“wonderful holiday - superb location - highly recommended”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2011

Friendly staff - wonderful location right on the beach. We arrived late in the evening to a warm and friendly welcome. The hotel had saved us a cold supper\bottles of water in the restaurant. Our rooms were clean, modern and what you would expect from a four star hotel. The location of this hotel is why we met so many repeat guests. The pool\gardens flows right onto the sandy beach and the crystal clear sea is shallow right until the end of the pier and perfectly safe for my family (3 boys age 6-12). The hotel entertainment throughout the day was very enjoyable, led by Mart - a dutch pro with many years experience. My boys enjoyed both the miniclub\disco and the daily boules\archery\darts\water polo etc. \i also enjoyed a couple of hours in the adult only spa - bliss! The evening entertainment was slightly more low key than we like with a couple of shows and the rest of the evenings filled with live bands. The English are in the minority here, with many Germans\Russians\Austrian\Scandinavian guests which made a good mix and we made many friends from other countries. This did lead to the food being not quite as good as we expected (lots of stew type dishes and german sausages) but the vast range available should satisfy the most fussy of eaters. Having stayed at the nearby Maritimo (another Grupotel) we are very impressed by this chain of hotels and will be looking for another one for our future holidays. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Pool view rooms get the afternoon sun but are more noisy with the evening entertainment. The other...

Hotel was nice but rooms were small. We stayed in the apartments 2 which were just big enough, kitchen area was small and no kettle was provided.
We had young children so used the smaller of the two pools which was warmer than the big one and not as deep.
Beach was great, very shallow and great sand. €8.50 for a shade and two beds.
Food in the hotel was varied and decent quality every night. Any requests made to the staff were very promptly dealt with.
Free beach towels were nice but had to be up early to get a bed of choice (bless the Germans)
Restaurants near the beach were not anything to write home about which was a shame.
Perfectly nice and adequate hotel in a lovely location.

When we booked the with Thomson we asked for a English hotel, turns out that this is a mainly German hotel, but that didn't matter, everyone was very nice and polite.

There were a few very rude Russians, but where ever you go, Russians seem to be very rude.

Beach is great and only 50yrds away from the hotel, but you have to pay 8 euro per day hire. Unless you are up at 7am, you have no chance of getting a hotel sun bed, these are taken by other guests(German)

There are 2 x pools, the big one is lovely, but cold, even in August. We used the little pool that doubles as the indoor pool in the winter. It was less busy and you could get a sunbed.

Rooms were very clean and perfect for a 2 week stay. The safe costs 20 euro to hire per week. Beds changed daily.

Food is very good, and according to my wife, puddings were better.

The surrounding area is nice, you must go to the "Swan" English bar, the owner is really funny and does a free Bingo every night with various other events such as snail racing, Repltile show etc.

Overall a lovely place.

Room Tip: I asked for rooms away from Pool, they were quieter

First things first:
The hotel is in a wonderful position in Playa de Muro, the grounds are immaculate and the staff are absolutely faultless in their hospitality, in fact they are probably the most friendliest people we have ever come accross, top marks! Although we were self-catering, we had breakfast in the main restaurant a few times, which was excellent. They had a great selction of food and all well cooked and well presented, not swimming in grease etc! The beach and sea are among the best i have been to in Europe, wonderful soft sand and the clearest sea, that shelves so gently that you have to walk about 300 yds to get up to your waist!
I booked my wife some spa treatments, which were fantastic and a great facility.
I read in many reviews that the hotel was full of Germans although, when we were there this June is was full of miserable, self centred Swedes. But you will still have to get up early to get a sun bed! we chose to pay and use the beach beds, much nicer down there anyway!
My minor gripes or negatives would be the following:
The pool is situated by the side of the car park and coach terminus, which takes the holiday feel away from it, it is uniteresting in its design and layout, not well utilised and a bit of a dead donkey if you aks me!
The restaurant does not open at baby friendly times in the evening, we were forced to eat in the tacky local "restaurants" that are open all day, if your little ones can wait till 6:30 then this will not be a problem for you. But the Albufera (not sure if that is the correct spelling) steak house was really nice and thoroughly recommendable.
This brings me on to the restaurants, i am always miffed as to why they want to serve frozen vegatables bland meat and always accompanied with chips, someone, one day, has to tell them that we don't eat chips with everything and we like fresh produce, other than a tomatoe and iceberg lettuce leaf!
We went self catering and were "shoved" up by the main road in "Los Principes 2", i hadn't seen this part of the hotel in any of the promo literature, however, despite it being a bit noisy by the main road and a little bit dank due to the large trees, we loved the little communal garden, and the shade the trees provided. However, the kitchen is impracticaly small for real cooking and none of the local supermarkets sold any fresh vegatables to speak of, apart from potatoes and tomatoes and the odd onion! Which is a shame when you want to have a variety of healthy/fresh food!
So, all in all a wonderful holiday albeit, with the little one, we would probably choose the Iberostar down the road next time, which looked much more children friendly and had a much more interesting lagoon pool.

Arrived early evening, reception efficient, room average, not what I'd expect from 4 star accommodation, sofa bed cushions had mildew stains on them and generally the room was 'tired' looking. Weather was cold for the time of year and the heating didn't work. Restaurant was ok if you liked German style food, fish or pork otherwise prepare to live on chips and pasta, very little vegetable options on the evening meal. Again restaurant furniture 'tired' mismatched tablecloths chipped cups, plates sometimes not particularly clean, but the staff were efficient and friendly. Fairly large hotel, but they only have one outside pool, which has pine trees around which leave a lot of pine needles around the pool which in a week as far as I could tell, were only cleared away once. They have a covered heated pool, but it is very small and tends to be used by parents with small children. If you want a hotel right on the beach, you will not get one much closer than this. The week we went to this hotel the weather was awful, be warned if you go to Playa de Muro and the weather is bad, be prepared to have to travel away from resort to find anything to pass the time. Playa de Muro is lovely when the weather is the same!

This was a typical Alcudia holliday and if we assume that the place was very much as expected. The place is best for those who like swimming in the sea, sandy beach, good food and take a tour to explore the island by oneself.

Accomodation was nice, but we expected more for 4 stars hotel (Los Principes appartmans). Cleaning was not the best, more like basic. Thou, the appartments are in a good state. Traffic was embarrassing, but we used to it soon. There are dubble windows in the rooms. Important: Don't forget some mean against mosquitos! There are plenty of those as some smaler lakes are near the area.
Food was prima. We haven't finde any negativ critic. Someone wrote - a bit warm at the rastaurang, but it is not at all unpleasant. The hotell stuff was kind and full of hospitality.

There was two computers in the main hall, but expensive - about 1 e for 15 min.

Location was ok. Buss transport is well developed. Tickets were cheap.

The beach was as it was in the pictures - long sandy beach, with ground water long into the sea. The seawater was cristal clean, with much fish, what confirmed the quality of marina life in the sea. The water temperature was ideal.

The most negative thing for us was very comercial surrounding, with "plastic" pubs and restaurang with no charm. Therefore we took a trip to the nearby old town of Alcudia, 15 min drive from the hotel. If you are not about to spend evening at the pubs and drinking all the time, it is better to take outings and explore this marvellous island on your own.

Have a nice holliday!
