This hotel was a result of the previous recommendations on Trip Advisor whcih i'm glad to say were extremly accurate.

Having just returned from a weeks holiday (21st July 2010) i can only write about a positive experience of this hotel. Having never visited Majorca or an Iberostar Hotel i can now understand why A) Majorca is a good family location and B) why this hotel obtains high reviews. From the moment we arrived the greeting was friendly and welcoming, having two children aged 8 and 5 it was important that they had plenty to do. The pools are large, safe and clean with a beach only a 3 minute walk through the pool area this hotel will take some beating. From the extensive Breakfast to the relaxed and high quality restaurants the food was fantastic - My only recommendation was that with two large supermarkets ONLY 2 minutes away we only booked a bed and breakfast rate which for us was ideal - with the choice of 7or 8 restaurants near the supermarkets we found that food and drink provided by these establishments to be also excellent - and the Euro proved to be very competitive. We stayed in room 4121 but 4122 or 4123 would be fine as these rooms had pool view along with outside balconys that overlooked the evening entertainment which proved a real bonus for the children. I must state these shows were excellent with a different show every night.

In conclusion a great location, stunning hotel with a high quality approach. I would highly recommend to a family with young children that wants a great location that offers what you expect for a reasonable price.

This was our first family trip within Europe (we are from US, but in Europe for work). The hotel is very nice and clean, recently remodeled. However, we immediately had an issue - the room had almost no actual seaview, because of the trees (we paid for seaview). Separate bedroom had enough room, but the beds were terrible - 2 twin beds put together, partially on wheels. Definitely, not set up for normal active couples. Cleaning ladies did a great job. My older daughter loved Maxi Club (she is 10) and had a lot of fun. The beach is also very nice. Pool area is crowded with sunbeds, no privacy at all (again, keeping my American mentality) and German/British tourists reserve them so early in the morning that we could never get a decent spot. They continued to do so, despite of the hotel issuing a note in several languages, stating no sunbed reservation allowed. Otherwise, after working in Germany for 2 years, we have gotten used to german tourists being quite unfriendly and sometimes rude. Buffet was very nice and varied for dinner almost every night. We had half-board accomodations, but would definitely go for all inclusive next time, just not to worry about paying for every drink.

Was delighted with these apartments. They are very spacious. Our parents stayed in the "Playa" and whilst the Playa is plusher, the apartments very spacious and up to date. Couldnt fault the maids & cleanliness of the place (seen them brushing the patio roof a few times!!) We had apartment 2123 which to begin with, we were disappointed with as it appeared to have no view apart from some gardens & then a car park to the beach. However we used this to our advantage on the 2nd week, and whilst our kids (2&3) were having a siesta, we were able to sunbathe on the grass right outside our room. Our room also had a bath (some apartments didnt so it would be worth requesting this if you have an infant) There seemed to be lots on families in block 2 so maybe this is also where all the rooms with baths are....Also in this block you get no noise from the evening entertainment which is great when you are putting the kids to bed.
The entertainment team were great & the kids enjoyed lolly & pops mini-disco. What I liked most about the hotel is that there were loads of kids so I wasnt panicking if my 3 year old threw a tantrum in the restaurant becuase it would be very likely that another toddler was throwing one too!!! I would say you better stay in the hotel if you want to be more away from children.
The swimming pools were great by the apartments too, with beach like slopping entraces to the pool (didnt have these in the playa pool) Also lovely shallow baby pool. The kids park was good too (contstantly shaded).
The beach lovely - you have to pay for sunlongers which I thought would have been free (€8.50 for 2 loungers & umberella). The nearest supermarket is very close by & the report of Playa de Muro a few minutes walk....There is also a train called the Muro express which takes you around the resort which the kids loved.
I booked with Thomas Cook & although their brochure "holidays with style" says that you will be 1st or 2nd coach drop off, we were actually 2nd to last & our parents (who came for the 2nd week) were also 2nd to last drop off. I asked the rep on the coach & he said the hotel would never by 1st drop off becasue it is near to the coach depot. It took us over 2 hours to get from Airport to hotel. We got taxi back to the airport (arranged by reception) for 4 adults & 2 children (it was actually 20 seater bus) and included baby seat & toddler seat for €90 & only took 45 minutes. Would definatley do this again...
I would go again, maybe a little later in the season as although we had good weather, we did have 2 or 3 cloudy days.

We moved here following a delay due to the volcanic ash. The hotel complex is large and well maintained. The room was contemporary in style and had a very good bathroom - overall did warrant a 4 star rating. The beach is literally just beyond the hotel and there were two large outdoor pool complexes (though was too cold to test !). The indoor pool was a touch on the small size and 'spa' like in style.

On the negative side we had a problem with the hot water that was fixed and then stopped working again and there was no feedback from reception on the progress with the repair. The wifi at 7 euro per hour was in my opinion a little expensive - handy tip we went to the Eden Playa close by and they had free wifi. The hotel is a little way from the main restaurants/shops but there were some of these next door (though many still shut for winter).

Overall a good quality hotel close to the beach.

This review is a comparison between the Iberostar hotels in which we stayed last year (Exagon) Ca'n Picafort and Albufera Playa de Muro which are not far apart . We went AI both times.

I travelled with my wife and 8 year old daughter between 8th - 21st August. We loved the Iberostar experience (first time) last year with its mix of relaxation, near by quality restaurants and excellent kids club.

The Albufera has in my opinion more of a 'wow' factor than the Exagon but scratch underneath the glossy surface and it did not prove value for money (about £1,000 more for 13 nights)

Firstly what was better at the Albufera;

Parasols with every sun bed
Rooms, gardens not as tired looking
Swimming coaching - our daughter gained her silver badge and was a real highlight!
The bed rooms were bigger and nice with a larger balcony
You walk in and think 'wow' this place looks great! I was disappointed with first impression of Exagon but you grew to love it.

What was worse;

The kids club was a huge disappointment and our daughter never went once compared to never being out of it last year (she is even in a picture in the 2009 brochure!)

On the first day we took her to the club for her age and they were playing bingo. We introduced her to the animator and asked if she could join in to be told 'sorry we are half way through' We left. More to the point the animator never once tried to befriend her like they did at that Exagon where they were always coming round and chatting and handing out ice pops....big disappointment.

The hotel is much busier and loses any intimacy and the personal touch. At reception was always a 10 mins queue, the restaurant resembled an army mess in how strictly it was run and the noise level. We always felt we were being hurried through and it was bad news if you turned up 30 mins before closing! you were herded into one half being told the other half was closed only to find no tables set for you....Eating became something to get through rather than relaxing.....big disappointment

The sun beds...ahhhh!!!.....agree with other reviews that they were in regimented unmovable rows, several rows deep and that they were booked around the pool by day light by nothing more than towels which sat there all day. At Exagon there is loads of space and no such problem with getting a sun bed.

I got up at 5.30 one morning to take photo's of the sun rise and there in the pitch dark was someone laying out their towels! come on!

We paid for a sea view but it was right to the side through some trees and the view we really got was of the pool, which was ok though.

The sister hotel next door (Playa) had a further 3 pools but apart from the swimming lessons we didn't use them as they seemed more couple orientated. We also asked if we could use the restaurants there but this was met with a cold 'we would rather you didn't'

The bikes need updating.

We booked on a sun set cruise but then given no further assistance in getting to it or decent instructions how we would find the boat and as a result missed it. All the staff just seem to busy to give you that feeling of being cared for.

Lastly, although my wife i'm sure will say I have missed loads more, the area around the hotel compared to Exagon was tacky. Restaurants called the 'stagger Inn' funny but
