Stayed here because of its location (right on the beach) and wasent disappointed. We were the only Irish couple in the hotel and there were very few English people staying, perhaps 8-10. This was not a problem as staff were great, the best i have encountered in any hotel. Food was great with a wide and varied seceltion and all good quality. Entertainment was top class every night, again the best I have encountered in any hotel. Despite a big crowd in the Bar /entertainment area at night the waiter service was good. Bedrooms were as you get in most spainish hotels, clean and comfortable but nothing special. Good selection of TV channels on flat screen TV in room. All in all a very enjoyable experience. I counted that it was 26 steps from my sunlounger in the garden area of the hotel to the beach and a further 25 steps to the sea, bliss.. Try it you womnt be disappointed.

Let me start out by saying that my wife and I stayed at the Apartment complex next to the hotel. We stayed there 4 nights so we had a real great feel for the hotel and it's staff.
I will break down each part of the hotel for you.

First off, overall I would give this hotel a 9 out of 10.

Apartment- The apartment its self was very clean and spacious. Large bedroom and living room. Balcony that over looked the ocean which was absolutely breathtaking. Every night falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing is unbelievable. The cleaning staff did an excellent job cleaning the apartment. They even get rid of every grain of sand that we had tracked in from the beach to our apartment. It was really nice. Kitchen was well equipped and the TV had plenty of channels in English and German. I give the apartments an overall 8 out of 10. Loss of points because the beds could have been comfortable.

Meals- My biggest complaint has to be the meal situation. Since we were staying there a little bit before peak season our Apartment building was not fully staffed and the dinning room was closed. Sooo here's the rub. We had to eat our meals that were part of the half pension in not the hotel, which was right next door, but in the other apartment buildings restaurant at the other end of the complex. This restaurant was about a 10 minute walk from our apartment to the restaurant. Doing that twice a day was quite annoying.
The food itself was about 7 out of 10 in quality and 9 out of 10 in selection.
The food was tasty, some dishes better than others, but the variety was great. Always something different to eat every night. My wife even enjoyed being a picky eater and a vegetarian. The only other issue is that drinks were not included with dinner. So you had to pay for water, wine or beer. (anywhere from 2-5 euros). The staff there was great though. They were so attentive. I had breakfast there the first day and asked for soy milk. Every day after that I came in and the staff recognized and brought me over a glass of soy milk without me even asking. All done with a smile. It was a really nice touch.
Overall thought, I would recommend, if possible, buy the half pension for a few days and cook for yourself for a few days to have a happy medium.

The staff was by far the most amazing part of our stay. I've heard a lot of people stay if they didn't speak German they had a terrible time. My wife and I are from NY and have been living in Berlin for 2 years. So our German is pretty good but not great. About 25% of the staff spoke English but they almost seemed relieved to have someone besides German's staying there. They were all so nice to us. Whenever we did any of the activities, quiz, bingo, bocce, they always spoke in German and English. There was always so much to do if you didn't want to sit on the beach all day(which was literally right off the hotel's property.

My wife and I payed tennis one day on a nice court on the complex. That was extra but it was only 6 euros for 2 rackets, balls , and the court for an hour! So it really is a steal.

So Staff and activities get a 10 out of 10!

The spa was great. They give you one free pass per guest to use the spa when you arrive but we wanted to go again so we just asked and they gave us more passes. No questions asked. The spa had 3 saunas a hot tub, and a larger pool with jets and showers. Really great place to relax especially after biking the whole day.
Spa gets an 8 out of 10

Lastly the location. It is kind of far from anything, but you have everything you would need right there. Bike rentals, a national park across the street with great wildlife and views, the beach. And there is a bus to Alcudia right outside the hotel. There are also supermarkets right across the street. But we found it that the difference in price between those and the supermarket in the hotel complex was not much.
Location in proximity to citiy and night life 6 out of 10. Location in proximity to Beach and other activities 10 out of 10.

