courses -fresh, imaginative, presented like an art work , Lovely friendly staff, our own little dining room surrounded by art work and lots of other rooms to see and all this for £10 because if you have lunch you get the entrance to the sculpture park free. We spent 3 hours wandering in this enchanted valley with the most extraordinary range of sculpture. Make sure you dont miss the 'Welcome to the Third Millenium and the sculptures in 2014 competition area. I would particularly recommend it to families with children and guarantee they would be spellbound as the adults will be. We will be returning.
