We went to this hotel in August with husband and 14 year old son, as a last minute holiday. What a great choice. Location, facilities and food excellent. Mostly Russian and German people, which was good, as it it felt foreign. In a quiet area close to Alcudia( an hour's pleasant walk along the beach). The staff were very friendly, especially in the restaurant, where the waiters remembered our room number without telling them. Pool area very peaceful, no fighting for sunbeds at all.
Room excellent and great view. Hope to go back one day, although was expensive, being during the school holidays.

Room Tip: Corner suite had a long balcony with 2 sets of patio doors.

On arrival this is a very impressive looking hotel.

The favourable first impression continued with the reception staff who were incredibly helpful and our check-in was very smooth and efficient.

The rooms we had were clean and smart and well appointed. The maintenance could have been slightly better as we had to fix a leg on one of the beds and re-attach one of the wardrobe doors. Having done that we encountered no further room issues!

Breakfast is excellent andl lunch can be taken at the restaurant right by the pool. Dinner in the main restaurant is a buffet with a vast selection of food to suit most tastes and nationalities!

A slight downside was that there wasn't anywhere else to go very close to the hotel but having said that there is enough in the hotel to satisfy adults who just want a relaxing poolside / beach break.

However we did undertake one excursion during our holiday and that was to charter a boat that was advertised in reception. This turned out to be a 37 foot motor yacht, which although old, was in good order and the captain and his crew member looked after us exceedingly well. We had a superb cruise from Pollensa with lunch included. We were also transported to and from the hotel in the deal so all very amenable.

There was one poor event to report on during our stay and that was the one evening when we were offered dinner in the gourmet restaurant - poor food, poor service (not enough staff) and not much ambiance. Stick with the main restaurant, it was much better during our visit.

Some of the highlights of this hotel are the excellent service from the staff and the location of the hotel close to the beach. You literally walk through a gate a few metres down a walkway and you are walking on sand. When you have had enough of that stroll back through the gate and into the swimming pool.

Overall our stay here was very enjoyable. A fine hotel with comfortable rooms, an impressive building, good facilites, excellent food (apart from one incidednt noted above) and outstanding service.

The Good....

Stayed recently at the hotel on a half board basis. On arrival, the hotel looks impressive. The staff on the reception were very friendly and saw to our luggage straight away. We were checked in and offered a complimentary drink, which was a nice touch. Most of the hotel staff were extremely helpful and polite.

Our room was a suite without a sea view. It was on the rear of the hotel and next to the main road so we were a little concerned initially. However, we neednt have worried as there was little noise from the road and the balconies got the sun all afternoon, which was great in the evening.

The suite was large as you'd expect with a separate living area with kitchenette. The bathroom was also spacious with a bath and a separate walk in shower. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were always cleaned to a very high standard.

Pool area was very good. Decent sized pool with plenty area for sunbathing. Lots of sunbeds set around the pool with cover and some without. The beach is literally a stone's through away via a short path from the pool area.

Restaurant was pleasant and never seemed to get too busy. Plenty of choice on the buffet style menu each night so I never went hungry.

The Bad......

Our room was a little tired and dated. The kitchen must have been from the 80's and was not something you would expect of a 5 star hotel. The balcony had also seen better days as it was crumbling in certain areas. Not a major problem, but when you pay 5 star prices you expect 5 star facilities.

Minor annoyances were having to ask for items that should be in the room as standard such as an iron, tea and coffee facilities and having to pay for a safe. Electrics blew a few times when using the iron. Fortunately I was able to sort it by accessing the fuse box. Only 2 English speaking channels on the TV. Not a great problem for me, but could be an issue for others.

Food was in the main good, but not 5 star fantastic. There was sufficient choice, but a lot of the time, the food was unadventurous and safe. I understand buffet menu's can be like this,, but this is supposed to be 5 star..... it should be amazing.

The hotel entertainment was certainly not 5 star but I guess no hotel entertainment ever is.

The Average.....

The location of the hotel is ideal for the beach, but not so much the main part of the resort though there is a very good local bus service which runs every 15 mins past the hotel.

Playa de Muro is relatively quiet and didnt appear to have much going on. There were a limited amount of restaurants and very few bars. A journey up the coast to Old Town Alcudiia, Puerto Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa revealed much more. All of which were very nice.

In summary, the hotel is a good hotel with friendly staff and a great location. The hotel is advertises itself as a five star hotel, but I feel it falls short in a few areas. I gave it a three because four represents very good. Because of the money we paid and the expectancy we had, It was somewhere between average and good.

Room Tip: Suites on the back of the hotel get the sun from mid afternoon until sunset.

