Food was good and good service. Had a view of the ocean and it was beautiful. Had a problem with the laundry and management was not responsive at all. Laundry ruined about $250 in clothes but putting them in a very hot dryer. I asked that I not pay for the laundry and was told that I didn't want it ironed??? Not customer friendly. I tried to send an email when I returned home and it would not go thru. Clothes are not fixable

I have not written a review for Tripadvisor before but we were so impressed with this hotel that I felt I had to comment.
We have just returned from a fantastic weeks holiday at Hotel Playa Esperanza and have to say that, having visited Majorca many times, this hotel is one of the best. The reception staff were great with a very efficient and friendly check in. Nothing too much trouble. Our room was on the 6th floor and had great sea views. Previous reports mention poor mattresses but we had brand new beds and the bathroom was particularly modern having a large walk in shower.
We soon realised that the hotel and indeed the resort of Playa de Muro are almost entirely occupied by Germans. Something we had not encountered before. Don't let this put you off. We were pleasantly surprised at how warm and friendly they were. No towels out on sunbeds in the morning was a refreshing change! The setting and grounds of the hotel are truly stunning with so many sunbeds and sunshades beautifully spaced out. There was never a problem in finding the perfect sunbathing spot with loads of room to move your sun lounger in and out of the sun throughout the day. The beach is beautiful and so lovely to be able to stroll between beach and pool with no steps.
At check in you are asked if you would like first or second sitting for dinner and this becomes your set time. On our first evening we were offered the choice of dining inside or out on the terrace. We wisely chose the terrace and were given a beautifully positioned table with lovely views of the sea. This is your set table for your stay. We found this to be extremely clever as there was never a rush for dinner to find a table and you got to know your waitress and guests around you. Our bottle of wine and still water would be waiting for us, no hassle with finding a wine waiter here. The food was also of a very high standard. I don't remember ever seeing a whole fillet of beef being served from a chefs table before and it was exceptional. The beauty of dining on the terrace is that you can linger and watch the evening entertainment from your table if you wished.
The entertainment was also very good. The entertainment staff do a great job in the day time. There are no noisy microphone announcements encouraging you to get off your sunbed and all is beautifully quiet. The pool by the apartments has music playing and is noisier but the grounds are so large that you can't hear it. In the evening, again there were no multilingual announcements to annoy you. The children were well catered for and then the main show began at 9:30. We particularly enjoyed Chinese jugglers, River Dance, Adelle tribute act, an amazing magician and the entertainment teams performance of Mama Mia was just brilliant.
I congratulate the manager and hotel staff on what is an exceptionally well run, friendly hotel. This is a hotel we will definitely return to.

Big, clean and beautiful hotel, good food and nice service. Service staff should be more fluent in English though. Went there 21.-28.May this year (2014). The stuff was very polite and nice. But no music, not by the pool, not in the evening at the dinner room. I missed music most of the time being on that vacation. Even in the TV there was not any music channel! The weather was ok. But weird was, that the hotel was stuffed with german retired people. :) Many old people and no fun or party feeling. Quiet and polite hotel.

Room Tip: Not by the stage, where will perform artists and singers every evening at 21.30.

Well where to start.!.Have just enjoyed a 3 day break at the Playa Esperanza at the playa de Muro.
We were greeted by the multi lingual receptionist. Most of the staff were speaking at least 2 languages.I am british ,my husband French and my sister in law French. Many of the guests were german but they speak english well and my sister in law speaks german.Language was never a problem. We had a top floor apartment in the hotel so we could share with our own privacy.ie bathroom and balcony each. All round sea view which was to die for.Waking up each morning to the sound of the sea and the sun rising in the sky.The service in all areas was great.Beds comfortable ,rooms clean and hey the towels fit around the body and I am no liitle woman.
The food and dining area was great.Plenty of choice.Tasty freash food at all times.Bright fresh dining room ,lovely clean fresh utensils ,cloths etc.Another plus was your dirty plates were removed quickly so you had space for the next course.Staff were polite cheerful and again spoke bits of different languages.
Beach was clean with plenty of room,as was the pool area.Pool Bar was ok but the cooked chicken let them down at one lunch time.!!The rest of the meals were fine.
Evenings were ok.Entertainment not too bad for hotel life.Kids entertainer made the kids happy .Service in the bar area again was very good .The staff work very hard all over this hotel.I found no corner cutting.
I came home feeling very relaxed and will go back very soon. Will try to get the same room.

Room Tip: We had room 3616 on the 6th floor.Would not recommend for children or people who do not like heights but for the rest it is quiet and roomy .Fantastic views all around and the sun to wake you each morning.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your nice feedback after your stay in our Hotel Playa Esperanza.

It's very rewarding for all of us to read that you enjoyed all the aspects of the hotel including the location, but we regret very much that the served cooked chicken at the pool bar was not what you expected. I will forward your comment to the Food & Beverage Director in order to improve it.

Please visit us soon again, we would be happy to welcome you in our Hotel.

Best regards from Playa de Muro

This is very well presented and efficiently run hotel. Its now part of a larger complex which has direct access to a good sandy beach and its own excellent leisure facilities. Its size means you don't get the more cosy and personal touch of the smaller family run hotels but nothing was too much trouble for the staff I had contact with.

It seems very popular with sporty types - cyclist heaven with on site facilities for storage, repairs, hire of top quality cycles and equipment, route maps and guides. The cycle lanes are wide and safe. The vast majority of guests were German or Swiss and much of the information is provided in German but all staff spoke English and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.

The food was plentiful and delicious with a huge variety of choice for breakfast and dinner. You will not go hungry as long as you are prepared to try dishes which aren't typically English. All food was well cooked and presented. The dining area gets busy and the buffet layout means you have to be a little patient waiting for the more popular dishes but the staff constantly top everything up and nothing seemed to ever run out.

You will be allocated a table and a time for evening meal on your first night which will remain yours for the rest of your stay - the 8pm-9.30pm slot was best for making the most of the day and then having time for a drink or two afterwards. You pay extra for all drinks at dinner.

The room was spacious , immaculately clean and comfy without being luxurious. The shower room ensuite was good sized and the water hot. The balconies comfortably fit two and have high enough divides to have reasonable privacy.

Overall for a big hotel complex this is an excellent and relatively quiet base for wildlife lovers and birders exploring the north east of the island. The nature reserve is 5 minute walk and buses run every 15minutes up to Pollenca and the Boquer Valley.

Room Tip: Any birdwatchers should ask for an upper floor (6th floor) overlooking the nature reserve. Bit further away than it used to be with the new development opposite but still good views of the marsh and mountains beyond for herons, egrets, harriers, eagles and other birds moving through. Bring your Scope!!!! Also you get the evening sun on that side which is nice for relaxing on the balcony at the end of the day.