Overall, don't hesitate to stay here. I can understand if you don't spoke any German it may be a bit frustrating. But we in no way felt as though the staff looked down at us for not being German. In fact we felt the opposite.
Be advised about 40% of the hotel guest are German families and about another 30% are retirees. So if you can't stand children or the elderly don't stay here. But as a couple in our late 20's we didn't mind it at all as we could keep to ourselves and have a peaceful stay.

Thank you Hotel Esperanza for a great stay. Special thanks to you entertainment crew who were friendly and courteous.

We stayed here for two weeks in September, 2010 (8th-23rd)--not the height of the tourist season. Most of the staff spoke enough English for basic needs to be met easily. They seemed to know more German and it seemed like there were more German tourists staying there. Perhaps because it's only a few hours from Frankfurt?

The hotel is right on the beach and is part of a complex of 3 properties owned by the same woman, Esperanza. According to her, her father named the property after her and she took over when she became an adult. She and the rest of the staff are hardworking, dedicated individuals who run a very efficient and clean establishment. We didn't like our first room and they moved us after a few days.

We paid extra for the 'half-board' which meant breakfast and dinner buffets each day we were there. This was a good choice for us as the local restaurants nearby were not that compelling and the choices on the buffets were pretty amazing and included lots of unusual local foods that were worth trying. The food was all good and the buffet style allowed us to try local specialties without having to commit to eating them if we didn't like them. We could go back as many times as we liked and the variety was excellent. There was always a well-stocked salad bar, lots of vegetables, soups, pasta, cheese, breads, desserts, etc. Almost too numerous to mention. The breakfasts were also amazing and frequently included champagne and caviar for no extra charge. The view from the dining room was of the sea and the mountains in the background, depending on where one sat. Being right on the beach (not separated by any roads to cross) was also a big plus to me. We could just eat breakfast, wander onto the beach, hang out and swim or read or stroll down the beach. There is also a windsurfing concession on the beach about 50 feet from the hotel. The equipment looked pretty simple, but it would be a great place for a beginner to try if they wanted due to the on-shore breeze and small waves. Not a big area to sail in though for a more experienced person. There was also a place nearby to rent bikes and the island is a popular place for training for the Tour de France, so we were told. We rented bikes and road in the nature preserve nearby, but friends rented bikes and road into Alcudia several miles away.

We used the bus system to get into Alcudia and Pollensa and didn't have any difficulties. The bus stop is about 40-50 feet outside the front door of the hotel. The old town of Alcudia is definitely worth the trip , think Roman walled old city with charming places to have a beer or sandwich. The 365 steps at Pollensa and the beautiful houses and views from the top were definitely worth the trip. I loved seeing the old parish church in Pollensa. The chapel at the top of the steps was not much to look at, but the views were lovely on the walk up the steps and from a lookout at the top.

My only complaints for this place would be the nightly entertainment, the hotel lobby and bar decor and the lack of wireless in the rooms.

The nightly entertainment was right outside the building which effectively meant if you wanted a room with the best ocean view (about half of the rooms I would guess) you were going to hear it until it stopped around 11 pm. If you wanted to move to the other side of the building for a quieter room, they would do that if it were available, but the views are then either the street or a swimming pool and neighboring hotel. On the other hand, if you are into the entertainment, it is free and you can enjoy it from a large area set up with comfortable chairs and tables as you watch the ocean and the stars with the palm trees swaying. They will serve drinks out on the terrace as well, so by the end of our stay, we just decided to embrace it and enjoy a few drinks outside with friends as the bands played on. There is also wireless available in the bar and outside on the terrace and for a few feet out near the pool. The connection is not super fast, but fast enough for me to keep up with work emails and to skype family from time to time. One of our party was able to watch a football game online with no apparent difficulties. Just wish we could have had access in our room.

My issue with the decor was simply that it appeared to be mis-matched marble and other materials thrown together. Not that big of a deal considering how much we enjoyed the place otherwise and not that uncommon in my experience traveling in the caribbean. Maybe it's just an island thing? At any rate, by the end of the stay we felt very satisfied with this choice and hope to come back someday.

Just returned home after a lovely time at this hotel and felt if anyone was thinking wheather to book here or not -- just go. We had a sea view room which overlooked the gardens which are quite extensive with palm and pine trees, pool, plenty of sunbeds and a walk through to a great, fine sandy beach and a fantastic bay.