Had fantastic holiday 12 days. 6 people HB
Great food exceellent location and beautiful room. Lunch at pool bar with great variety and fantastic activities during the day with state of the art instructor - Alessandro. Every day Joga Pilatis, water gymnastic, Zumba fitness and mini Disco - another good reason to come again! Thanks Alessandro. Every evening 09:15 PM great entertainment and very professional shows.
we met many people that come each year again and again and we'll surely return next year. We were surprised and amazed about the bad feedback we read which are far from reality! It was just great holiday. Thanks again to all the friendly and great team and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Had originally booked a different hotel and we were therefore a bit unsure after reading some of the reviews on here. However, this last minute change of plan turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Many positives including that the food was certainly above the usual 4 star standard, especially the evening meal where some of the food was exceptional. Could always find beds around the pool but not always with an umbrella. Hotel was spotless. Next to a fabulous beach. Plenty of staff on hand who were always very helpful. Hotel included a mini club for children but our three children only used it once.

Only criticisms is that the main pool is a bit deep for children and perhaps a 5 star hotel should have more English language TV channels. However, you don’t go on holiday to watch TV!

I noted that one poster commented that they would have preferred to have had music playing around the pool, but to us this was one of the hotel’s attractions. I appreciate that this is very much a matter of personal opinion, but this added to the relaxing nature of the hotel. If you want music, listen to you own choice on an mp3 player.

Would say that it would not suit people looking for an active, lively holiday but it was ideal for us with a relaxing atmosphere and excellent food. We enjoyed it so much we are thinking about going back next year which is something we have never done before.

W hen I've read reviews of hotels that sometimes the contrast in peoples accounts makes me wonder if I went to the same place. Some of the recent reviews are no exception.
We were a family group of six, ages from 8 to 77 years. When we arrived luggage was immediately taken to our 3 rooms The reception was quick efficient and friendly. We were dealt with by a lady called PIROSKA. Saw her a few times during our stay enquiring about trips , etc. She was always very helpful and knowledgeable. Other staff members in reception, restaurant and around the hotel were also smiling and friendly. On arrival the entrance hall was spacious, cleancut with leather settees, plants and trees. We were offered a glass of champagne or orange juice. Our rooms were spacious, clean and we could see the sea from the side whilst standing but not leaning over balcony. I had already emailed hotel in advance asking for kettles and top floor rooms The beds were comfortable' giving a good nights sleep, with no adjacent room noise. 2 mirror fronted sliding wardrobe doors would not allow each to be opened at the same time. The hangers did not cater for hanging skirts or trousers. The bathroom, marble, bidet, bath with handheld shower.
However my view is that all 5 star hotels should have a walk in shower as well ,as not everyone can get into a bath! Sheets towels changed as and when required. Turn down service with chocs left. Clear glass door between bath area and toilet should be "frosted". Air con very efficient and quiet, needs to be when temperatures outside are well over 30 degrees.
There is a charge for a safe and no tea/coffee facilties which I agree should be standard in all 5 star hotels. Again T.V only sky news English channel. Enough for us though as dont watch T.V . on holidays. Our 8 year old did watch cartoon channels and wasn't bothered whether they were in spanish or german.!! There were no face flannels, but toilettries were fine.
Hotel is in a quiet area, excellently placed opposite beach. Sea with shallow water and warm, yes warm! You have to pay for a parasol and loungers, 10 Euros a day, not a rareity on other beaches. If you dont want to pay ,do what some others did, arrange a makeshift shade. Don't blame the hotel , it's not "their beach or parasol'etc.
The swimming pool fine, not overcrowded, plenty of loungers, but poolside drinks are expensive! However again the pool is warm.. We, too, did not see any wasps in childrens pool.
Restaurant, plenty of food, but not to everyon's taste, although I would say that you would be very unlikey not to find something to your choosing. The breakfast had cold, hot fayre plus food also cooked to order. Dinner, again, lot of choice, but as a fish vegetarian would have liked to have seen grilled salmon and seabass on menu more than once each. Food labelling
had a couple of noticed errors Soup incorrectly marked as vegetable soup, but was fish soup and another shown as minestrone, but was tomato and basil. Relatively small problems, but a main course marked as vegetable lasagne was in fact meat. The labels were changed when pointed out. Plenty of dessert choices, even had plain jelly on a couple of nights, something not seen often. Evening entertainment not anymore than average, although remarks are always compared with what you have experienced at other hotels in aother countries. Never went beyond 10.15 when we were there.. Children enjoyed participating and so did some adults.
Outside hotel you can walk for about a quarter of a mile and reach souvenir shops, restaurants, etc. You can continue this walk for virtually as far as you like although the shops etc do become repetitive. A 2 euro ride willtake you to A lcudia, bus stops outside near hotel as do coaches if you want to visit the caves, Palma, etc.
All in all we enjoyed our stay, it wasn't top of the range of 5 star we have visited, but the Palace de Muro does have its own charm!

Room Tip: Top floor side sea view rooms
