We randomly selected this pub as a meeting point and were very pleasantly surprised. The menu was varied and of a much higher standard than most pubs. The bouillabaisse was particularly good.

We did not stay here so cannot comment on the rooms.

Make a detour if you are in the area!

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting our son and daughter-in-law who live in Lynton.
The Inn is a little off the main road in a very pretty quaint village, which is at the bottom of a valley, with narrow lane going through.
It is the sort of pub, if you didn't know better, I think we would have driven past, but thankfully because of Trip Advisor we knew it was a hidden gem.
The young owners are delightful, very welcoming and friendly.
The rooms are very comfortable, and modern. We had two rooms, and our daughter's room (2) had a lovely view, of the river and the immaculate garden next door. Our room (3),was facing the road, and building opposite, and surrounding countryside which wasn't as pretty, but had a lovely bay window.
The breakfast choice is superb, and the full English was probably the best we've had, well done to the cook, piping hot and delicious!!
We had a meal in the pub on the Saturday night. The pub isn't huge, but it was packed, proving how popular it is with the locals, with most of the tables reserved. Lots of stuffed animals on display - and a huge stags head on the wall. The menu is on a board, with plenty of choice for fish lovers and red meat eaters. However, limited choice for veggies and nothing for my son who only eats poultry. But that was probably bad luck, as the staff said they sometimes have chicken dishes. The food was very good, and the lemon cheesecake I had for dessert was stunning!
Our room was spotless, with good quality bedding and furniture and decor. Nice touch to have good selection of toiletries in bathroom. Thank you also for the tin containing yummy flapjacks and shortcake. Simple extras, but make the difference between good and excellent.
Thank you, we will be back on our next visit to Lynton xx

A party of twelve of us (5 couples, 2 singles) ate on a busy Saturday night at this slightly strange pub.
The woodchip and artex on the walls was complimented by a gigantic stag's head and brass plates screwed to a wooden frame. The stuffed fox in a glass case completed the effect.
We had booked our table for 7.30 and if we had not, would probably have not been able to have found a table.
The 7 groups ordered separately, some having starters and mains and others just having starters. All the starters came out within a few minutes of each other as did all the mains although the sides took a little extra time.
The food was good, the Steak and Guinness pie was a pie rather than the usual bowl with a pastry top.
I did not see the wine list but in addition to commercial beers there were three local bitters which provided my liquid refreshment.
Second best of the three pubs we ate at during our stay.
Good food and service in a venue that could do with some tidying.

Our visit to The Fox and Goose was a wonderful experience. The room we had was outstanding. From the luxurious comfy bed to the under floor heated bathroom and walk in shower everything was great. We could make our own filter coffee, tea or hot chocolate to have with the freshly made homemade biscuits. What more could you want. We also ate in the pub which again you couldn't fault. Lovely atmospher, friendly staff and gorgeous food. You really must try it for yourselves.

First time at the F&G, parking a slight problem but the neighbours understand. The Fish Stew is almost as goon as any you will get France, the venison stew was amazing and the 6oz Burger was excellent. I had the Venison which was flavoursome and the potatoes that come to the table were probably the best I have eaten in a restaurant.

Full marks for staff they were attentive but not over the top, they were polite but not sickly, they also had a sense of humour which is a great trait.

Room Tip: You have to book
