We spent one week at this hotel in August 2012. We found the appartment spacious and clean, but the toilet seat was cracked! Although a family of three, we were only offered bed sheets for the double bed and no sheets for our daughter to sleep on the sofa. We initially found the food good, but after two days we realised that it was quite boirng and repetitive. We started having worries about the cleanliness of food, as there were many dirty plates in the piles by the food. When mentioned this to a waiter and showing them one example, they just took it and said nothing. There were flies around the food, so we became more suspicious. Sometimes the food in the morning looked as if recycled from previous night. The specially arranged children's food looked disgusting at times. The cooked food was often not really cooked, so after 2 days we stopped eating anything that we thought could cause stomach problems. Still, one of us got food poisoning after 3 days, and could not really enjoy the second half of the holiday. The major unpleasant things were the SMELL and the mosquitos! Yes, smell, in a 4* hotel. No review mentions this, so maybe it is not all year round. However, during our stay it was horrible. We suspect it came from the nearby natural park and reached the room via the air conditioning, but the hotel did nothing to reduce it. We understand that not much can be done about it outside, but inside? We ended up buying an air freshener in a nearby shop and using it all the time, when we were in the room. Well, and the mosquitos would bite even if we used generous amounts of Autan. Another problem was the fact that the level of English of the waiting staff was so poor, they could not even understand when we asked for a mint tea.

Just to finish off with something good (and the only reason for giving two stars and not one): the kids entertainment, the aqua zumba and the staff leading these were great, they did speak English (and tried basics in all languages of the kids attending the club) and were really very good with the kids.

This is the first hotel I've ever returned to for a holiday. The facilities are top notch, its clean clean clean, the pools are great, the kids club offers plenty to entertain the monsters without being too invasive for the adults, the nearby beach is beautiful (white sand, clear water), and the number/variety of nearby restaurants offers just enough for a change everyday of a 1 week break.

Go there, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Top rooms wherever you end up. The rooms are like mini-apartments with a small kitchen, living room...

We have 2 boys, aged 12yr and 14yrs, and Hotel La Dorada really works for us as a family. I originally booked the hotel as it was close to the beach, but on our first visit the boys had so much to do in the hotel, we stayed in the hotel more than I would have expected. It suited us too as my wife and I simply relaxed whilst the boys had plenty of fun activities to do. There is plenty of space around the pool, and the pool restaurant/bar is too easy to make use of. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious. The kitchenette is small but adequate. All the staff are very friendly and helpful from the front desk, to the restaurant and bar staff, but especially the entertainment team. We have been twice now, and looking forward to booking again for next year. If I have any criticism it would be that the beds were quite hard...picky I know.

We spent eleven nights at the excellent Prinsotel la Dorada in July 2012.
On arrival reception were helpful and provided comprehensive information about the hotel.
The apartment was very modern and spacious with a large double bedroom, a sitting area with twin bed settees, a small, but well equipped kitchenette and an enormous bathroom with two showers and a bath! There was also a large balcony which came with a handy clothes dryer.
The complex itself is beautiful, full of palm trees and tropical plants.
The restaurant was never less than excellent with an extensive buffet selection that was refreshed constantly by the chefs. On a typical night there were usually at least four types of fish on offer, together with various meat dishes, local delicacies, paella, pasta, pizza, salad and vegetarian dishes. There was also a fantastic array of tempting desserts and masses of fresh fruit on offer. There was also a good variety of drinks, all very reasonably priced compared to the UK.
The standard of the entertainment was really good, we saw truly spectacular Chinese and African acrobats, a magician, a snake show, a parrot show and a decent local singer. On other nights there were chill out parties under the stars.
The kids club was really good, with a steady stream of activities laid on all day and into the early evening and the staff were lovely, remembering our childrens' names from day one.
Daily activities for the adults are really good, with football, basketball, water polo, archery, rifle shooting, tennis, table tennis and crazy golf on offer.
The spa looked really good, but we can't rate it as we didn't find the time to give it a try.
The location could not be better, offering easy access to the excellent Playa del Muro beach which offers miles of golden sands and very safe shallow waters that are full of fish. Would suggest buying snorkels from local shops as fish will come to you if you wade out a little way!
There are many supermarkets and restaurants just outside the complex gates. We were able to save on lunches by buying supplies from the shops, which we kept in the apartment's full size fridge.
A short walk down the beach will bring you to Los Gaviotas, where glass bottomed catamarans can be taken to Formentor and beyond. The trip around the rocky headland is spectacular and Formentor beach is as good as the Caribbean.
Our previous holiday was a Canary Islands cruise on Independence of the Seas, but everybody agreed that this was even better and we will be returning next summer.

Although I love my children, holidays with two young children can be challenging en exhausting. However at Prinsotel La Dorada we experienced the opposite and got to relax and disstress. The hotel itself with very friendly staff, exquisite theme based buffets, very nice clean appartments and a fantastic swimming pool was a joy. On top of that an animation team and kids-club that entertained our boys from breakfast until dinner in the restaurant, with all sorts of activities varying from sport activities, pony riding and other games. That gave us the time to relax and drink our 'morning cappucino', our 'afternoon beer' and have our dinner as a couple on a sun bathed terras or the shadow of the poolbar.
I can recommend Prinsotel La dorada very strongly!

This holiday was fantastic. Friendly and service minded staff, good food (and gluten free food!!) in the restaurant. Well maintained and relaxing fasilities. The short walking distance from the beach and just enough sun-beds around the pool area made it possible to spend some of the day at the beach and the afternoon by the pool. The evening entertainment was better then what we have experienced on simmilar resorts. If we get the oportunity to visit Mallorca again next year, it is highly likely that we will choose this hotel.

Arrived at Palma Airport with my two almost adult teenagers to take af taxi in the line outside. No problem there, its a 85 EUR trip to Playa del Mouro where the hotel i situated. Did try to book hotel pickup in advance, but this was first of all complicated, and secondly at 140 EUR, it is to steep to be picked up by a man who spells your name wrong anyways. Cabbie very pleasant and we made arrangement to be picked up for the return trip 9 days later. So expect transport expenses on top.

Ariving at the hotel was a very positive experience, food was set free of charge in the main restaurant for late arivals. Very good thinking. Checkin was completed with out any delays or problems.

Room very! spacious with a small kitchenette, though we didnt use it. No bottled water as a welcome, which could have been a nice courtesy, arriving late. We went flat out in the two rooms, one regular bedroom and a extra in the living room room, which worked very good for me for the duration, so very recommendable.

Not to bore you with further holiday me mories, here is some advice regarding the hotel.

Its a family hotel with lot of small children and lot of activities around families. So dont bring adult children, because they will have enough after the first few days with parrents pacifying their young ones with movies on ipads on highest volume during breakfast. So arrive late for all meals.

The food is bland and boring. All meals taste the same, though there are different themes during the week. If you are in to good food, skip the full board and go out eating in the surrounding eaterys.

Dont buy the drinks included. Its only house wine and beer, and not worth the money - so decide on a daily basis. should include free bar as in Greece.

Tennis works great, easy reservations.

Car rental just around the corner. 65 EUR all inklusive for two whole days. Worked great.

So all in all, great rooms, great resort scenery, fairly pleasant staff, pool is absolutely 4 star, but the one star food drags it all down on a 3 star visit.