Rooms-- Not huge but good size with enough storage space, good lighting and settee, TV with 8 english channels, large patio doors to balcony with wicker chairs and table, empty fridge for you to use, room safe, key hire £1-70 per day, worth it for peace of mind . Bathroom on the small side but good shower plenty hot water and everthing spotless. The only niggle here was if the next room had tv on loud you could just about hear it but it won't put us off going again.

Food-- Buffet breakfast and dinner which you could take inside or on the terrace overlooking the sea. Plenty to choose from hot or cold, meat, fish or vegetarian and lovely desserts, cheese and fresh baked bread or biscuits , you would be very hard to please if you could find nothing to your taste.

The hotel has a good Spa, sauna, hydro pool etc. and an indoor warm pool.

Last but by no means least the staff were fantastic from reception to waiting staff to cleaners, nothing seemed to be too much trouble, so a big thank you to all for a memorable time .

The most visitors were German but we generally find they only stay at the best hotels several we spoke to had visited over many years.

The hotel is in a quieter area but there were supermarkets and usual shops etc nearby if you wish to see thje whole area a car is handy but buses stop outside.

A great hotel.

We selected this hotel because of the reviews, rating and its proximity to the Albufera Reserved (opposite!). We stayed for a fortnight and did not find time to use all the facilities.

The staff were efficient and most were friendly. The evening entertainment held in the outdoor or indooor bars was not intrusive elsewhere in the hotel.

Plenty of sunloungers, even the Germans gave up getting up at dawn to reserved them. Extensive grounds clean with plenty of bins.

The buffet meals were good with plently of local recipes. Plenty of room betwen tables, new layout? Plates were cleared at breakfast as we went which is not always the case in Spain.

With 300 bedrooms and potentially between 600 and 900ish guests it was still possible to be private if one wished.

We would rate the hotel as just about 4*

A great holiday in a superb 4 * hotel. Forget the negative reviews, this is a top holiday hotel with great food, good sized rooms, and excelent service.
The location is quite a way out of the main resort of Port of Alcudia, but fantastic if you want a quiet holiday and don't want numerous bars on the doorstep. The only amenities adjacent are a couple of supermarkets and a small shopping centre.
The beachside location means no roads to cross over, and the area of beach outside the hotel is peaceful and relaxing.
I would recommend paying a little extra and ordering a sea view room, as some of the other rooms overlook a busy road . The room we had was south facing and overlooked the fabulous Alcudia bay. Contrary to other posters on this site, I did not find the rooms to be small at all. They were perfectly adequate for 2 adults, and even an extra single bed would have been accomodated easily.
Food was top notch, with 2 sittings for buffet dinner. You keep the table allocated to you on arrival and enjoy the personal service from the same waitresses each night. They are mostly friendly and will try to converse, although their second language is German rather than English, due to the amount of visitors from Germany, Switzerland, etc.
Entertainment is pretty standard fare, with tribute bands, magicians, etc. Nothing to write home about, but good enough to pass an hour or two during the evening.
Thoroughly recommended unless you want to swap tales with other Brits about your day - you can't since there are very few who holiday in this hotel. This was not a concern for us, and everyone seemed to get on together, no matter what their nationalities.
All told, this is a wonderful holiday hotel with every amenity you could want. It most certainly deserves it's 4 * rating.

Spent a week at this hotel with other family members (many of whom have been here before),and although the grounds are stunning and the proxemity to the beach is good, there were certain aspects that came as a disappointment.
This is a very cosmopolitan hotel,if you get my drift,so don't expect english to be the first language at reception(who were pleasant enough when communications were established) but I found that the rooms (apart from family rooms) were small for a four-star.
The restaurant was a let-down,especially on the food stakes, and navigating your way around the place was 'interesting'.
The entertainment,in the main, was good but unless you were on 1st sitting for dinner you hadn't a chance of getting a decent seat.
All- in -all, a decent enough hotel, which is entirely family-orientated,but a bit of a let-down for me.
